Crafting orders need an update

can’t believe it’s still the same in TWW.

can’t set minimum quality in public order, just standing around hoping for a blacksmith/tailor/inscriptor/leatherworker to be able to make these bloody proff tools

update this already or just let me buy it on the auction house, makes it so much easier i want to play the game instead of standing around waiting

It is so rare that anyone post a crafting order, and the npc ones are expensive as hell.

It would be nice, if we could just craft our stuff, and post it on the AH, the workorder system feels like a pointless hoop to jump through.

How would it work with sparks, missives and embellishments? Considering the first has to be soulbound otherwise people could sell mythic level crafted gear, and the rest would create dozens of combinations.

They could start by removing soulbound crafting materials, the timegating of professions is ridiculous. Ever since Expulsom in BfA, soulbound crafting materials have made life miserable for crafters, especially crafting on alts.

The item in question could be a useless shell, traded on the AH, and needing a spark to activate it. With slots for missives/embelishments.

But you do realize crafting has to be gated somehow, otherwise the first person to be able to unlock the recipe could just flood the entire market with 640 ilvl or whatever items whose price would immediately drop to the cost of mats, which would drop to zero thanks to overfarming?
There’s a reason these systems are in place.

Look right above you. Talanus has the right idea, this would gate people from gearing up too fast and cheap, without punishing the crafters.

That’s basically how legendaries worked in SL.

Plus blizz could accomplish this by literally just letting people select a minimum quality in public orders, as OP suggested.
In the end you guys just want to avoid talking to crafters in the trade channel, that’s all this is about. I’m not judging, just pointing out a fact.

This is the sole reason why I will never put in a public crafting order for anything that has a rank. In fact, it renders the whole system nearly useless to me and makes getting crafted gear an unnecessary hassle.

Yeah this could work really well.

I am not trying to avoid to talk to anyone. I just want work, and I am 100% sure, that we would sell more, by being able to put all our good on the AH.

Trade channel is barely ever used for trade talk anyway.

I feel the workorder system is a failed experiment.

Pretty bold to just assume you know our intentionens.

I dont mind the system in general, I just hate all the different qualities of materials, its boring and takes up too much space.

Whether it’s the pointless social interaction, the spam in trade chat or the lack of efficiency doesn’t really matter. I agree it’s lame, but I wouldn’t just diss the entire order system.

The biggest hurdle in WoW’s professions has always been limiting supply without making it feel too artificial .
This never really worked, and the price of crafted items quickly drops to the price of ingredients. Concentration may be the solution IF profs are tuned so it’s impossible to craft a max quality item at 100% chance, because then your crafting gear/skills etc. will affect how much you can craft, but it’s more balanced than for example giving crafters 10 soulbound items per week they can use to craft.

The problem with crafting a placeholder item is it kills the diversity. Look at patreon orders and pretend they’re from real players and that they’re shared with other crafters.
One crafter looks at an order and thinks “with my skills this order isn’t worth crafting, I’d lose money”, but for another, it’s a good deal.
If we’d all be crafting placeholders it’s the same as flasks in alchemy. It would quickly become shallow and the crafting cost would quickly drop to the price of the mats.

The entire crafting order system and the general crafting system sucks to be honest.

The 3 tier material are a joke, if you go out to even farm these mats you are greeted with underwhelming return for several hours of rotational flying.

The Order system to help us build up the points to ‘master’ the system is woeful, and the NPC order should come with the material needed instead of making you have to spend your resources.

Overall not enjoyed any part of the new crafting style and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Yesterday I sold all the gathered material, I will happily pay someone else with more patience to this absolute horror fest than get annoyed over it anymore

also, can we get a change that if the requested item just happens to be in my bag then i could fulfill the order as well? who cares if it was crafted before or it is a new one, why do i have to recraft it again if it takes only my mats?

Just sell the base item on the AH. Create an NPC where you can purchase the upgrade provided you have the mats for it. And for crying out loud, get rid of the stupid gating around professions. I know many that are not touching professions at all anymore. It is a stupid inane system.

Just make that order table from other perspective .

Make a big board, let crafters put them their items and quality they can craft, with desired mats and and their fee .

Then let customer to choose their crafter based on their price and required mats .

Ezpz , everything will work like now, but people wont have to spam like mad and customers dont need to read 483929 mesages a second , and whisp 15 people their prices and mats

I don’t mind the system per se, but if you’re not in a big guild and you’re on a quiet server, it sucks to skill up. All you can do is pay a fortune for the materials and vendor the items at a massive loss, because the patron orders are an epic fail, and there are virtually zero public orders. I’d be happy if you got less from a patron order, but they supplied the materials and gave more orders to choose from which are more diverse.

And needing 15 inventory slots for 5 herb types is plain stupid IMHO.

Except, everybody looks at a patreon order and thinks

but we kinda have to do them since they’re the primary source of knowledge points.

I was talking about the concept, not the reward obviously.
