I am expressing a warning about players who use discord to prevent players from joining Raids in Game…
Everyone should realise by now, that anyone can create a discord server, and they can claim donations and people who pay for memberships to their servers…
If Blizzard does not bet a handle on this problem. Those people trying to make money from their Discord Servers, Will Financially Blackmail players of WOW Classic in order for people to Join Raids in Game.
Anyone that wishes to join a raid group will have to join someone’s Discord account. They might have a few options… " Pay a Donation ", Become A Member " Or Have limited access to Raids "…
People can easily make Discord Servers and make money from their popularity… But have become aware right now, that many of these popular Discord Servers are Abusing Players in World Of Warcraft. They want people to Donate or become Members of their servers if we are allowed to Join Raids in Game…
Its A Heads Up… Can you remind yourselves of this before it gets to real…
It’s bad enough just having to install stinky discord on my machine, nevermind some sweaty chin-lords asking me to pay for the privilidge of using it as a raiding pass haha
I have told you as it is. Keep in mind before it gets real… I am Not Exaggerating… This is happening right now. And soon No one will be able to Join Raids without a joining a Discord Server.
Press I in the game, select “Premade Groups” and then have a look at “Dungeons” or “Raid - Shadowlands” and there should be at least 4 to 8 advertisers in there.
People who are getting into it late and need to gear up for other raids.
People who are switching mains or starting over on a new realm.
People who still need gear from raids their guild doesn’t run anymore.
People who pay for raids on retail.
This was already going on when I quit playing classic a few months ago; want a guaranteed spot on a well organized run? Pay for membership. Otherwise you’ll be on waiting list and might never get in. It is really easy money tbh, because most don’t want to start making their own 40man pug.
yeah and its your own fault if you pay money for this. all this can be achieved by simply looking for another guild aka people who do not charge you money for a raid spot.
i absolutely highly doubt that this is the only way to get a raidspot.
I dont get why Activision allow players to use outside-game app like Discord. There is an in-game Voice thingy… Why they dont ban the Discord shet? CS:GO banned every app you use outside the game.
Not all of us use the garbage Discord and other filthy apps when we play WoW.
Then don’t use discord.
How do you prevent people using discord exactly? - I have discord open pretty much 24/7, so I can speak to guildies, friends etc.
It’ll be like saying, you’re not allowed steam open whilst having WoW open xD.
You call discord garbage, but it’s the best app for communicating outside of games.
We can call, stream, upload photos/videos, chat.
It’s not like millions use it or nothing lol.
I don’t think you are understanding this correctly. It isn’t guilds that do this, it is people who run pug groups. You join their Discord, they explain that they fill the raid from the paid members section first and then take others if here is room. This creates pressure to pay for that membership and technically for the raid spot.
Ofc you can find a normal pug or get in from the waiting list, but it also wasn’t uncommon to have to choose between paying or not raid for that reset. And with the population getting smaller I wouldn’t be surprised if paid pugs were the only thing available on some realms now.
The main problem with this is that it is obviously RMT, but happens outside of the game and on top of that you aren’t directly asked to pay for the raid spot. So even when reported it leads to nothing.
P.S. I would NEVER pay (real money or gold) for a raid or a dungeon.
i understand perfectly fine, thank you. my point still stands. you do not need to join those discords or whatever, just look for a normal guild. if you join such a discord then its your own fault.
this is why i said fools part easy with their money.
if you think its rtm, then report them to blizzard.
OK, so its another way to charge people real money for boosts. Reportable, though tricky for Blizzard to trace/prove.
But Retail is already rife with real-money boosts, so I don’t see this as any kind of new threat, and Retailers would laugh at the thought of not being able to get raids without boosts … I would think it not that different in Classic tbh.
i am not saying its not true, i am saying whoever pays money for a raid spot is an idiot.
if the situation on your realm is so bad that you cant even find a guild who raids or in general a raidspot without paying real money, then its best to move to another realm anyways.
if you stay and pay money then thats on you and only you.
discord and other messengers have been around for ages and yet we are still able to raid without paying real money.
