Why are we still unable to play classic and retail at the same time?
One active game per licence, after all you can only play one game at once.
Besides it’s Blizzards game they can do what they like but I think it’s a technical limitation otherwise we could play multiple retails or classic at the same time too.
We can. Just get a second account.
Then transfer you characters to it as well.

I don’t think they said that, I would have remembered. Unless of course you can link it.
What does it matter if they said that? It’s obviously the case since you are able to play on several clients simultaneously as long as its on different accounts. It’s a license limitation as you said.
Well it’s a lot different if they can’t do it or won’t do it.
It’s most certainly the case of “won’t do it” as it probably just requires changing some pieces of code to remove the limitation.
So that’s your guess, I wonder what the real reason is.
Well, yeah I obviously don’t know why they don’t want to remove the limitation but for sure it’s not impossible.
Feel free to think what you will, I remember that they have said it and you should be able to find it in one of the interviews (video or text).
Either way mind you, its not rocket science. Its two separate video games.
