If they do that they’d have to remove the language barriers across all servers because, let’s face it, people would just move to RP servers for their smacktalk.
An acceptable sacrifice. Especially if it’s an option in the menu.
This is in line with what was said during a BlizzCon Q&A. Blizzard feel there is no reason for XF chat because we’re at war. It’s dumb but that is their reason.
Looks at all the neutral factions that exist
War. Sure.
You would have thought that Americans would have an understanding that people -can- go to War, whilst speaking the same language. I mean it isn’t like their nation was founded upon such an occurrence and it hasn’t rather famously happened not only in their own nation, but in many nations historically…
I guess the whole franchise is now impossible, if the denizens of Quel’thalas inexplicably do not speak Common, then Human Mage as a class is impossible and must be removed from the game, which means no Medivh which means no World of Warcraft…
What utter idiocy.
Unfortunately I expect Ion and co are actually confused. He seemed very thrown off by the idea that we might want to talk to the other half of the playerbase, and seemed very earnest when he said “Why would you?”
Then an improvement of the reporting services must be done then to compensate? Or perhaps a test of sorts to ensure the right type of people are on the server? There’s a whole lot of things Blizzard can do to accommodate roleplayers in very simple but highly effective ways but don’t because the collective voice from RP servers is minuscule, which demands us shout extremely loud in their ears.
I mean, I’m pretty sure Blizzard think their playerbase behaves like in those Battle for Azeroth “declare your allegiance” adverts with awkward as hell things like a girl choosing to stand in the rain rather than take place under an opposite faction’s umbrella. Unironically I remember a comment under one of those YouTube videos saying
World of Warcraft, killing social interactions since 2004.
On a more serious note, it’s baffling no Blizzard employee has come out with a proper statement on the issue of CrossRP. I kind of refuse to believe a topic with over 600 likes would just get unnoticed by Blizzard.
This can go two ways:
One, they automate it, meaning you’ll be able to flagnuke someone out of the game.
Two, it doesn’t happen, because they’d have to take on a lot more staff to deal with reports.
I honestly get plenty of abuse from my own faction. If EVERY ITHER MMO ON THE PLANET is anything to go by, people will be toxic to the other side for a few days then just stop. At that point anyone who acts up you just ignore and report like any other toxic player.
While unfortunate I believe it is better to start to focus on your own solutions as to how to interact with the opposite faction. Whenever Blizzard decides to make a bad decision, when do they ever go back on it?
It may be cynical (or accurate), but we’re nearing 2019 and Blizzard has proved to be less transparent and with less communication than perhaps ever. I applaud the attempt to have your voices heard, but its voices they turn a deaf ear to - especially the RP community.
Two things that CAN be done, is to participate in this thread: Live Developer Q&A Friday, 14 December – Submit Your Questions - #191 by Proklet-executus
Give a like to the posts regarding cross faction communication. Right now they’re currently the questions with most likes, so it’s going to be rather awkward for Blizzard to blandly ignore that topic.
Same goes to this post from the developer of Cross RP, which is so far up on almost 650 likes. Give it a like and share your stories of what cross faction communication means to you. Imagine if it reaches the 2000 likes - it’d just make a clear statement from all the players who actively used it, and wants it.
THEN WHY DO YOUR NPCS TALK TO EACH OTHER, YOU PATRONISING MEATSACK?!?!??!
Uuuuggghh, that hacks me off SO much. Stupid, stupid, LAZY bloody answer. Not impressed!!
“We don’t want people to be able to communicate cross faction…”
Except for Pandarians, Void and Blood Elves, Demon Hunters.
OH and that entire community system you launched with fricking BFA!
No wonder BFA is losing players, the developers are actually idiots.
Here, a direct link to the first crossRP post. I recommend using the summarize topic function to see the rest of them after.
Added my own response to this and posted on reddit.
Hopefully there will be some reference to it in Q&A
F***ing Blizzard. F***ing braindead idiots.
I’ve always hated the swear culture and I don’t condone that sort of language toward anyone, which I suppose makes me a hypocrite here. But lately I’ve been using way more of that sort of language because I’m just so utterly fed up, I’m done trying to have faith in Blizzard, defend anything they do and seeing them betray my trust and let me down over and over again. This is f***ing like an abusive relationship by now, the old times have never looked better. The social suicide meter is full and overflowing.
I don’t think anything but actual unsubbing will change Blizzard’s mind. And I will most definitely do so, as soon as my RP has reached a point where I’m not dropping any plot arcs randomly.
You know, D&D is looking like a very appealing alternative. Especially so since you don’t have to adhere to Blizzard’s absolute bull***t lore and conduct.
“It’s war”… “Why would you want to chat with the enemy”… Utter bulls***t.
Honestly bombarding the QnA and Twitter is the best bet. I just hope the US equivalent is also bombarded.
I want to think Ion will at least address the issue but I am almost certain the entire issue will be ignored.
Judging by some of the replies I’m reading here, Blizz has every reason to keep cross-faction talk as unavailable as possible.
