Apparently the number of times I can click Like on these forums is limited as well.
“Thanks for sharing the love! You only have a few likes left for today.”
Blizzard really don’t like us having too much fun or sharing too much love and clearly CrossRP overstepped that limit.
Having run a faction neutral guild for years, the Bnet Communities and CrossRP addon finally brought it all together in a way that had never been possible before. Using CrossRP for the first time felt like pure magic, and continued to do so every time I used it. It opened up so many venues for roleplay and stories to expand.
I sincerely hope Blizzard can fix this and give us back the functionality, even though it rises far above whatever fun they think we’re allotted in our game time. We pay real money for this game time. As long as we’re not harming anyone, Blizzard should have no say over what we do with our time. They should always provide us with options, not stifle our freedom and creativity like this.
Oh for crying out loud… Ofcourse Blizzard takes away something fun ones more. It’s in their nature. Soon they will be the Forsaken! All of them… With their expensive gucci shoes… I hope there will be a way to fix it again oh please! High and mighty addon maker, you are what we want! Make tide of vengance great again! Oh please addon maker, for i shall call you santa.
If Blizzard does not want one faction to be able to communicate with the other, I believe that should be demonstrated, in total, by the content of the game.
By that, I mean NPCs of opposite factions should no longer be able to understand each other.
What’s that? That actively harms the ability for Blizzard to tell the story of their game? Please do tell the roleplaying community how that feels.
Fair. The lack of quote boxes still throws me off on this forum.
It came off as though you were somehow blaming Cross RP for poor prisoner RP or implying that because it’s war no prisoners should be taken, I don’t know the specific context of the campaign or what happened in it though. But what I do know is prisoner RP can be done well and Cross RP only helped to facilitate that.
I won’t pretend it’s not a brow raiser when someone gets themselves captured for the umpteenth time in a single day. But that’s a different topic altogether, we’ve just had iffy prisoner RP since the day the severs opened. And while Cross RP may have made such cases more common we shouldn’t disregard the times it helped improve it and provide interesting scenarios when handled well.
I know but when other people just press reply I don’t see a quote of whatever they reply to. I was just scrolling down and saw a back and forth about what I presumed was the language barrier in wartime. And already being in a sour mood from the breaking of this add-on and already seeing tons of the “iT’s wAr!” excuse given for the language barrier whenever the topic comes up? Well.
“It’s war” is the single most idiotic excuse around, though, agreed. You’d actually be handicapping yourself by not learning your enemy’s language and customs, as it opens up weak points and vulnerabilities to exploit, not to forget the ability to infiltrate them or read their intelligence reports.
I think now Blizzard’s decided they’re cracking down on Cross-Faction communication(???) according to comments on the reddit post in regards to an update to the US Terms. So remember, don’t use Pandaren, Demonic or Thalassian to talk to the other faction, because Blizz decided it’s now a violation.
Edit: I’ve just now submitted a ticket to see if I can get confirmation on what these means about using languages such as Demonic/Thalassian/Pandaren to communicate with the other faction.
Not gonna lie, I would buy that. If it was permanently and for all characters on my account then yea, hit me up. Problem is they should do it more simple. Get exalted with language primary faction capital you wanna learn (for example Orgrimmar for Orcish which then unlocks on all characters even Alliance) and boom, they can show their investors or w/e that people are playing.
Blizzard seems to have their current agenda to piss off as many people as humanly possible. No content, no nothing. People go ham over the state of BfA and they just spit in the face of all communities. Even their most loyal one that doesn’t even require new content, being the RP community. What is Blizzard’s issue currently? Do they really want all their communities to be pissed off?
Diablo community
WoW community
At this point I am just waiting for them to piss off the Overwatch community.
As an Overwatch player myself I can imagine why. They just buffed heroes that needed nerfs. Sounds to me like an issue that exists in every Blizzard game though. Either too weak or too strong. Millionen dollar company that has only studied people. But they can’t figure out how to balance things. Even when playing their own game like Overwatch. So weird.
Over 2000 people consistently breaking the terms of service by violating the ban on circumventing the cross faction communication ban? Of course it’d get shut down.
Now to shut down the rest of the rulebreaking with strict chat limits on offensive, vulgar language like lewdness, racism, swearing and depictions of violence and we’ll have a WoW in full compliance with its own rules as we conduct our in-lore race wars of extermination.
/snark/
Ultimately an unsurprising move since corporate power and Almighty Marketing demands the widest possible appeal and aversion toward causing offense. The sad reality of that is treating RPers like obnoxious basement dwellers who break rules for fun rather than a reliable (vanishingly small, shrinking) customer base.
You know the US terms are telling something else than the EU terms. In the US terms it is pretty much allowed while in the EU terms it is not. Not sure what Blizzard is doing on that thing but someone else brought it up on Reddit and so will I: if it really is not allowed to cross-talk then I guess we finally can ban all void elves, blood elves and anyone who choose a demon hunter. Aswell as pandaren and all NPC’s ingame that ever cross-communicated in the lore.
If “being offensive” is such a problem then I recommend deactivating the chat like in Hearthstone over all. The reality is I can see Blizzard doing that currently because they apparently can only do questionable decisions anymore that earn them only bad press.
“Let’s kill our sub numbers even more obviously. It isn’t enough yet. Let’s decrease it more and more” - Blizzard HQ probably.
