This is obv a personal opinion, but the cosmetics from the DF factions so far are so underwhelming and basic…
I thought atleast the renown 27+ levels might have some unique and more complex stuff to them, but no they look almost like quest rewards cosmetics…
As a 2-hand plate player its even worse, the weapons are so bad…
What do you guys think ?
Yeah they could have made it in 2 parts, the basic ones on lower levels of renown some more complex tmog in the last levels of the renown, for me there is absolutely nothing to look forward to lvl 30 renown other then 1 primal infusion to upg my lariat.
Just like in SL where the “best color” sets were locked to stupid convenant features like the Kyrian colisseum stuff, and it was only a different color not something unique…
What good stuff? Those mounts suck and the tmog sets are all cloth… and not even that great, listen, id pay for a good tmog, because you can get good tmogs from raids/achiev etc, but they could also do some decent store tmogs.
Sadly the best ones are always FOMO in game so thats why im down to pay for a good one in shop.
What they could have done is to add more accessible armor types for every armor type. I am sure that those plate-wearers who wanted more simple armors, and non-plate looking ones are happy.
We already have a lot of fancy and flashy looking mogs, while simple mogs do not have that much variety, which grey and white quality gear becoming transmoggable may fix.
I was stupidly happy when I got mine. I have always wanted to be able to mog one but I could not as back then they were all white or grey weapons. This changed with DF and I’m beyond delighted.
I actually am a fan of the “underwhelming” cosmetics.
I don’t like flashy or overly ornate gear gear, and most gear with decently modern textures are one or the other. I like much plainer styles but if I want to mog that I’m mostly stuck with with very old gear that have ratty textures which are so old they will soon be able to legally drink alcohol.
Those who like much flashier styles have plenty to choose from already. Players with my taste have very little.
If its worth it, its worth it, im okay with that.
I dont raid mythic, i dont get 2k+ pvp score, so im always locked out of the best tmog.
So if they add quality tmog in store, im okay with it, every single game out there does it.
I agree. While I really love most of the expansion, it is really lackluster in terms of transmog rewards.
And I am not even saying what we get is bad, it is just like they focused only on one niche and forgot to implement real variety.
Compared to Shadowlands for example, it was one of my least liked expansion, but in terms of transmog looks, uniqueness and variety it was actually top tier. At least in my opinion.
yes. but i would say they look super ugly. its like a cosmetic set for homeless skin.
why would somebody even bother to get this crap? i can chill in old raid and epic skins.
I like the more basic ones, personally. I’ve wanted more “lowly adventurer using what they can” style mogs for a while, and these are great for that.
However, I do wish they weren’t so limited. I was sad to see that I can’t mog the Tuskarr set for some reason. Apparently it’s only for leather-wearers or something? I can only use the “ear warmers” that don’t cover the ears on elves, hahaha!
The best “flashy” tmog is high end raid or pvp, and thats what? 1-5% of playerbase?
We get to use more flashy stuff cuz the game is old and we can farm older mythic raids.
PVP is just gated and fomo…
This is very misleading. Sure a small percentage of the playerbase get to raid current content, but the raids aren’t removed when the tier is over. Farming old raids in small groups or solo is one of the most common ways to get transmog items, and that has been the case since transmog came to the game.
Meanwhile players who like plainer looking gear really only have Vanilla/Cataclysm leveling content to get transmog gear, and if they have Vanilla textures (which a huge amount do) they just don’t look good because they’re almost two decades old.
It’s about time Blizzard add more variety to transmog options. Now if they can start giving clothies less dresses and more tunics I’d be so happy.
Whilst there is no problem with them adding more plain looking transmogs to the game. The Renown transmogs are overwhelming plain and boring.
Remember that “small percentage” of the player base you mention, have already cleared the renown and have collected those transmogs. It would have just been nice to have something a little more memorable to add to our collections, as well as silly hats and shovels.
I agree that there should be more options than the plainer gear for renown. I just wanted to dispell the notion that the raid gear is basically off-limits to most of the playerbase. Sure it can suck to wait until you can farm the mogs, but that’s far better than rarely seeing mogs you would like even being added to the game…which is often the case for those who don’t like flashy stuff. Glad that’s finally changing.
But yea the true spirit of variety would present more styles for renown rewards.
You’re throwing around Values on the size of player base again.
I’m only really highlighting this, because I was in another thread and someone was arguing the exact opposite to you and saying that Raiders and End-gamers are the Majority, and players like yourself are the minority.
In reality, its probably that both parties (and all the others) are of equal size. And perception of Majority/Minority really depends on your friendlist and your own view point.
Putting that one to rest.
In my opinion, I look through the appearances tab and see Valdrakken Citizens Clothing (which is available through Renown), and can’t for the life of me work out why Blizzard felt the need to include it as a Set. It’s a 3 piece, low resolution, flat skin like any you would find in Vanilla.
Now they could have done many things to this set which keeps it plain and simple, but adding uniqueness, abit of flair and more exciting to receive as a reward. For example look at the Recruit a Friend Transmog. It’s pretty plain and simple, but it has 3D elements which make it desirable. Why not make these renown items as exciting as that?
Ur somehow strawmanning me into the narrative that i dont want people to have basic tmog options, which is not true, all im saying is: sure have all that but like you said in the spirit of variety give the rest of us something more complex then body painting cloth and pitchforks and basic axe/polearms/etc.
