Dark Iron Dwarf! Fire mage or Elemental shaman?

JUST ABOUT TO UNLOCK DARK IRON! UH OHHH! I’m gonna play on it but I gotta figure out which class to pick, I wanna do a caster and I just don’t know which of these two to do!

If you have never played either one before, perhaps you should try the Class Trial feature, and see which one you enjoy more. That might help you make a decision.

I would pick fire mage because:

  1. Shaman spam more lightning than lava
  2. You have basic Earth Elemental instead of racial lava elemental that looks the same but is recolored. Cmon Blizz :sob:
  3. You would have both portals and digging machine! Travel like royalty compared to the rest of peasants.

lore-wise destro warlock or fire mage if you look for a recommendation

Elemental shaman… Fits them better in my opinion.

Plus, the elemental Shaman casting animations look boss on a Dark Iron.

Ive levelled one shammy and is awesone (and became my main)

I believed this as well until I read into the lore. Ragnaros changed his cult into the DID you know. They lost their natural skin, he gifted them the red eyes and “changed” their attitude to the cunning one you know about them.

Besides that, the dwarf warlocks originate from the DID. They were the first one and taught the Bronzebard-dwarves their way.

Where is this in the lore? Can’t find it.

Also, why does this change anything about them being shamans?
I just view my DID Shaman as a dwarf attuned to the elements, as all Shamans are, but with a special connection to the element of fire.

Maybe so… But I don’t feel their heritage armor, which is completely boss, fits a Warlock.

From a gameplay perspective I find Elemental Shammy funnier to play.

Also the animations on DID are really neat as Shammy.

Shaman all day everyday. Why?

Melee. Ranged. Healer.

Best class in the game.

wowpedia and nobbel

Watched that video and read through the wowpedia article on the DID… Still couldn’t find it :no_mouth:

Edit 1: I found a paragraph on their “underhandedness” from Franclorn Forgewright, maybe being caused by Ragnaros. But not their appearance.

Edit 2: Found another paragraph citing their physical appearance being a gift form Ragnaros, but that from the Warcraft RPG which is non-canon.

I cannot find the info about Ragnaros and the eyes either now - but the video goes a bit into the lore in general. I’ll come back to you when I find it again. According the reference’s source it has been stated that it was in Chronicles 1 - but like I said, I come back to you if I find it again.

Mage if you want look coolish.

Hello,
I just made my DID, called her Flintstone
I had the same dillema as you but I chose to be a shaman. Actually dwarf is the only alliance race I can play as a shaman. In my opinion there is no lore conflict being a shaman and DIDs fit really well into dark shaman theme.

I chose against mage because that does not seem natural to me. DID are really fit to be mages lorewise but I just cannot imagine using arcane magic with them.

My dark iron lady is a shaman. A dwarf from the flames is a perfect fit into shamanism. She is 111 now with due to the event. Perfect time to level alts is now.

I actually don’t see how DID can be a shaman. The spells (enc/elemental) fit more a Tauren or Troll, tbh.

mage … I made mine an arcane mage and it looks hilarious … big burly beardy dwarf casting lollipop and rainbows spells … brilliant

Fire mage and dark iron is a great match.

Although they both make great sense, I mean dark irons do revere the fire elements and in return borrow their power.

But I think a dark iron would more likely harness their power and use it. So in that case fire mage would make more sense.
