Community Feast - Quest does not progress

Hi!

I try to finish the ‘Community Feast’ quest since Wednesday - without any success.
It worked fine the week before.
I tried it multiple times with addons, without addons. I cleared the cache, repaired the WoW-client, I abandoned the quest and took it again… still 0/5.

Does anyone else experienced this and maybe has a solution?
Every help is highly appreciated!

Thanks for taking your time to read this and have a lovely day!

I did that feast thingy twice today on two different toons and on both toons I started from the beginning and killed the boss in the end and on both accounts it didn’t count for my weekly. On both attempts the end boss was laggy and didn’t show up instantly after the cooking was done. I also picked up the quest to do 5 things during cooking and on both toons, I only got the option to press the chef’s head only once while seeing “yes chef” popping up constantly around me from other people. So yeah don’t think the event is working properly. Oh and if Blizz is fixing that event please make it an area where you cant pop toys cause it is spammed with toys constantly bloody annoying to target mobs.

Hi folks!

To get credit for this quest, you must complete the tasks your character is assigned, these will appear on the right-hand side above your quest bar, some tasks are called out from Chef Big Kinook, but these may be directed at other players. Also, if you are in a raid group, the quest will not progress.

For you to make sure you are completing your own tasks during this event, do check that side bar, and complete the ones that appear only these will give credit towards the quest.

Yours,

Thanks for the reply!

So, you’re saying I’m just unlucky for days.
Maybe the system of rng-selecting players is a bad design choice for an event where so many palyers are around?

If you got any great ideas CS doesn’t monitor suggestions, you can do so here though:

Thanks!
I might do this later.
Currently i am too disappointed and not willing to do the math for someone who should know better after so long.

You are not the only one with this issue, i got it aswell and know a lot of players that also got it, and i have done all the task that show up… if they do… got lots of aromas but they don’t make any diffrense, most of the time i got one hood in the beggining but it does not count in the weeky quest.

this bad decision of an event has been bugged af for me since beginning. I might participate or not I get 0 reward. I hate it so much. Can we just get rid of this joke and give us more meaningful things than this ‘community’ event. Bugged Lagfest more than anything

The problem is - I think - that these events are just such zerg fests that the amount of tasks that are handed out simply is not enough for the sheer amount of people participating.

I was there for the entire 15 minutes of it and only got handed 3 tasks, the fourth one came just as the timer ended and I was unable to finish that.

Seems like something they need to fix.

Typical Blizzard make a Bug to a RNG issue.

every 3,5 hour and then also RNG really blizzard are your out of your mind

So rather than to emerge myself in the event, I have to keep looking at the top right side of my screen. Or I won’t get any credit for being there.

Fun - NOT.

The lack of consistency in this game is startling. Everywhere else it’s pretty much free for all, do what ever you enjoy. Sometimes drops are shared, or picked up items count for the whole party. Sometimes they disappear when used, others not.

We’ve had plenty quest events where you look at the text box to see what you’re supposed to do. Or act according to what is going on. Now clearly we have to see yet another place for info or we get friggin’ no credit.

May I ask… the meat from those elites in the event… do some people get assigned to pick those up while everyone can if quick enough? Or can only assigned people do it? Or is it a random thing that has no consequence? I mean, because everything else everyone can do. Even if that doesn’t count for s hit.

You can also immerse yourself in the event by looking at your extra action button. If you get one that looks like a chef’s hat, you have a new task to complete. You can then read what the task is. Clicking the chef’s hat acknowledges your task and gives you 30% speed boost. Sometimes you even get auto-moved to your task (e.g. when stirring the soup), sometimes you have to solve other assignments, such as fishing something up or buying an ingredient.

The display of goals at the top right is by no means a new thing for the soup alone. This scenario display (multi-staged adventures) has been in place since at least Legion. Even in Dragonflight, there are multiple scenarios that use this display (the elemental chest and the great hunt, for example).

The meat from the elites is just bonus aroma for the pot. Whoever gets there first gets to pick it up and add aroma. The more aroma a soup has, the more progress it makes towards legendary status.

Other attackables, such as the morsel or the tough rubbery fish head, only count for progress when you attack them during a task that tells you to do so.

Well, the evening I only had one button pop up. And that at the very beginning of the event. It was the hat. Only other button I’ve ever seen on any toon is the “stir the soup” button, that puts you in the pot.

Never seen any other, never been moved anywhere else.
I have got credit for completing the event by clicking the button when up. And those times several more times than just the one. And then also just standing around randomly dpsing what ever spawned.

The hunts are very much clear what you’re supposed to do. They happen over a larger area, and so far I have not seen any extra action button clicking. They work more like progressive quests, and everyone taking part has the same task. At least as far as I can tell.

I still think the Community Feast has a bad design as it has worked for me, and clearly other people. I’ll give it a go, looking at my Task list, and stick to do only what appears there. Hopefully it’ll work.

I’m so angry and depressed about this thread.

Angry because I stayed up past my bed time to get my weekly progress done and I didn’t get the progress. I’m an old man now that’s a big deal!

Depressed because after reading this I realise I didn’t do my specific tasks so now I just want to sleep and never wake up. Goodbye cruel world.

Tl;Dr. You were probably wrong too, read the tasks.

if this is the tusker food thing
the problem i have is that i don’t seam to get any tasks to do i just sit there waiting for a task and don’t get any :frowning:

Explaining how the feast should work does not address the issue of it not working. When you are not issued tasks for the entirety of the event, or (more often) are only assigned 1-2 tasks for a quest that requires 5, this is either not working as intended or is of such poor RNG design as to be a complete waste of time and as frustrating to players as possible. Given the complaints I see in game every time the feast ends and people are left without completion, how can this not be on a list of known issues and being addressed? Please stop ignoring this issue.

You don’t have to do a personally assigned task for it to credit.

The ‘group assignments’ such as killing the invading monsters, stamping on the shellfish, throwing the fish back in and so on can all help count towards the quest.

As a suggestion, I have found the using AOE DPS when doing things like tenderising the fish heads doesn’t really work. Applying Direct Damage (including DOTs) is far more likely to register.

I know it’s not perfect, but doing it this way I have found I can usually complete the quest in one go, but if not, a second feast will get me the rest.

Hope this helps.

This is not the case at all. You can progress the bar but that does nothing to the quest. If you don’t get tasks you get no quest progress.

This is an utterly broken design and must be changed (or the quest needs to be changed to work around whatever mess we have). It definitely cannot stay like this.

This also helps no one as you need to be assigned tasks. If there are 100+ people there, you might as well log out.

The Community Feast quest must be changed!
Tasks must be given out waaaaay more liberally and whoever gets it can’t be random, it must rotate (add a debuff to players who got a task so they can’t get another one for a short time for instance) or, the objective can be changed to collect Aroma or just to kill the last boss (x times).

Or, all of the above and have a flat % bar for the quest, where every activity progresses it. This is done for so many World Quests or other quests, I don’t know why this one isn’t like that. Tasks completed could award 20% of the progress and we have the same setup, but we could also progress via other means.

I’m sorry, but you are wrong. I have taken part in the Community Feast with no personally assigned tasks and simply carried out the jobs like killing attacking monsters, squashing the hermit crabs, throwing the fish back in and so on and so forth. I have had the 5 tasks eventually credit to me over the 15 minutes and, so, the quest completes.

Please be certain of your facts before you post because in this case you are absolutely wrong.

I’m not wrong. This has absolutely been my experience and many others have reported it as well. I have no idea what you’re experiencing or what’s happening for you but don’t assume what you have is what everyone else has.
Please be certain of your facts before you reply because you are just simply wrong.

I don’t get any task credit for the quest just for doing stuff, collecting Aroma. If I don’t get an action button popup, I do not get credit, and I very very rarely get tasks assigned this way (whether I turn off addons or not so it’s not a UI issue).
