Cyrillic (Russian) names and apparent issues related to it

As a simple man from Soviet Union as I am I’d also like to have a possibility to write the names of my characters with latin letters. Just as I can do that in Overwatch for example.

Yet I enjoy staying in ru realm for many reasons, starting from community (which I favor more than EU) to mere voice acting of Russian version of the game. (First time when I heard english voicing of female draenei I was shocked. I sincerely wish eu players could listen to the Russian voices of female draenei.

To sum up, latin names would be nice, changing realms - nahh

hmm not sure, yeah names can be a problem, but that is a minor problem realy, and those saying Russians are almost always bad, well from my experience it doesnt seem to matter what their nationalitly or language, there is always someone who is both bad and toxic, personaly I think this part is more or less equal, think I found more people from EU realms that are toxic than russians now.
also about the premades in pvp, not realy true at all, I am not sure if all computers can read cyrillic, my can, and even if I can not read it, it is quite easy to se that most groups are not premades also, just need to check the 3 first letters from what realm and you se they are not.

I think this problem is more politicial and a stigma from something that has happend before or in other games.

I usually help out the group to translate the cyrilic in to latin since I do speak the language. And they do respond to the latin name, so it does help.

For me that’s simply because I can’t say their name so I don’t have much choice

I have no problem grouping with Russians as long as they can perform. There’s just as many bad players on regular eu realms

That’s fine, I’m toxicity reincarnated

It hasn’t been hard for me to learn English. Learning Russian isn’t that hard too, because half of letters match. Why it’s so hard for you?

You’re right about the letters. But there is big psychology to why this is happening Holibull.

It is considered easy for Russians (and any other European nation) to learn English. But not the other way around I am afraid.

English especially UK/USA native people are generially used to just know one language and aren’t motivated much to learn a second or a third tongue, because English is more or less a global language. There is no need for it! Since you can travel anywhere and Travel Agencies all over the world include English support.

I have found British and American folks having especially great difficulty to learn Russian, when I used to interact with them for that very reason that was my evidence. Since cartoons, games and tv don’t inherently come with the Russian language by default, people in general just dont absorb the information to learn the Cyrillic letters and grammar as quick.

Just learn Cyrillic alphabet. Problem solved. It’s not a Chinese after all.

It’s not Chinese but other people of EU who are not Slavic like me see it as Chinese level of language difficulty.

skratta lär dig bara alfabetet 4huvud det är så lätt.

I deny them because of other past experience, really.

Addon BattleGroundTargets or BattleGroundEnemies, forgot which one it was, gives them pokemon names

I had similar experience with French players and I just pick them out by their realms instead. It’s a couple of big French realms that are important to remember.

This is something that needs to get out of the people’s mind. It’s not true. You could win against Russians, even a premade, but people don’t even try and just give up as soon as they see the Russian names.

IMO the easiest solution would be to just not let the Russians queue against us anymore

Ah beautiful Swedish language :wink:.Also I might have interpreted your sentence wrong how does laughing actually teach you language?.

It is NOT logical, on English realms people keep creating names with weird characters just because the plain one is taken. I can’t type half of people names on my realm.

While on your realm you cannot create English word name. If you have fantasy to use any non Russian name - you can’t.

Imagine if you were foreigner living in Russia and facebook suddenly decided your name “Steven” is invalid because your IP is in Russia.
That is garbage system

But you do have a problem grasping the topic. It is irrelevant if you insist English this and English that, when Russian players play in Russian language realms. They do not need to have names in Latin letters because they play in RUSSIAN realms.

Erm … it is logical because yor keyboard uses latin letters, Russian keyboard doesn’t. I know it is trendy to hate all this Russian here, but your analogy is so off the mark.

You can use any name in russian realm just using letters available in Cyrillic keyboard.

And again Russians do not have a problem with any of this ‘reading other names’ and making ‘names in Cyrillic’ but somehow other people develop such of issues for themselves.
