Cross-faction garrison visits. Please...?

So, now that Cross-faction dungeon and raids are possible, why are Garrisons left out? Garrisons are excellent for RP and there is no reason why they shouldn’t be visit-able by representatives of other faction now.
Just make it work exactly the same way as it does for the same-faction group. Add the function “Visit leader’s garrison” and allow Horde players to tp into Alliance garrison for as long as the leader remains there.
Very, very please!

P.S. I didn’t use forums in years, so I’ve no idea why it got posted in AD section. Sorry about that, move if needed

And what would you do then?

At this garrison of yours?

Hold RP events of course, just as I mentioned in the first post. Since it’s all that we have for a ‘guild meeting’ or ‘player housing’ in this game

I’ll admit that I’ve thought it’d be cool for a crossfaction seafaring guild to be able to use one of the Garrison’s dockyards but uhhhh

Yeah. I think we know what it would sadly mostly be used for.

Tbf, not really a reason to not give that to the players.

Lots of places (hidden or not) are used by people like that, as is crossfaction communication, yet none opposes that!

Why would we deny the appeal of something good/useful for ourselves, just because others might use it ‘poorly’?

Given the vague and hesitant tone you’ve taken, it suggests you don’t actually know – which, in turn, makes it a pretty unfair thing to say, especially when it distracts from a reasonable suggestion they’ve made.

I’d be pretty happy with cross-fac garrisons. They’re really good backdrops for a ton of RP types. Would just be a positive, really!

I kind of hate how the garrisons have a suspicious rep. I’m not saying it’s entirely undeserved, but a lot of the buildings are the HD alternative to old world stuff… but you just know someone on your friends list will be like :eyes: if they see you there.

I digress. Sticking to the point here, I see no good reason not to allow it.

One screenshot of one person depicting nothing explicit does not a justification make. It just lends the idea that you’re grasping at very little to retrospectively justify a needlessly toxic post.

But, I’ll probably leave it there and focus on the OP:

With more cross-faction features coming out over time, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually got something like this. But it’s also doubtful because Blizzard rarely touches old content, if ever.

As someone who was heavily into Guild Wars 2 roleplay for years (still am, casually albeit), Garrisons have the same unfortunately deserved rep as home instances do in that game. 1:1, these two.

But they’re all also too good locations to go to waste. The Alliance garrison in particular has a very dear place in my heart, it’s just comfortable. More adventuring / merc guilds could use them so well as bases of operation, just to name one idea outta the few.

Yeah, the reputation of garrisons being used as an ERP venue isn’t unearned, but sadly that reputation is itself used to apply a stigma to people who use the garrison for any reason.

I really hope so. I’ve been on a 2 year break and just returned. Always wanted to main a goblin but all of my friends are on Alliance. We used to have many great events in the garrison, especially in the tavern, which is just the best!
I was really excited about the cross-faction idea and hoped it would work in garrisons too. But today attempted to get it work with a friend and it didn’t. Real mood-killer

Good taste

One step at a time, my friend.

They have only just permitted us to level in content together by letting us tag and complete on the same mobs.

Alright, I’ll be hopeful. But garrisons are old content, so I’m afraid it might be overlooked. And I didn’t just create this thread as soon as I tested the feature, I searched on and outside these forums - couldn’t find anybody talking about this particular issue anywhere

Same. One thing I always wanted/still want for WoW is housing, and Garrisons at the time were the closest thing too it and pretty cool.

I’ve not used mine since WoD however due to the lack of need to go back there, but in basically every game I play or played, even non-mmos, ive always loved having a base or place as my characters home, especially if I can build or edit stuff myself.

Most of the times I might not even use them, but I don’t know, I always liked the idea of characters having a little place of their own.

Basically every major MMO besides WoW has at least some form of player-housing. It’s a shame Blizzard haven’t realised that features like housing are actually really big draws for players.

Wildstar had the best one. Game’s been dead for so long, Blizz could just grab their old system at least without much accusation of copying someone else.

As someone who’s been using it for years as my go-to OOC hangout idling spot chatting with friends it bothers me how much of the server goes  whenever they see you’re lurking at the garrison. Hysteria is what it is.
