Golemagg is already medium population or lower. Upon being unlocked, there will be a small influx of players who want to join their friends - but it won’t be many people, and it certainly won’t be enough to sustain the server long-term.
Beyond that, how many new players are likely to choose to roll on a server like Golemagg instead of just picking one that people actually play on like Firemaw or Gehennas?
Keep in mind almost everyone who rolled on these locked servers did so SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE of the high population.
Realistically, what are the chances of the lower population locked realms ever recovering from this?
I don’t see it happening. The damage has been done. I think all locked realms other than Firemaw and Gehennas are doomed.

Pretty spot on tbh, it may well be too late, damage has certainly been done.
However, even then we won’t know whether anything will change for the better or not unless they do open up the server… The optimist in me is hoping we get back to some semblance of “normal”

As others have said, there will probably be an influx of players to open the gates, I think this is why realms are still locked.
I do think that Blizzard aren’t looking at realm populations as much as they should.

Yeah, moving would solve the situation on a unilateral level, but will not resolve the issues that most guilds (if not all) are facing on the server. You shouldn’t have to abandon the people you rolled/play with on your current server in order to avoid these locks, in the same breath, we shouldn’t have to ask 30-40 different people to make a financial commitment that can easily be avoided by them doing their jobs and looking into this problem with detail.
The only benefit I’ve seen of these locks since they’ve been implemented is that Golemagg hasn’t really had a bot problem. But if I had to choose between being able to recruit/find new players for my guild, having new players roll and stimulate the server economy, ability to have friends/family roll on the server i’m playing on & having to live with bots, or having no bots, I know which one I’m going to choose

Guilds cant be run on “people who might come back and want to play aq”. Unlock the servers so we can recruit people who “are here now and are committed to AQ”

Server is dying, make an effort please. Bigger servers are unlocked / unlayered. mono-language guilds are dying even faster, we need new players

“server is dying” full of raiding guilds at max lvl with overcrowded orgrimmar when WB are popping up…
on the other hand …yes…would be cool to unlock so we have new low lvls to lvl up with more than paying for boosts

At least before the lock there were always fresh people leveling.
