Crafting orders were fixed.. right?

https://imgur.com/a/vh2bc2H

Make it make sense. I have to supply ALL the materials with a current AH price of 75 THOUSAND gold, for 10 Artisan’s Acuity, 1 x Apprentice’s Crafting License (worth 250g) and my cut of 56g.

I’m at a loss for words.

What if you uncheck use best quality Reagents?

I skip patron orders when they want me to spend on ridiculously expensive materials. It’s just wrong.

I don’t really know what they are thinking with those but I also thought they were meant to have improved it. I guess not!

It makes no difference as I don’t have any of the materials on hand. The cheapest I can get the materials on my server is about 70k using R1/R2 variants.

I consider this to be an outright scam when the Patron doesn’t offer a single material for the craft.

This is the fix. The npcs should provide all mats.

At least the most expensive ones.
I should add that there were about 5 more “normal” crafting orders that I have already completed that weren’t too bad. It’s just this one that blew my mind.

Ahh, but then we have the other funny situation where the NPC provides you with trash mats (which you are forced to use) and demands a max quality craft

They , fixed, it. Just like m+

Patron orders are what people complained public orders were in DF: High quality crafts with no mats provided for an offensively low tip. With the added insult of us being expected to do them “because this is the main source of knowledge points”.
I do them for the weekly quest on my tailor main, but since it’s impossible to keep up with mats I have barely even looked at the enchanter’s patron orders. The rest of my professions are gonna have to make due with what the DMF provides

Enchanting orders are like 80% glamours. Get these talents: https://www.wowhead.com/profession-tree-calc/enchanting/BDuzGC4QJDPBF

It doesn’t matter what you are working on now, just get them. It will cost you 20 points, but you will get 23 from first craft bonuses (and already after 5 points you can start crafting to start earning back points). Yes, that’s a 3 point gain. Whatever you are working on now, you will get faster by going for glamours first, assuming you have 5 points to get that ball rolling.

And then you can easily make every glamour crafting order, because you know all those recipes and you are quite competent at making glamours. Glamours only cost a few hundred gold to make and you only need to keep three materials on hand because they all use the same mats.

I don’t need to know the recipes - I need materials. Patron orders don’t provide materials which means I need to get them from somewhere. Gear doesn’t drop like we’ve been used to; for some bizarre reason the material that should be the easiest to come by is the most difficult because green gear definitely doesn’t drop, so now I can go spend a gazillion gold on the AH for what? 10 acuity and maybe a knowledge point? I kinda think not

They are cheap materials, sometimes patrons provide them, and sometimes you straight up profit from the work order. Right now it would cost under 500g to fill such an order entirely with your own mats. :dracthyr_shrug:

With the 4 patron orders I currently have for enchanting it’ll cost me 13K+ to fill them if I bought the materials on the AH, I’d get 265 gold and 80 acuity for my trouble (not a single knowledge point).

Now, I could provide my own materials, sure, but storm dust isn’t easy to come by (yes, apparently I should’ve gone with Supplementary Shattering, but once again I didn’t think green gear would be practically non-existent after reaching lvl 80) and since tailoring requires that stuff for Exquisite Weavercloth Bolt (which patrons rarely provide in my experience), I am going to run out sooner rather than later, which means going to the AH and buy them. And 50g a piece might not be a lot to you but it is definitely at least 49 more than I’m prepared to pay for something I shouldn’t have to provide materials for in the first place.

(and really, if I wanted to pay for the “privilege” of crafting something, then I’d offer it to the rando next to me rather than Blizzard, at least the former would be able to use it)

Unpopular opinion: The system is fine. Not every NPC crafting order is supposed to be completed and be a net positive for the player.

Simply don’t do it. That’s it. You don’t lose anything.

And I much preferred the system we had in DF, where we got 2 weekly quests for knowledge points and then whatever we cba to find in treasures.

Now we can get to see knowledge points going down the drain bc we lack the mats/funds or the recipe for them.

I’m glad you like the system, truly I am, but I don’t

(and I didn’t expect to get gold from patron orders. I expected it to be something that made it possible to do “craft x orders” without having to involve an Alt.)

I might be wrong, but didn’t there use to be more ways of earning Artisan’s Acuity early in the expansion? From dirt piles or whatever? Since that was removed the Patron work orders are effectively the only source, thus the system is not fine.

I saw some patron orders that were definitely better, i.e. more materials provided than previously, and some that were no better. I’m hoping that the bad ones were carryover from before the hotfix, and that we’ll see more improvement going forward.

You used to get a heap of them from a NPC in Valdrakken each weekly reset.
