Confused about leveling

So what happened to ‘level to level 50 in any expansion’ ?
Or did I misread this? What’s the point of starting in Legion, when we can only level there till level 45 and we are forced to do bfa for 5 more levels? What if I only want to do Classic content till Shadowlands comes out? I can only level till level 30 in Classic zones?

Besides this, all the changes are amazing.

If you choose to level through Legion, you level from 10-50 via Chromie time throughout Legion.

Good to know, but I want to do Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdom zones.

Then you have to choose Cataclysm, not Legion.

Huge! I was so bummed when I clicked it that I couldn’t see Classic when I went to Chromie, so cata is vanilla + cata and nothing else? Can I start doing this in the midst of questing in Kalimdor?

I would very much like to know this as well, as I’m also somewhat confused by these changes.

Cataclysm is Vanilla (obviously post cata changes) and then Cataclysm. So you’d do your starter area/or the new one then go see Chromie. The article includes the following chart.

Available Zones in Chromie Time

Below you’ll find the level range for each zone while in Chromie Time. Again, it is important to highlight that you can level in any zone or expansion despite what you chose when talking with Chromie .

Cataclysm Zones in Chromie Time

Chromie sorts Vanilla zones with Cataclysm, as most zones received revamps for the expansion.

Thank you so much, it’s starting to clear out now. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just one more question - if I understand correctly from the link you posted, whenever I’m done with a certain expansion, I can go back to Chromie and then switch to another one in order to get the dungeons from the new one in the dungeon finder. Is this correct?

The idea of Chromie time is that you level in a form of timewalking in that expansion. You can level normally without Chromie time where you chop and change area as you see fit.

The dungeons are usually listed as whatever expansion you’ve chosen to level in but should expand if there isn’t enough people queuing up to do them.

Yeah this is confusing for me too, I saw someone say something about being removed from Chromie Time in an expansion when they’ve hit 50? and when they went back at level 50, they were one shotting things? @Punyelf, could you explain how to not have this happen as well?

Yes once you hit 50 you will be removed from the timewalking mode. If you want to experience that expansion fully you will have to freeze your xp gain before you make that ding to 50.

Thank you very much @Punyelf!

I’ve just started a new Pandaren and I was sooo confused when I arrived in Orgrimmar from the Wandering Isle, suddenly all the new changes hit me.
Now I understand how it works and that there’s nothing to worry about since I’ll be able to play and level my new character the way I intended after all.

Cheers!
