The absence of dungeon finder provides us with amazing unique social interactions, like “hello dps hunter here” and “thanks for the run ggs”
Yes, it will work only if that dungeon finder brings you to group of 4 NPC which fill the individual roles and clear instance perfectly for you. In every other case it is worthless.
The bulletin board thing would do just fine, to be fair
use this as a dislike button.
Use the bulletin board addon, works great. If you are too lazy to do that, then you have both wrath-soon-to-be-cata or retail to play.
“You think you do, but you don’t” <— was correct, player base has proven it.
Sometimes I wonder with all these suggestions from Classic players if they want to play Retail, or Classic Lite with Retail features.
A lot of people play Classic because they are disappointed with retail lore, new zones and plot. So there are quite a few who would like classic lite with retail features
I wish if we get RDF and LFR the content is piss easy no reason for any of this gate keeping.
No more wasting time LFG
Instead wasting time AFKing alt-tabbed inside your capital city while you wait 30 minutes for matchmaking as a DPS. You can find groups faster than a Dungeon finder tool would.
No. Go back to retail
I play SOD, Wrath and Retail.
Nothing wrong with wanting to do SOD content with some QOL features.
No.
long answer Noooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Dungeon finder was the sole element that ruined the social aspect of world of warcraft though.
You know I tried retail when dragonflight came out. I leveled all the way up to lvl 70. At first I tried questing a bit in the open world. But the open world is completely empty. Most days I would not even see another player outside of the major cities.
Then I started spamming dungeons through the dungeon finder. and nobody even talks in the chat in there. If you die or wipe they just leave and someone new is auto replaced.
I reached lvl 70 and had to start doing arena before I had my first social interaction with another player.
Dungeon finder is trash that belongs in the trash that is retail. Keep that garbage out of SoD.
Dungeon finder might be very convenient for finding groups to just get dungeons over with quickly.
But that’s the problem. It is too convenient.
It will lead to the death of the social aspect of WoW.
And if the only social interaction you have is “thanks for the group” and “gg, bye” then you are part of the problem. Be the change you wanna see. Communicate with your fellow troglodyte. Stop being antisocial.
The only thing I want is an ingame LFG bulletin board that isn’t the addon so you can form groups easily for any kind of content in the game. Whether it is for questing, runes, elite quests, dungeons or even raids.
That’s basically it. I don’t think that dungeon finder did it, it’s the people who choose not to interact. If you don’t, who will?
Game systems dictate player behaviour. Not the other way around.
When you have to form a group and everyone has to walk to the dungeon, you will bond more with your groupmates. you will talk more while waiting for them. etc. and less likely to instantly leave group if you die or even if someones damage isn’t super high.
Dungeon finder creates a lazy playstyle where u just zone out and watch netflix while spammning dungeons and barely even look at the game screen let alone the game chat.
Another side effect is that it drastically lowers the activity in the open world since you can just queue into dungeons from anywhere. Right now, if you want to do a dungeon its a certain commitment, you have to travel there. So you always make a choice between questing in the open world or dungeon farming.
No. Simply no.
That’s something I agree with for the most part! I’m not for dungeon finder myself, but I don’t believe it’s not the people’s fault as well. Why was it normalised to watch something on the other screen while playing? Why was it normalised to treat strangers badly or ignore completely? I think it’s a deeper question. What can be done to make that better?
You could say that if the dungeons got harder in dungeon finder people would communicate or focus more? I mean some would. I’d gladly have a harder experience there if there’s something to change people’s behaviour towards new players or those who don’t know or remember the dungeons. I’ve heard that in cataclysm it was everything but nice. I’d love to see that be different now but how will it go? If the player attitude never changes no system will ever fix it.
I’m all for the lower convenience on the dungeons’ part as that makes the game feel more alive with people travelling all the time and engaging in chat(I want to move over to Argent Dawn on retail for the constant chatter but I’m worried the open world will feel super dead due to the lack of multi server layers.) and classic is classic for a reason. (I don’t care about Wrath personally but i heard they added the dungeon finder, how’d it go?)
