I actually think that this is just a buff for PvEers. Why? Because as a PvP person that wants to time all 15s, for example, you need to grind double sets of gear to be competitive.
PvP people are looked at as 2nd rate players, because it is their gear being downscaled and then upscaled and not the PvEers gear. We’re getting clowned on.
This means world content (Maw) will be much slower with your (in theory) 200 ilvl gear that goes up to 233 in pvp situations. I’d much more prefer having my 226 gear at all times rather than 233 once people attack me.
Also to make this completely fair, why don’t PvE people have 200 ilevel gear that scales up once you enter dungeons/raids? They will work for their ~220 ilevel gear and then enter rbgs, arenas and have a bigger advantage than fully geared PvP players (capped at 200 or even less) stepping into PvE. This means that PvP players need 2 sets of gear while PvE players need one. Why is it not the other way around?
A long term solution to this would be:
Keep it as it is right now. The system really isn’t that bad compared to BFA.
It is good to see some people with a brain, I thought I was alone. You cannot nerf and limit PvP item power inside PvP instances in current progress structure.
Besides, there won’t be a motivation to climb in this case, imagine you are mythic raider but blizzard scale lfr players’ iLvL to the same level as you have so that they won’t feel bad. If we high rating players not gonna have a taste of progress and feel reward of being good at the game then why would we play, at least I won’t. If there is no PvP iLvL progress and if I will be scaled down 20-30 iLvL during torghast and world quests, then screw such a game, I won’t be part of such a game.
I already hate thought of this change, this is a complete dealbreaker. I would play counter strike or LoL if I want PvP without progress. Tchh… Most people who support it will also realize this is a terrible change for PvP players, but it will be too late, it will take 3-4 years for them to revert this change, then unsub threads will start to popup.
Nothing good can come out of WoD, worst experience ever together with BfA.
There is also 1 more thing that this will cause. PvE players have been participating to PvP, lfg will be dead at least on Alliance side after these changes, horde won’t suffer as much as Alliance because of population difference, they have enough players for both content whilst it is exact opposite for Alliance. Faction balance problem will get worse, during WoD Alliance had human racial which was the best racial for PvP so people stayed, it is no more since the nerf.
I will be waiting, if they decide to implement this into the game then it is time to say farewell for me, hope they do not.
Instead of pulling our gearing down they must pull PvE gearing up if they wanna do something related to gearing. I do both content if needed but I can’t if they nerf PvP gear, hundreds of people joined my key, this change means my m+ key won’t be on LfG next time which also means less Alliance groups on LfG and I’m sure I am not the only hybrid player on Alliance side.
It is equal because high rated Alliance players wreck horde players whenever they see one. In BfA scaling made it impossible for us to 1v3, currently it is possible for me to easily 1v3, this is another side effect.
If scaling comes back Alliance won’t be able to use Warmode once again just like 8.0 because horde outnumber us, equality will create inequality since population numbers are not equal.
in BfA we alliance players brought literal havoc in 5 man guerilla teams on unsuspecting vulpera rep farmers in voldun… just for weekly quest AoO there was no shortage of players applying to my group.
It wasnt too dead for ally, just required some from of organization… very casual style
So you want meaningful rewards like PvE players wanted, less in quantity. Now take a look at them if they are happy.
Tabards are trash, glad mounts are recolours if you get 1 that’s enough, set is easily obtainable at 1.8 except cloak which is not important at all.
Only illusion of course only if they give a good illusion, it also might be useless depending on what they give.
Currently there is more motivation behind climbing, outplay enemies, climb and you’ll have enough power to 1v3 on open world or battlegrounds. My RBG wins were mostly due to me doing a 1v2 and invading objectives, I played 1000+ matches so that I can do that, if I won’t have such a progress then there is no meaning and there are many people that agree with me, 1300 gods on one side thinking that they’ll be gladiator with scaling, some PvE players and we reasonable ones.
We are saying that buff PvE gearing instead of pulling PvP gearing down and making it trash for PvE content. As long as they don’t create Drest level absurdities PvE gearing won’t impact arena as bad as it used to, because unlike BfA we have gearing option this time.
If they wanna destroy PvP, Alliance, Warmode Balance, Faction Balance completely then yeah, it would be accurate to bring these changes.
Thats pretty much the same as saying: If you weren’t so bad at flipping burgers you would be mcdonalds manager now.
I mean yeah I could if I would but I enjoy my programming job way more than flipping burgers.
And yeah about the topic, idea is not bad but I can bet implementation will be mediocre at best. We don’t even know if it hits live and people are already predicting how it will work.
They should implement the change at the start of the next season = with 9.1. Agree they should not implement it in the middle of the current season. If the change is in at the start of a season, everybody stays competitive together according to the same rules.
Guess im in a minority here, but gearing up your character is a big part of the attraction of wow for me. As someone who like both pve and pvp it also kinda sucks having to farm two different sets.
The ilvl gap can probably be a little closer though. But if you are stuck at low rating now, dont think this change is gonna help your rating when all the pve noobs leave the scene.
So whats the point climbing the ladder if theres no real reward anymore? They should make it atleast so that high rated players that really do commit, obtain their conquest gear much faster than someone hardstuck at 1200 cr. I dont vouch for this change. Cant even use my pvp gear to do torghast because it gets scaled much lower than in bgs? KEKW
Like imagine pvp gear actually being PvP gear right? KEKW actually got to PVE for PVE gear l0l wierd right
Most PvP because they enjoy it. It’s never been because PvP gear was ez PVE ilvls…most people climb the ladder because they can and want the titles. Like why do people climb over 2.4k where gear progression ends? Because it’s about the prestige
I dont have time to commit to pvp and pve. Perhaps ur 15 and all but i work 5 days a week. And since they made torghast mandatory for BOTH content types(pve and pvp) its only logical we should be able to do this without our gear getting dropped 30 ilevels
Gear progression matters, dont act like it doesnt.
Yeah sure man, what ever you say. Time managements a thing but oh well let’s forget about that.
PvP takes few hours a week to cap if that’s all you care about. Which you can slowly push rating at the same time.
Pve, well it’s what ever, Pick the level you want to compete at and go for it. Not got the time to mythic progress? Just aim for curve. No Biggie. Mythic raiding isn’t for everyone and that’s fine to.
You can also do torgast naked. Plenty of videos of that so gear is irrelevant for the most part. Layer 8 was easy even at 200ilvl before the nerfs so really no excuse
Im a truck driver with very different work hours, usually 65 hours per week. Finding time to do pvp is sometimes hard foe me. Grinding a second set just so i can feel strong in outdoor world content doesnt feel right to me. Not at all. I do not vouch for this change but everyone can have his own opinion ofc.
Time to unsub then.
I don’t want to play with garbage gear, the new gearing system was the only reason I returned to the game. Because it allows integrity between the different playmodes and allows me to actually have good gear when I run around in the open world.
Not all pvp-players run laps around Oribos while queueing…
Yeah, imagine PvP being all about fair competition and not giving already better players even more advantages in the form of better gear.
I’m glad no game in existence ever has done such a horrible thing.
So glad Global Elites in Counter Strike can 1 shot people with a body shot using the M4A1, instead of needing a headshot.
Or the 20% stat boost on every champion for people who reach Challenger in League of Legends.
Or the doubled income of minerals and vespene gas for Grand Master players in SC2 so they can really roflstomp them Bronze noobs KEKW.
