Horde and alliance now both are at 10% buff which means the system says no it isn’t. In SL alot of players switched it off because it no longer really holds anything a pver needs.
It’s far more equalised now

They’re close now because the 10% isn’t needed for Azerite. There is much less benefit for a max level player to have WM on in SL compared to BfA.
Well it was the xp boost for Alts most wanted it for. And in bfa it weren’t amazing either.
The system scales based on popularity of both factions not if the rewards are good.
The WM disparity has dropped immensely because most horde now also have it switched off.
i always saw plenty of max level players in Warmode in BfA. A majority even.
A higher percentage of Horde players have switched off Warmode, so there must be a reason for that. Alliance and Horde now get the same rewards. My thought is that there’s a core of players who just like having Warmode on whether or not it has any rewards. Then there’s an extended group who were in it for other stuff. Some for the 10%+, some for the WM activities. Now that the buff is worth less and there are no specific WM activities, the second group have turned off WM. These players were more likely to be Horde.
Which is fine, as due to sharding all that really matters is that we’re balanced.
You’re delusional if you think there are lots of ppl who got boosted to 2.4k It costs 8-15 million gold depending on your class / spec / initial rating / bracket / etc… Not much people have access to that kind of money, and spending 800-1600 EUR for a game just to get a 233 wep which will be useless in 5-6 months is not a real scenario either.
Ur right there’s a thousand complaints on the arena section about boosters for naught reason.
Naguura didn’t get called out for among several other content creators for being boosted in PvP.
I didn’t mean a majority go for 233 weps. I ment that as in its gearing is far better.
I just ment in general I know not wvery players getting boosted to 2.4k just like not every PvE boost buyers go for all dungeons at +15s.
I just was stating that it’s far easier to get that gear from boosts comparitively
But plenty go for 1.8k / 2.1k boosts.
This, YES DO IT!
This would make PvPing on mains and alts way more balanced seeing as ilvl does not matter anymore. All the while removing any balance issues between PvP and PvE gear.
The only other small change would then be the removal of the +40% versa buff from trinkets; that is currently a major contributor to the burst issues in PvP. And then PvP would be in a really good shape.
Absolutely needs to happen, am currently running down the last days of my sub and was dubious about the will to come back but if this happens then I’ll be more than happy… shame it couldn’t have been in place already while we’re in lockdown as BG’s had been literally the only thing keeping me somewhat occupied and sane.
I gotta agree, i played a lot of wod it was not the best but heck the pvp system they had in there with the gear itself was the best of the best. It made it so nice to compete in pvp battles with that gear and if i wanted to do pve i swapped out for pve gear simple as that.
Pros for separation of PvP and Pve Gear: People don’t need to do content they don’t like for gear.
But this is not a problem in SL, PvE and PvP are already both viable for gear progressions. And PvE drop is just buffed and there will be valor system.
Cons for separation of PvE and PvP: players need to farm another sets for different activities.
This is and was a big problem that discourages pvp players to pve, and vice versa. And nobody wants to carrry multiple sets. It was the reason they removed the pvp only stats/gear.
Current SL gear is in a very good state. Both PvP and PvE gear are viable for either activity. Both PvP and PvE are viable for gearing. And players can mix and match PvP and PvE gear.
Could you level an alt, and try to gear up to a competitive level and comeback and tell me it is in a good state?
PVE is no problem since a m+7 won’t get any harder later in the patch, neither will a m+15 or a mythic raid.
If you try to do the same with PvP you will meet alot of gear walls, and you will struggle to climb the ladder without a strong team, since if you are late, you are so far behind the curve that something that would be easy the first week can be almost impossible late season.
This is the worst possible knee-jerk reaction. It was tried before and felt bad. No reason to try something against that has already failed. Take what worked and make a new system, kill your darlings. Something which Ian Kompetentoss seems to be really bad at.
This is what I would suggest instead
The only solution is to bring in MMR-scaling so that whatever your gear is it’s scaled DOWN to the MMR bracket you’re in.
That way if someone comes from Arena or PvE with an ilvl of 220 and enters a sub-1400 bracket all the gear that they have above ilvl 200 will be scaled down to ilvl 200, which is the highest possible in that bracket. There’s no up-scaling of gear, only down-scaling.
This way gear progress would still be relevant as it would allow you to compete in higher brackets. It would allow for cross-style gameplay fluidly as people who PvP would still be able to gear up equally to PvE, and it would still give players an advantage, however, it would be much less impactful than it is now.
Blizzard wants cross-pollination in content or else the game itself will die slowly as entropy comes into effect. Making a divide like in WoD would effectively hermetically seal one part of the game from the other. The issue is that ilvl difference has a lot higher part in the game than before due to scaling being removed completely.
The effective solution would be to lower the ilvl of gear so it fitted within the bracket that was played. That way any gear difference would never be overwhelming, merely a challenge, and a challenge is okay. An overwhelming difference is wrong.
One thing is curb-stomping PvE content you overgear as the recipients are programs and have no feelings. In PvP the opposing side consists of real people and as such have emotions and reactions. And for them being curb-stomped is a source of frustration.
That’s one thing, the other thing being that if you do not break the terms of use and do not account share, they can’t boost just anyone anyhow. You still need to do a little bit of something for it, or risk being found out and account getting banned.
My only concern is my overall ilvl will be lower if i can’t upgrade pvp gear anymore, currently i’m using all my pvp gear in raids simply because i enjoy pvp more but because i can upgrade it to 220 i stay competitive when i’m dragged into raiding by my guild each week. If i’m forever stuck at 207 i’ll be forced to do pve content to even partake in HC raids… ouch.
If they just added a 3rd stat to pvp gear like ‘resilience’ and keep the upgrade system as it is, then it would be mandatory for pvp gear to be used in pvp but also not make it completely trash in pve, which is a win win.
Nope, I strongly disagree for multiple reasons:
Having to farm multiple sets for casual pvp/pve would suck for anyone that like both.
This kind of gearing allways favours PvE, because at highlevel PvE you could allways do highlvl PvP due to the mystic-raid rewards are allmost as high as maxed out PvP-Ilvl while highend PvPers would be not even close to be able to compete in highend PvE.
The actuall system works pretty well and the only reason PvErs have to do PvP is due to Loot-Problems in PvE. So it would be easier to fix that.
Versa is a good stat for mulitiple specs in PvE now. Which also indicates that multiple specs have a PvE-Scaling Problem (for non Tanks)
People that enjoy both contents dont want to farm multiple sets (yeah I allready said that, but keep in mind that people enjoy twinking, multispecs and multicontent)
The solution (again) is to fix the PvE gear problem that can be easily achieved by increasing loot
Agreed, so that will deteriorate further, if ‘casual’ PVPers are able to mallet Mythic Raiders and Mythic+ Dungeoneers in wPVP… imho, wPVP should reflect PVE grinding, not PVP ranking…which should be reserved for rated BGs and Arena, where it should indeed reflect PvP engagement.
My primary concern is how you encourage new people to engage with and maintain an interest in, PVP in the early stages…since if they are not enjoying it, many will simply disengage, and not return…this leads to a diminishing PVP player pool, which is not good for PVP going forward.
Honestly dont care, see pros and cons both in current and in wod gearing.
What schould not happen again is a gear draught.
Let gear just be gear. No bullshiit separation of PvE and PvP gear.
Players shall be able to get gear from from any PvE/PvP source, mix and match them, for any PvE/PvP content.
This has already been tried before and failed.
I don’t think this works for PVP, since the content is different and it is reasonable, that peeps want to be fairly rewarded for their level of engagement.
There is an argument for wPVP to not take account of PVP ranking…then having an entry level of BGs where all gear scales to one level, so that peeps work on their skills and can grind a currency for an entry level PVP set…having obtained that set, they could then start on rankings which reward a new currency to upgrade PVP gear, the rankings to have a level scale that allows progression through a ranking band… once you upgrade your set beyond a certain PVP ilvl, if you outgear a ranking band, your gear scales down to the top level of that ranking band.
Some of this is already in place, but there appears to be a choke point ceiling that is difficult to traverse…it is possible this is difficult to avoid, as you start to hit seriously pro-level PVP rankings, since effectively it is the nature of the beast and therefore it is reasonable that you need to heavily engage, to break through the ceiling, to the highest levels.
This would be the best change in a long time.
The gear disparity as it is now is to big, the boosting is ridiculous if you came late to the party or alt’s, this would fix it. As it’s reasonable to have a farm and timeline for aquiring the gear, but at some point in the season, alt a,b and c will be on even playinggrounds as the rest.
Why they even strayed from this in the first place was a huge mistake.
