I disagree with OP.
C’thun realm should come first. Or pretty much most of the Spanish realms that aren’t Sanguino/Shen’dralar/Uldum/Zul’jin or Dun Modr.

IKR? Joining a low/recommended server would kill the game for a totally new player. Dead trade chat, no guilds, no forum activity. All you see 1-120 is pug life. What on earth is going to keep you in the game with that experience?
Unfortunately, if the bounce rate of new subs vs the size of servers they land on is tracked at all, only Blizzard know it. Another of those times when nobody seems to have done the analysis, because either they’d agree with us and take action, or write an article saying they don’t need to do anything because here are the numbers.
Im i the only one that gets annoyed/frustrated to see that for classic, its fine to create Free Transfer Caracters and the lot?
It shows they are trying to balance those servers really hard and i find that great.
So, how come it cant be done for retail?!
Because they believe all issues were fixed when they implemented warmode and sharding.
My servers economy that gets ruined by flocks of druids from other servers harvesting all the Zin’anthid disagrees.
When you have “New Players” beside your server you know its dead like a ghost town peak time Bora 10 players.
7 months since blizzcon must be one long quick chat with the team.
you mean you think that dead servers are not an issue? cause im not saying that Ghostlands/Dragonblight are the ONLY dead servers, i took them as an example because i am on them and was able to get raw numbers easier. there are probably 200+ servers (80%~) that have a major issue with either completely dead server, or a completely dead faction.
perfect. and true. they would either rub the numbers in our face if it proved their point, or do nothing if it proves our point… . . . . . . . . .
my face is still as beautiful as ever. . . . . . . . .
Ion was a lawyer. im sure he can filibuster and talk rubbish for 7 months without getting to the point
A friend of mine just transferred to my realm to join a specific guild. They were amazed at the fact that there’s no boost spam in trade chat. They saw 1 boost advert all day. It’s seriously the only good thing about being on a low-pop realm!
The guild finder has been a god-send for helping people to find guilds. After struggling to get new members (because, as you say, no one uses the realm forum), we’ve now managed to increase our raid team size so that we don’t need to cancel every week due to not having even 10 people to raid.
But sharding, WM and the guild finder don’t solve everything. The AH is extremely expensive compared to other realms. Sharding means that we’re just as much affected by issues such as multi-boxers tagging all herb nodes, except that they aren’t putting those herbs on our AHs so the prices stay high. Buying mats is prohibitively expensive for levelling professions. You’re forced to be self-sufficient or to rely on your guild. I’m currently levelling alchemy because flasks are often 1000g each and I’ve barely used a battle potion all expansion as I can’t justify the cost.
We were promised an update at Blizzcon. I know that they’re kinda busy with Shadowlands and everything, but for many on low-pop realms this news (or lack thereof) will determine if they even buy and play Shadowlands at all.
This is something not to be underestimated, tbh.
Having joined an x-realm casual raiding community in 8.1, I thought for a while I could get away with splitting my team, but stuck on GL-DB, with flasks at 2-3000g each… They were of course alts. I didn’t play them regularly, and I couldn’t afford to bring them to raids unless I switched them to be alch/herb. And then I’d have two characters doing the same job, which felt silly.
It’s not like there’s no options for Blizz here. There are things like:
Which would effectively put everyone in the same server. There’s up sides, and down sides, but I can’t understand why we don’t get at least some sort of discussion on the matter. Why don’t we get developer updates and articles saying that these are the numbers, and here’s the thinking?
Wow, that is crazy expensive! I don’t think people on realms where flasks cost as little as 200g realise how much of an effort it can be to come ‘prepared’ with food, flasks and potions.
So much this. I think we’d all feel better to know that this problem hasn’t been forgotten and is at least being thought about.
Hey all, what’s the current situation here with this nowadays?
I’m a relic of Dragonblight and this explains why I enjoyed it so much back in WOTLK and struggle to have fun today. Nowadays, I just really want to find a guild and do some content other than solo, as I’ve never even been in a guild properly.
I support this 100% and if anyone wants a crap player with 12 lvl100+ alts for their guild, please let me know!
That’s what life is on Draenor. Faction imbalance. Dead. Crz is a solution
self promo, but you could give Clockwork Orange a try? they have some really nice and excellent people, have existed since the start of TBC, and are probably your best chance to try out raiding, as only 3 guilds (including mine) cleared 8.3 heroic. i dont know much about Vintage, except i know their GM and they are a very nice person, and i don’t know anything at all about Almost Useful.
those are your only 3 choices for heroic raiding, and a chance to dip your toe into the start of mythic on Ghostlands/Dragonblight.
TBH, those are maybe your only choice for ANY raiding, as Frogs of Doom have left the server this tier, and The Dark Rebellion have never raided too deep that i can see on wowprogress. maybe they are only this high in 8.3 because there are only 6 horde guilds total, and even alliance is only 28 guilds who’ve gone into Ny’alotha.
unless a new guild forms of course.
It pains me that it is so easy to list the heroic raiding guilds on a realm…
There really should be dozens, if not hundreds.
yup, i can even do it on just one hand
But your server isn’t dead like the ones we are talking about please don’t bring faction bias into this thread .
7 months yes read again 7 months passed since blizzcon and no news from Ion he should be ashamed.
Blizzard, please support those poor people and do more connected servers. Thx!
You can always try to contact him via his twitter
