Comparing Old WoW cutscenes to new WoW cutscenes

It does matter if Blizzard tries to sell this story of us, the player character, being close friends with faction leaders.

As I said, because it was done with a clear vision. Meanwhile most of the TWW cinematics of S2 look like they were made with quite the short deadline.

That’s a highly individual take. Factually both of them have their pro’s and con’s.

Wait so you excuse this terrible quality, because they have “short deadline”? This is a video game that costs 13 a month, has paid expansions, lots of microtransactions, and direct p2w mechanics. Why do you put up with low quality?

Factually the wrathgate cinematic is extremely popular, while the other ones are not at all. And things that have better quality are in most cases also more popular. In this case it’s almost comedic how low the quality is in the modern content. Tbf I’m not sure if “modern” is even the right word.

Don’t imply things I didn’t say.

All I am saying is, it doesn’t surprise me we get this quality. Personally I prefer the current “crap” over the outdated looking old cutscenes. Sure, they sound epic and all. But visually they look very aged.

Ask that the people buying the AH Brutosaurus, not me. I don’t pay for such a mount.

Because it was Wrath of the Lich King. A story many people did took great interest in. If we would get the same quality of cutscene with the same graphics as back then in todays expansion, it would be a horrible perceived.

If it was as cool, people would like it

And after all these years, they still cannot put the player character into one of those better rendered cutscenes.

You truly are just a side prop when the game rolls out the big moments.

Because they are pre-rendered. That means they are a finished file format like a MP4.

The current new live-renders we have is the closest we can get. And those from TWW with Anduin and Faerin with us in them are very close to what you ask for.

Do you think an Orc living in the rear-end of nowhere can get anything better than a plank of wood with wheels?

Khadgar at least has technological options at his disposal. Instead all he has is an impractical wheelchair.

Probably just too lazy to make a new model

No way you going to pretend that wow has less money now after introducing WoW token and boomers using it to buy mythic raid. Or, after introducing cash shop with AH mount.

Crazy :joy:
Average person in wow won’t even able to say what do they pay for their sub fee as there is no content in the game. Calculate the price you pay for the 1.5 year expansion total and compare it to other games. :woman_facepalming:

And not to mention that W3 has better cinematically than TWW. either some women’s feet on the screen or two women who can’t even fight. EPIC

Just can’t with wow players defending blizzard all the time. Other games put you into cutscenes
Ff14 and gw2 does it, gw2 even has voice acting with real actors, wow could do that too but I guess they can’t afford hire those, or maybe the budget is super tight? Lmao

in gw2 Your race and profession affect dialogue , and npcs will refer to your character by name and background. That game doesn’t require sub to play

It boiled over.

Apparently it does, if you believe the vibe being presented by everyone talking about it.

The reality is probably a lot more simpler: Corporate oversight and talentless hacks being placed in positions they’re ill-suited for.

In fairness, she was talking about pre-rendered cutscenes. The fancy flashy ones that aren’t rendered within the game. Though I think it wouldn’t be impossible to do either since if I am not mistaken, Like a Gaiden managed to get your customized Kiryu into pre-rendered cutscenes too.

That being said you are correct on this observation.

After all the mocking and laughing, it’s time for the devs to start taking the story seriously. stop with the garbage low testosterone narrative and bring back edgy and cool moments

Get Executor Nral involved. Guy seems like he knows how to carry the story forward, or at least he’ll do a better job even if he does memes.

Make Azeroth Great Again.

Yes exactly, It’s a fantasy game not Kingdom Come: Deliverance, most weapons in WoW would be very impractical and silly in reality, do you think Greatsword of the Inferno, Thunderfury etc. are more practical?

HERE COMES THE GANTRITHOR!!

OH FUUUUUUUU~

Lol that guy is awesome. Do I want him to make stories for Blizzard? Idk if he can take it seriously enough, but I love that guy all the same. He’s so funny it’s absolutely unreal.

I am going to ignore the MAGA part of that comment. Blizzard doesn’t need to go that far… -_-

EDIT: Lmao he’s making fun of Blizzard’s awful storytelling as well.

In all fairness people keep comparing this in game engine cutscene with old pre rendered ones. Pre rendered will always have a better quality but they can’t have the character model in them (which is fine by me, if it were up to me all cutscenes would be pre rendered).

My questions is - is there a real time engine cutscene that people consider to be much better than this one?

The standard for what?
An end of expansion intro to the last encounter, wrapping up a multi year storyline?
Sure.

The standard for a simple cutscene during a quest?
No.
Because then where do you put the special epic moments? Moments like that need to be earned, need to feel special and be used thoughtfully to preserve their impact.

The funny thing that it doesn’t contain curse words. Asmongold video is the same title as this topic and the twitter post that they mention is “the absolute state of world of warcraft in the year of our lord 2025”.

I hope the upcoming patch includes a few more questlines and cutscenes of this nature. The more you ruin people’s entertainment, the sooner the disgusting movement behind this stuff will be buried.
