Why is there still no commendation system? You can report all you want even if reports aren’t valid at all. Saying something good about someone is not possible? Shouldn’t you want to reward good behavior?
I can’t really see the point in such systems. There is no negative or positive score.
You can report, where applicable. Rulebreaking/bad behaviour etc. It’s not really a point system.

I never said anything about a a point system. just a quick note that I enjoyed playing with someone who organized a raid so I can see this player contributed positively to the community.
People nowadays report simply for being called out for being bad or failing mechanics. while there’s no option being offended, this report is considered valid by the automated system.
Edit: there are a ton of people I meet in pug raids that are communicating well and are helpful. I wish I could show some love to them instead.

The chances of such a system being used by the player base is 1 out of 100,000 people using that system.
We get into the group, do our thing, and leave. People will not fill out a commendation because Billy Joe Jim Bob did a good job at healing.
Seems even more pointless if there isn’t even goodie twoshoes points.
In OW there is a benefit to my ranking. Though tbh if they attached rewards we’d just have people trying to buy their good rating.
And we know how the WoW player base is. If there is a reward to be gained, they will abuse it to avoid having to do it normally

Yeah it’s another reason I don’t think any kind of commendation system is useful. It just seems a pointless exercise.

I would do it and think it’s a good idea. Op feels the same, so there’s your 1 out of 100,000 people theory up in smoke.
After grouping, there could be a simple thumbs up or down for 5 seconds on the screen. Or, you could manually flag someone as ‘thumbs up’ if they helped you or you enjoyed working/playing with them having teamed up etc.
Would encourage people to work together i.e. you are in a zone clearly doing the same quest, and you could still make it clear that you are helping and working together as opposed to doing it your way.
How can it be a bad thing?

You could exclude people from commendations which you have made a group with prior to the queue.

I wouldn’t expect that. It’s a thing in FFXIV and it’s used more than it is not. Each person can give one commendation to someone in the party after the run is finished. I’ve racked up an unhealthy amount of commendations over my playtime (haven’t checked in a while but I believe I have over 2,500 commendations at this point) as have tons of other’s. In a party of five there’s a huge chance at least 3 people will use that feature. It’s a simple click!
It works extremely well in ffxiv, I don’t think it would not be used in WoW.

In ffxiv you are only allowed to give commendations to people that you did not queue up with together. Nips that abuse right in the butt and making it impossible.

Does it? I never got super invested in FFXIV but I did play for about a year and noticed the commendations went to tank and healer by default and it seemed more like just a thing people did because it was there rather than something anyone put much thought into.

If someone truly is positive or plays well with the team you could thank them for it by using words in chat instead of needing a button to give them a +1 in a meaningless system.

Tanks and healers are favored you are right with that, then again it’s much easier to tell if a tank or healer did a good job than the dps because there is no official dps meter since Yoshi P. is strictly against them.
However I have been playing the new classes Viper and Picto extensively and I may not be showered with comm’s on them but getting them is not uncommon either!

i think what person who created mean maybe something like if you get a lot of +++ positive comendation one every few month small to medium reward, maybe like 20k gold every few months, or bunch of potions , few materials of choice (like u get token to spend and vendor who specialise with it in capital city) to get reward that would make people want to get it so they would be nice to each other more

people would ask guildies for commendations that they havent que’d up with
It’s a random queue, it’s neigh impossible to be randomly queued up with your guildies. The chance of that is statistically extremely low.
If you do a raid and you have a premade made up of 7 people and you random join the 8th to get going, you and all of your friends can only give that random joiner a commendation if you want to, nobody else.
If you do a raid with a complete premade group then nobody can give anyone a commendation.
There is no way to abuse this.
