Question about the changes

Hi everyone,

So, I’m back after a break and decided to get back by starting a new character and I’m a bit confused by some of the changes brought by the level squishing, etc…
For example, there is only the BfA content in the dungeon finder. Someone mentioned in trade chat that in order to open up other content in the dungeon finder I have to go to Chromie and select the preferred timeline from there.

Can someone please explain to me how does this work now? My intention is to go through the world (Azeroth) zone by zone, then Outland, Northrend and so on, as we used to do pre-scaling & level squishing, just to experience the world and questing once again and I’m afraid that if I select something at Chromie’s I might mess this up and limit myself in some way.
Sorry if this sounds silly, I’m just not up to date yet with all the new changes. Can anyone clarify what happens when and if I select, let’s say - Outland at Chromie’s? Will the vanilla WoW dungeons and/or Burning Crusade dungeons open up in the dungeon finder instead of the BfA ones and how does selecting a timeline like that affect questing?

Thank you in advance for any clarification!

EDIT:
