Thank you for bringing us fresh realms! It’s been a long wait since TBC dropped in 2021 and finally we can go home!
But PLEASE, I beg of you, relax with pushing any changes. The servers aren’t even up yet and A LOT of people are already considering not playing at all, me included.
All I want (and many others) is a fresh start to the game I love and can play on repeat for years. Vanilla is honestly such a unique game, please keep it that way.
The decision to ban GDKPs doesn’t make sense to me either. It’s really healthy for the server to allow all and any loot systems, let your players chose how to play!
Gold buying is rampant in SoD, so I’m not buying that argument against GDKP.
Far too much work involved and would split the fresh community. Not gonna happen.
Also, the devs stated in their blue post they were looking for feedback, which theyve received. They wouldn’t have made changes if there wasnt a loud enough voice asking for them.
Mate, saying “a lot of people” when you are a minority is kinda silly. This version of Classic will be the best for sure, so you had better start thinking what race and class you play and enjoy the game.
Classic Era is still here and will be.
Also, quality of life should be seen as a positive news, not opposite.
I know it is not a QoL, but if devs would finish all the zones and release them as it was intended in 2004, I bet that some purists would scream because it is not anymore “Vanilla”. Yeah, it is 2024, people are different and nostalgia is starting to wear off slowly, so changes are welcomed as Era is still here. Maybe they could create a new server for you too for a ‘fresh’, but stop blinding yourself and enjoy the game from 21 Nov onwards.
This really isn’t a nice thing to say, you think that any opinion other than the majority opinion shouldn’t matter at all? People are allowed to voice whatever preference they want, putting them down because they aren’t in the now-catered-to majority and you (presumably) are just breeds dislike on a forum like this.
A lot of people is not neceesarily a majority, just a lot. Why should large minorities just be run over?
This would be a true QoL: Changing the way the game plays on the other hand is not a Quality, but the opposite.
Actually what I already suggested, make a parallel set of Anniversary servers, but built on 1,12 instead of 1.15. But Blizz would not dare do this, fearing it would be too popular
One of the rules of democracy is that the majority get to decide, one other, just as important, is to cater to the larger minorities as long as it’s possible and not against the law.
It would be both possible and not against the law to open 1.12 fresh as well - Just announce them, and launch later would satisfy a heap of us.
And if you start talking economics, then split the sub. Let’s pay for the versions we play.
sorry, I started to laugh when you said “large minorities”. Minority does not imply the word “large”.
Anyway, let’s get past this thing. Blizzard should offer a fresh server with no changes as you said and rest of us should go on this new Classic Classic servers and everyone should be happy. What is not happening? Not enough complaints about this issue as people did with dual spec and buff/debuff. The posts on forum and other platforms are screaming “leave classic alone” not “please also give us a fresh classic era server”. Instead, you states very well by saying 1,12 and 1.15, two separate games, not many comments like yours, so cheers!
There is 100% a issue with how people communicate and I believe devs would do what you say with 1.12 fresh, it is just that players need to be more vocal, to spam the forums and other platforms like we did with dual, buffs/debuffs and instant mail.

edit: I understand what you mean with large minority, but the forums do not show that out of 100 people sample, 51 want the changes and 49 don’t, on contrary people are very well pleased with the changes.
Kudos for posting a constructive post! I’m opposed to changes and probs not gonna play fresh, but posts like yours makes this community worth sticking with.
I also hope for a fresh based on 1.12, but it will probably not happen. Those who want to play “as classic as possible” are staying on era and not voicing their opinion here it seems. But after all, back in July we the era community managed to reverse the MoS stuff that was forced upon us, so who knows. Maybe, mabye.
Yes, and maybe 51 % asked for those changes, but 49 % asked for RP-PVP, TBC HC and TBC Era servers. THOSE are the large minorites I’d like some consideration for. Not the maybe 20% wanting a 1.12 fresh - this would be nice of course …
By the way, petitioners will make up over 100 % as you can ask for more than one change / set of changes
