I’ll drink to that, my child! Starting, of course, with Long Beards For Humans! #LBFH!
Actually, according to a friend of mine, velves have the least possible customisations out of all allied races (or are among them), and what they got so far was the high elf customs and the dark ranger stuff (the latter shared with other elves). But velf specific stuff wasn’t on the table ever, so no tattoos or unique hairstyles and the like.
A few other allied races, as well as a few core ones, got a lot of stuff either at SL launch or during this expansion itself.
However, their fanbase likely isn’t that big as those of the elves (judging from the customisation threads’ popularity, look at nightborne and velf threads), and as they are more vocal… I mean, a lot of players, myself included, play elves for this or that reason.
I don’t wanna brag here or anything but, it’s probably best to please every major race with customisations. So with that I hope we elves too will get a bit of something when DF launches, but I’d like the other races to have a bit of love too. There’s a player behind every character, be it a panda monk, orc DK, human paladin or belf DH and all of them want their characters to be a proper extension of themselves.
Remember, the nelf zone was destroyed (“revamped”) and with SL they got a lot of stuff.
Maybe if we lose Silvermoon suddenly, we too get a good bunch of customisation as compensation but… would rather not see Silvermoon in ruins. Would make me so sad… Eversong Woods is the prettiest zone
Blizzard could add new customization now and then for each race, doesn’t have to be alot and eventually all races would have alot of customizations to choose from. Like they added 3 new hairstyles for Kultirans, and 3 for Mag’har orcs or something and it does not have to be in a “big” patch, they could just put it in a server reset. Just minor things and and eventually all races would have alot of customizations.
Also why blood elves didn’t get much was because blood elves already had more customization than any other race before Shadowlands.
only thing missing for blood elves are tattoos, scars for both and beards for males. The beards they can copy and paste from the male void elves for the blood elf males since its nothing that indicates that is void based. Well maybe some different looks for the ears like maybe wounded ear or one side has half clipped ear. and maybe customize their hair ribbon for Blood elf colors on some hairstyles that have High elf colors.
Some think that void elves have more faces than blood elves but the problem is that they are identical to the old faces minus 2 faces that was never included of the old faces but they are all blood elf faces so no new faces. Blizzard just haven’t bothered to remove them from being linked to blood elf skins and void elf skins.
Then for hairstyles for void elves, sure blizzard could copy paste, but they could also make new ones for void elves. For the female hairstyles for example they look more wild style than noble hairstyle, even if the female void elf do have 3 blood elf hairstyles. Blizzard just changed them abit and then added a tentacle and called it void elf hairstyles. they could do that, change the blood elf hairstyles and then just add tentacle or they could just make new ones that have more wild look. And then there is tattoos that is needed and more jewelry for females. Beards copy paste from Blood elf males basically a trade I guess. More blue and purple skin options like number 2 with little more blue tint.
Then it depends how blizzard want to go with Void elves. Are all Alliance High elves going to join with the Void elves? If so they could give the options for the armor/weapons and mount a Silver covenant look like Xalath have done. And if they did like the blood elf version a robe option (And a hood would be nice). And yes Blizzard then could give them more void theme options but only as long it does not remove them from being an “elf”. But also it “needs” a story that shows that they all have “chosen” to join Alleria and the void elves (Both Silver Covenant and Veeresa and remaining High elves within the Alliance and update them with Void elf customizations) to move forward towards the future and build a new home for them. (Would also be great if the new Sylvanas joins her sisters and togheter they lead the Alliance High/Void elves when she is done with her task.)
Maybe do something similar or Between Azuremyst Isle and Quel’thalas and Telogrus Rift and Eredath combined with Blood/High elf buildings however with a new design. Its not hard for wow team to do that. I mean like those dragon flight buildings on Dragon isles looks similar to Blood/high elf buildings but slightly different. Void area, rocky area, and a forest area with alien animals and their void elf city/outpost area. Im not saying to remove Telogrus Rift, just improve it and add things. I do like the music and the atmosphere, the stars etc etc but its just missing alot of things.
Trolls need beards, more body/face paints that represent their clan. Beefier bodies so they can look like Forest/Ice trolls. Forest troll hairstyles.
The orcs and mag’har orcs could share tattoos and body/face paints and hairstyles since they are same clans. more scars and wounds and ear wounds.
Kultirans could get more well Kultirans customizations and if Vrykuls will never become playable blizzard could give Kultirans Vrykul customizations and body like Rexxar for Kultiran males and for Kultiran female could get Orc female body. Maybe make the hands and feet the same size as Kultiran females. And since Stormwind humans got different face shapes, then the Kultirans should get that too.
Dark iron could get Frostborn Dwarves customizations. Instead of fire they could have Frost fire beards (That way blizzard don’t have to change voice lines). Instead of skulls on their metal ribbons, they could have symbol of frost giant face from Northrend.
Nightborne well few hairstyles and beards and eye brows. More eye colors. Better luminous hands and add Luminous feets.
Just a few ideas but as I said that Blizzard could just add now and then add 3-6 new customizations. Not specified to witch races, For Example like maybe 1 new to Dark Iron Dwarves, 2 new Highmountain Tauren, 2 Kultirans and 1 to Zandalar or something. Just something and eventually all races will have alot of customizations.
Im pretty sure that chart has not been updated for some time. The Nightborne got alot of stuff the last customization batch. And probably has not included the dark ranger customizations for Night elves and Blood elves and now Void elves which seems odd but ok.
Not male ones. But yeah, stop this victim mentality around elves, and us receiving love by the devs right now with the 9.2.5 additions. Most people play elves, because they look the coolest, and that’s why they should improve it
i would like felborne customisations too, like green glowy hands
and if you go in wowhead dressing room and put “NPC options” you can see another skin color, that one would be so cool to add.
Velves got eye colors/skin colors to appear as high elves which is something Blizz was originally opposed to. I don’t think it’s fair to make this about quantity nor do I try to make it about that as I’ve stated within numerous replies. The only thing I think would be reasonable to add to velves are more hair options that don’t have the old god juice vibe.
There are other races that I think are more deserving of meaningful additions at this point. If we are being realistic, we all know that blizz doesn’t really tend to do blanket sollutions for customization. Either you get to be one of the lucky ones (nelf, belf, velf) or you have to wait for full on makeovers with new expansions.
I, for one, welcome our new Draconic overlords
Honestly I have so much fun on the character creation screen and as you can change it all in the barber too it’s easy to go tweak things afterwards too.
I probably spent more time in character creation/barbershop than I did doing their starter area last week.
I really hope some of the things we see on the Dracthyr will be introduced for other races, obviously suitable to those races, not that we want Dracthyr options.
If all you care about is quantity. Sure. Orcs are possibly my favorite race, yet I couldn’t care less about the majority of the customization options we got for Shadowlands.
Nobody, cares about the entire palette of customization.
I’ve asked Nobody
He do cares
wanna throw a reddit pun in while you’re at it?
I care too. There is a great disparity between races and those at the top I spend far more time in character creation than I do with the poor races at the bottom of that chart.
The Demonhunters are elf exclusiv because the people who became demonhunters where trained by illidan in the Black Temple and where in stasis together with him until legion. Thats why there are no other races of Demonhunters.
Not a hivemind but highly indoctrinated by the Naaru and heavily infatuated with the Light. There are the Broken who use dark magic as well as some corrupted Draenei who use Fel…they are called the “Man’ari” and are part of the legion thow there have been outlyers who rejoined their kinn.
These two are the only things i see an issue with but there are a lot of things in your post i realy like and would love to see. Especially the Feral Worgen shape/class. I’d honestly be glad if they just add tails for them (reeee furry blablabla i know) i think they would just look very awsome with them and a main issue i had with worgen since release is that their lack of a tail looked weird to me. Just look at Elder Scrolls werewolfs. They have tails and i certainly don’t think they look like furrys.
Ahh yes. She already accepted her place beneath us! Good good she will make an excellent servant on our way to world domination.
That is only true up until Legion -At which point they began recruiting more to bolster their ranks. Legion is almost 6 years ago, yeah? That’s at least 4 years of no Legion left to hunt for the time being. Great time to actually make up for their losses as of Black temple and throughout Legion, don’t you honestly think so?
Draenei means something to the effect of “exiled ones” referring to their history, not genetics or mutated make-up. Eredar are the draenei that became zealous followers of Archimonde and Kil’jaden. You don’t necessarily become Eredar just because you fiddle around with void or fel magic: The former of which, several Draenei do practise.
These restrictions are as constructive as gameplay restrictions imposed by faction choice. If the lore has remained this way for 20 years, I’d say it’s more of a stagnated creativity issue than actual world-building.
Always the least played races get less customization options. It shouldn’t be like this. I like to play as every race, so I would like to see more face / hair options especially for kul’tirans.
For me, it was a real shame that they never gave us thin kul’tirans for the men since the model was in the game. It used the undead female rig.
OT, but it reminded me of the Emily Dickinson’s poem
I’m Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know!
How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one’s name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!
