While I wear the Ashbringer, scarlet crusade mobs from Plaguelands are still aggressive. I tested Andorhal and Tyr’s hand.
Secondary bug : Ashbringer’s life steal doesn’t seem to scale 1:1 though it is the same spell as all the other life steal spells, which do scale. Same bug on Neretzek. According to reports back then, it worked in vanilla, at least in patch 1.9 ; certainly on other patches too. I know Neretzek was flagged “not a bug”, but that’s a bit ludicrous as it is clearly the same spell as all the other iterations of life steal, which scale. And it worked back then.
I can confirm that only the SM scarlet crusade become friendly as there is the place where the event plays.
The Ashbringer not scaling with Spell Damage was a huge letdown for me too an unfortunately we most likely won’t be getting a fix since it’s a Paladin only thing and Blizzard doesn’t seem to care enough.
The sp scaling is sad indeed. There was a patch that nerfed lifesteal effects in Vanilla. I am not sure if Ashbringer was forgotten then.
But then again, because mostly only warriors get to do Naxx because of min maxing i mostly only see arms warrior with CA. I have only seen 1 paladin with it. But dozens of warriors. It is just sad. And I do not know if that paladin got it legit or just bought it in a gdkp getting carried.
And they let it rot in their bank as soon as they get MoM.

I actually was hyped by the idea to stack up spell+ gear on my warrior to meme in PvP ! So it’s not a paladin-only thing, it’ a paladin + meme thing. As it is fun and doesn’t break the game, it’s sad blizzard doesn’t put the 15 minutes of work necessary to correct this bug.
The Ashbringer scaling was one of the most disappointing things in classic for me
I have a paladin with almost BiS spelldmg gear on every item slot and i used Hakkari manslayer (which has the same tooltipp as Ashbringer) and Skullflameshield and the proccs are just insane…
Then i got Ashbringer and the procc is just bad
Maybe too OP if it would scale?
It’s a bit late now for a fix but better late than never!
Will the scaling change in TBC for skullflame shield or the Hakkari-Manslayer?
