Dark Ranger Roleplay

Don’t know why I even bothered.
My advice people, ignore Zaphius, contrarian poster that only desires an argument with his ‘takes’.

And doubly ignore his take that DRs are allowed in the Alliance simply because it’s a customisation Nelf and Velf had.

DRs are still, as of right now and until further notice, Horde aligned.

In the end, it’s not a productive conversation to have. There’s going to be no consensus until someone asks a Blizzard writer and they give an explicit answer to the question.

Also, this isn’t just contrarianism. The Alliance Dark Ranger thread went on for over two thousand posts because there were plenty of people on both sides and the argument only ended because it kept on going in circles and everyone eventually got sick of it.

Because you want everyone else to adhere to your headcanon?

Ironically this bit is entirely custom lore made by you.

In fact, we know it’s false: some dark rangers have already left the Horde as they try to join the Alliance, therefore they are no longer Horde-aligned. The point you raised is the quest itself isn’t clear if they’ve been accepted or not. And that’s what having a playable race is for: further confirmation of that bit.

  • There are no Alliance Dark Ranger NPCs in the game.

  • All current Dark Ranger NPCs are Horde-aligned.

  • Tyrande, as of current lore, has yet to return to Azeroth to give verdict and is unaware.

  • As pointed out previously, Trolls especially have customisation that represents the other troll tribes, most of which are hostile to the Horde, this is not indication these tribes are now Horde.

  • Sira Moonwarden, a Night Elf Dark Warden, is actually imprisoned by the Alliance currently.

Dark Warden* :pensive:

Also she was a loyalist, loyal to the Banshee-Queen even after she betrayed the Horde, and it was actually the Horde that got her, imprisoned her and then handed her over to the Alliance.

Also my comment was abit tongue-in-cheek, especially since members of those tribes are welcome in Zandalar, can be a part of Zandalar’s armies(there was this Sand Troll General, after all), and not be a part of the Horde all the while the Zandalari are a part of the Horde!

Thus in a very convoluted way, we can actually play Trolls off different tribes very loosely associated with the Horde(without being a part of it), I think?

I would never suggest people do that tho, since its no fun for anyone and I doubt Sand Trolls and the like would be welcome in Orgrimmar, anyways (Akin to how Dark Rangers would not be welcome in Stormwind)

There’s no point trying to argue with Zaphius, your points are just headcannon according to him whereas his are actual lore and in no way, shape or form completely incorrect.

There are players though, and those might be more than enough with a quest text supporting their presence there.
Mind, there were/are no death knights NPCs in Stormwind either, doesn’t mean you can’t RP one in Stormwind.

Source?
It looks like characters come and go from the SL. In fact, in that very questchain you contact the big death lady from Maldraxxus to cleanse some plague clouds.

It’s likely because they don’t have a quest text which mentions they are joining the Horde.

Nobody is arguing that all darkfallen will suddenly change colours. “Some DF are enemies to the Alliance!” Yeah, true.

He was an exception, not a rule. One dude ascending through the ranks by being epic (but also being an evil traitor) doesn’t mean everyone else is cool.
Besides, there are still 0 truly friendly sand trolls, the others will still try to take your eyes out on Zanadalar. Same with the Gurubashi who are there.

There is no quest-text supporting a Dark Ranger Presence in any alliance city, and unlike Death Knights, the Dark Rangers dont have several stories showing their integration into Alliance cities and the Alliance military.

You are correct characters can come and go however so far Tyrande has only been in the Shadowlands and hasn’t returned yet even post-trial, there is no indication she returned to the Alliance or Darkshore to give a decree of welcoming and has made her decision yet.

I mean, I know that, but it would kinda mean it is possible for other non-Zandalari to rise through the ranks.

Luckily, I wouldn’t want to have the Sand Trolls anything else. They have been assaulted and wronged so many times by the Horde :pensive:

Well, he only got the job because the king was intrigued. I don’t see that happening again.
Intrigue is not a reason for hiring someone!

Oh… Fair enough, I didn’t know the reasoning. I just thought he had proven himself :man_shrugging:

He had to Zul, who suggested him.
The others voted.
Two for, two against.
The king broke the stalemate due to curiosity of what he could do.

Not really, no. Avaliability to players does not equal lore. See prior discussion on how void elves are not in fact playable high elves.

Darkfallen paladins and druids are now a thing too apparently.

I can excuse the DR customisation on druids if it’s used for a Nightmare druid

Pale skin and red eyes do be a vibe I like with them.

But they’re playable as Darkfallen druids/paladins. Which means they’re a thing in lore.

What I’m saying is customisation for players isn’t a good basis for things without any actual info/context.

Some sentences should remain unspoken, Distantpeak.

I vaguely (mis)remeber Darkfallen paladins being a thing in the ICC Blood Wing aswell? Atleast some abilities and their gear were Paladin iirc🤔

Gomna go check it out, gimme a few

I stand corrected, no Paladin abilities, just their gear
