Pretty much that. Even when I’ve not liked Blizzards direction or additions I’ve been happy that they’ve been put in for people who do like them, or that Blizzard had a long term idea. And god knows I’ve attacked Blizzard a lot lately.

But there’s always been something that made me stay and go “ok, you done goofed… again… but you have enough good will over the years for me to wait and see regardless, it’ll improve.”… I’m not sure anymore.

I don’t even use cross-rp, it actually broke and stopped me from being to see what a guildie was saying so that was… fun. + my characters don’t speak alliance languages, though I’m still not sure if Orc is common or an actual language, if it’s Common then ok but if it’s an actual language then the Forsaken learned it real, real fast after dying heh.

But yeah this is… I doubt it’s intentional in and of itself but it’s definitely indicative of how little attention Blizzard pays to what its various communities are doing and I don’t see how to trust a developer that isn’t aware of its communities, I just don’t.

It’s not “omg I’m quitting the game” but stuff like this pushes it damned close, especially with more RP friendly games on the market.

I’m close to being in your position as well. There’s no appealing alternatives for me, so I’ve sticked with WoW so far.
I wouldn’t say that too many games are as RP-friendly as WoW, though. It’s either an issue with their lore, aesthetics or their chat/server infrastructure that usually irk me most. Or in some cases, addon interaction; ESO, while fun for a time, was a chore to RP in because character details shone with their absence.

I seriously hope you’re trolling. Just because a small group of people get a bit silly with an RP tool shouldn’t make it deserved to be removed.

Let’s remove RP profile addons because people can use them to RP in a way we don’t like! Let’s remove btag chat since it allows x-fac communication! Hell let’s ban the forums too, people might start using them to talk across factions for RP! Screw it, let’s delete the chat box and communicate entirely in pre-set emotes because anything else lets people RP in slightly odd ways!

Perhaps.

But the sad things is these days I legitimately cannot tell the difference between trolling and people who genuinely believe in the absolutely @ssbackwards thinking that has become prevalent over the last few years. There are people who, after some back and forth, turn out to actually believe these things.

If Blizzard is taking down this intentionally they want to kill the rp part of the game too? Like seriously this is a very bad news to the rp community and blizzard shooting themself in the foot once again from a financial perspective! Many of the event’s our amazing community has done cross rp have been a crucial factor to make it work. Some of my freind are even quiting becouse of this, I really hope that this is a mistake or I will have to go to Blizzcon 2019 to convince blizz myself :rofl:

Its just a shame really, since we will all miss out on so much fun. I wont be able to yell on Marlight any more in common. And thats a damn shame.

And quite honestly, no other addon to date has able to deal with the ammount of players that Cross RP was and with ease, at that. Forget Ogrepowered event. Tjat was a SMALL one when you compare it to Drums of war, which had over a thousand people in it. It had so many people in it that admins had to start removing inactive people to make room for newcommers.

And the addon did that with ease. Allowed us all to communicate IC and OOC without any hassle, allowing us quick and ease communications with the other side in REAL TIME. And thats something no other addon or Discord can do.

Every time two ‘enemy’ characters use bnet to chat I can’t help but picture each of them typing on mobile phones to text each other instead.

This. Feels quite immersion-breaking. Cross-RP was just… really, REALLY good, it was a perfect fix for cross-faction RP limitations.

But thats the point, you cant really connect SO many people with RP connect. With Cross RP you very well could. And easily. And did, for that matter. It was done i like 5 mouse clicks. No need to set up anything or hope a certain person you hat on btag was online and had RP connect. You just hit connect on cross rp and voila, works.

You can still tie your Community chat to your chat boxes, mind. But it won’t show up in your game world, there’s no separation between /s and /e, and you only see the Battletag names.
