So, there are no cross-faction-pools for unrated BGs, as many of us hoped. Ok, was copium.
You can just invite a battle.net friend from the other faction and queue, but you don’t even get to keep the race of your character, your race is switched like in Merc Mode.
So, this is basically just Merc Mode without having to run to the Merc NPC. That is the whole feature.
Missed opportunity from Blizzard, a shame that I can’t play with specific racial passives & abilities but instead revert to a race that is not desired, if anything I expected it to be exactly how Rated Battlegrounds & Blitz was supposed to be, unfortunately it is not the case, I believe this should be addressed.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that when I queued with my friends in a Alterac Valley joining Horde side whilst being Alliance player, it doesn’t let me use the Stormpike/Frostwolf toy of teleportation to offer defensive support, instead I have to run all the way down, bit inconvenient.
You should not have high expectations. It is going to stay how it is. You will automatically be changed to a horde race if you merx. If the game didnt change it you would have been seen as a red target by horde. If you dont want to lose your racial ability I have a simple solution for you; dont play merx. If you want to play horde then create a new character.
There is no need for it to be addressed. Blizzard is giving you the opportunity to play for the other faction for free and that is a luxury if your alliance and want to escape the long ques. You should be thankful.
Stop trolling, my friend
The whole casual BG scene could have been improved. Ain’t nobody gonna play their beloved toon if they get switched to another character in the process + all those mercenary bugs are (apparently) still an issue with this new feature. It just sucks hard
I should, I am a paying customer, but I am not going to lose sleep over it, I am providing a feedback to Blizzard/Microsoft, is it up to them to respond to said Feedback, it’d be nice if they said ‘No’ Publicly, but it is the principle of things, and in this case, communication to their consumers.
I am generally thankful of many things, and in this case, the fact that it has expanded matchmaking to this point for the convenience of playing with friends no matter the faction. however, my feedback still stands and I will insist until Blizzard responds.
If they said so and did not implement it I would understand why you feel upset. However, they did not mention anything about keeping your race in battleground, so I dont know why your upset.
What they mentioned is this: Your friend from opposing faction and you can join a battleground together while in a group. If your leader of the group, you will be playing as alliance. And if he is leader of the group, as horde.
Simple as that. That is what Blizzard stated in their patch notes. Please read carefully next time.
They never elaborate much anymore on what’s going to happen on Retail.
They don’t announce much anymore; they throw hints here and there, or images, and then leave us players there guessing what they meant.
They announced cross facion Random BGS, which is quite a change, finally.
It was obvious you would be able to play with your opposite faction friends from today.
But the details of this were never announced.
Many people were waiting for today to change faction and give each other fast queues whenever needed. Infact, can’t really do that, cause your race also changes in Bgs. So no point faction changing for this, just keep mercing.
This. People pay only €13 per month to play best mmo in the world yet expect to be treated like kings. I would feel ashamed to give this amount as tip to a waiter.
To be honest, crossfaction stink and having horde characters in the alliance breaks the immersion of the game. This is an MMO-RPG and everything has revolved around alliance vs horde conflict.
I can understand cross-faction in rated PvP, but it shouldn’t go beyond that.
The races must change if you play in the other faction to maintain the role and more immersion. I don’t want to be playing normal random bgs with the Horde and be surrounded by humans, gnomes and other races of the Alliance or the other way around, I have enough with rated pvp. So yes, it seems right to me that they don’t maintain the breed.
Theoretically, if you solo queue, or play in a full 5 man horde premade, should not make much difference, it is only when your party leader is of the opposite faction. What blizzard needs to do is ramp up more “PvP” production and give a proper faction war mode in the form of War Mode questing or a revamped “Call to arms” weekly quest period of any specific Battleground, say for example the Warsong/Silverwing or Defilers/Arathors providing bonus rep, honor and conquest on said specific battlegrounds. And maybe bring new PvP cosmetic from said events.
There was a time when I would have agreed with you.
Lore-wise, Horde vs. Alliance is just not believable anymore. Imagine being a Tauren-Druid, you helped Sylvanas burn the World Tree. How would that make sense. In general, BFA was the last time where Horde vs. Alliance “somehow” suited. We play most of our story in the latest expansions helping each other, putting allied races that we helped during the quests or zones (LF Draenei, MechaGnomes) into a specific faction felt too forced in many cases (e.g Vulpera on Horde). It is just stupid. 95% of questing content is “we” against some greater evil. And we have some races that are on both factions already, like Elves, Pandaren, Dracthyr.
And in BGs, you say in unrated BGs you don’t want races of the other faction on your side. But especially in unrated BGs people use Toys or Transmogs to be anything I see nightelf hunters running around in Sylvanas transmog. Red Draeneis, Tauren Paladins. Nightelf mages…
TBH, all that makes no sense anymore. Horde vs. Alliance WAS a thing a long time ago. The advantages we would get from a single pool of players for casual PvP would be far greater.
not gonna lie, this implementation is really a let down. Just make rnd bg blitz-ish. We still have 3 different version of EoTS. No wonder new players are confused, when they zone into blitz for the first time.
We talked about this. Marran TrollBane vs Geyarah’s forces say the opposite xD
We can agree that BFA’s narrative was sh*t. To begin with, the tree was more than 50 miles from the coast, so it could not be reached with simple catapults. And if sequoias don’t burn, a tree miles thick and tall in the sea shouldn’t.
But it is never too late to get Lore back on the right track.
As a roleplayer, I don’t care at all about the lore when I am playing battlegrounds. It’s just team red vs team blue to me. Mixing factions is a good idea.
I wonder why most people writing in this thread are chronic random bgs 5-man premaders
Also they didn’t announce cross-faction BGs, they announced cross-faction groups queuing
It was obvious that party members would be merc’d to match the leader’s faction
Yeah, those are literally the only NPCs i remember questing being “mmhh, i actually hate you guys!” But were working together anyway. 99% of questing is still both factions together^^
