Consider placing your character into difficult circumstances more often

He has done that himself.

From my point of view Blizzard is evil!

My characters will only ever refer to this as hearsay, stating that only a handful of guardsmen were slain, because it’s the only way I can reasonably comprehend that particular brand of lunacy in my RP.

Mion throws a rock at Brogg to weaken him.

To be fair to you I think almost every attendee either ignored it or downplayed it in a similar way - I can’t imagine being an Alliance RPer and being like “yo… like three times our numbers here just got instantly turned into ash by the focusing iris from Tides of War haha thats so epic…

To also say something mildly constructive: If your RP solely focuses on conflict or hardship of some sort it may end up feeling less like you’re playing out a genuine character and moreso a character from a TV show or a “monster of the week” anime/cartoon.
I mean hell its the Warcraft universe, even the “mundane” can be a lot more than mundane by our real life standards.

I’ll take my good boy points now. :cowboy_hat_face::smoking:

Perhaps you’re the grim reaper?

I’m sorry Glaedr, it’s not you, it’s the futa monster hunters (clearly))

Still do not comprehend why people use a Japanese term to describe that particular form of individual on an English role-playing server.

It baffles the mind.

I imagine significant overlap between people obsessed with Japanese culture and people who appreciate that kind of ‘artwork’.

Because saying the english version in any negative fashion is 30% more likely to get a blueberry dropping a certain three-letter hammer on you.

powerful posting, i agree.

also @the op who are you or i for that matter to dictate what a difficult situation is for anyone’s character? we are not the controller of said character. someone might find things like socialising in character very difficult but have absolutely zero issue in slaughtering demons by the literal century.

what this comes off as is a thinly veiled attempt to once again pedestal illiterate peasant rp as some sort of high moral standard when in fact its probably the most boring and uninteractive rp that can happen. there is a reason township guilds struggle immensely to take off simply because no one really wants to play john doe potato farmer of westfall on market day in stormwind.

This is literally telling someone how to roleplay, lmao.

And who exactly is judging over that? You? Feels like you are.

That is what roleplaying is. Also roleplaying is basically acting. If I pretend my priest is a real character, I play him and walk around somewhere then it’s all what is to roleplaying. To play a role. So yes, your example is roleplaying.

And who would that someone be? You? No, thank you. I would recommend moving out of SW and into Duskwood or Booty Bay. Then playing there for a while. You will encounter “problems” within those places pretty quickly once you stay around for a while. Also you can easily help that in playing the bad guy. Walk around in Duskwood, attack strangers. Boom, you just created problems!

Why don’t you roleplay the victim then? You can write plots and interesting situations [which is pretty subjective]. But can you provide an interesting character? The point of it is that it gives you more possibilities. Also who’s going to solve “their” issues? Again, you? If you stay around longer in one place and SOCIALIZE with others then you will encounter problems that you can solve with them together. Best example: one of my chars yesterday encountered a sin’dorei in Duskwood. She explained to me she would like to sleep in a bed but the only beds in Duskwood are within the tavern. So my character made a plan to get her a room, open the window of the room and then she can climb in. Waow! How did that situation happen? Socializing

Requirements: being social. It sounds to me like you’re walking into a group of strangers with your character and you say “LET ME SOLVE ALL UR PROBLEMS!!1”. No, that’s not how it works. Maybe that’s why you don’t encounter “problems”. Because you just want stuff handed to you. Socializing is a part of “solving someones problems” because once you got to know their characters, the problems will arise. Either by telling your character or by you figuring them out.

Actual roleplay? But everything that happens on AD IC is roleplaying. Even Goldshire.

So I was right. You think your own roleplay stands over the roleplay of others and is therefore superior.

Not gonna lie you sound like a pretentious prick that just wants to have everything handed to him while disregarding any other person. Maybe that’s why you encounter no problems. Because it means you need to socialize first. But socializing is bad and not part of roleplay? Well, then why are you searching for a group? You can do that alone and without socializing, no?

If you don’t like the roleplaying of someone = move away.
If you don’t like the roleplaying of anyone = I would consider not playing on AD over all or just by yourself.

You do realise the great irony you made here, right?

Nobody can judge you but you can judge others. :b:ig yikes from me dawg.

Let´s all turn our characters into characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“We finally managed to beat this bad guy we struggled with and in the process solved your serious health problems. How are you feeling, mate?”
“My father hates meeee.”
“Oh, I know, I know, but you can´t be defined by what your father that has literally never been mentioned before thinks about you.”
10 episodes later
“Well, next bad guy is beaten and so are your daddy issues. How do you feel?”
“I am not good enough for this jooooob.”
“Oh, come in here sweetie, I know it´s hard to live with crippling anxiety that we also never talked about in last 4 years of our lives because it never influenced anything you do, but we will get through this together, alright?”

thanks vaxir but i’m pretty sure any interested parties can likely just take a quick stroll through the wikipedia page for the subject instead of having you explain it to them on a video game forum

Maybe my character is just very lucky and never has a bad thing happen to him.

Oops, did I just write a character concept?
