Dear game masters, with all due respect - Shame on you

I do not write forum posts nor do I have habit of using the forum to be honest.
However,
I feel as iv been wronged and I am using this as a last resort. If nothing by some miracle maybe something will be done about it.

To introduce my self,
I played this game since 2005. From classic all the way up to legion. In Mop I had 99.95% achievements done. - To say i’ve been playing this game a lot would be an understatement. My point is, I am no random nor someone who joined yesterday.

What happened?
Started Classic era as Priest. Played a lot. Wonderful. I decide to start working on BIS shadow gear. A hard challenge but a doable one as no sane raid leader will allow shadow priest in raid. No rush. I am no swiper, I do not buy gold. Ill do it the old fashioned way. Pose as holy to need shadow gear. Grind dkp. Eventually got naxx gear.
But, one item remains. One very very hard to obtain.

  • Fel Infused Leggings - They have a low chance of dropping from a world boss Lord Kazzak.

Now for those who do not understand how difficult it is let me try to give you the picture:

  • Wolrd bosses can not be farmed nor prepared for as their spawn timer is extremely random.
  • World bosses are under monopoly of a small group of horde and alliance guilds who have spy characters that camp 0/24
  • World bosses often spawn in most inconvenient hours like 4 or 8 in the morning.
  • To catch a world boss spawn by some miracle means nothing as you need at least 30min to form party for it AND by that time, farming guilds will kill it.
  • Even if you by some miracle do all the correct things and u form a party and pull the boss you have a good chance to be attacked by the horde in that very moment and lose the kill (this happens to me more than once)
  • Even if you by some miracle do all the correct things → your item have a low chance of dropping.

NOW → I do not have problem with all these things. It makes the game hard, painful and fun. It is a sandbox, it is the way the world / game works. I am not complaining about it - My point is to just paint the picture of how hard it actually is.

Again, so What happened?

Well I did all those things. For 3 months. Every day as I work, on the other screen I camped Kazzak. I caught his spawn! Over 7 times. Failed at killing him few times as others did it just before I formed the party. Few times Horde got to him first.
BUT once, I actually managed to do it. 8 in the morning. We caught him! And the legs dropped!!! And no one was needing one them!!! Finally my hard work will pay off!!!
Nope!
Raid leader (as I don’t blame him) Auto-looted all the items with the intention of distributing the loot. It is the way people do the raid loot since 2019. As frustrated I am, I do understand his line of thinking.
And so, the items are soulbound and can not be traded.
Frustration.

  • Ok, no biggie. Thankfully a game master can sort this thing out lets open a ticket. Trough my 15 years of playing this game, iv seen game masters restore items that were even disenchanted. Calm down.
    I open a ticket, Raid leader opens a ticket. We explain the mistake. We wait.
    The answer:

bla bla → Auto-bot corporate talk preset-> bla bla

  • Sorry the item is soulbound, we can’t do anything about it.
    No, no, no. Wait, wait a minute! Yes, yes you can do something about it! I know you can, iv witnessed more than once that you can do something about it. You can take the item and mail it to me.
    → Nope, here is a forum link make a suggestion how to make the game better.

And so, here I am. Angry, frustrated and disappointed. Creating a forum post like a classic cliché.

It is not the item nor the way how item is obtained that got me but the absolute amount of 0 f*** given by the “game master” at the end of it. As someone who gave an absurd amount of money and time trough subscriptions, expansions to be treated with auto-bot answer like that it just… It just sucks, it feels like a slap.
And I know that people will be like - well you know GM’s they are outsourced and they have ticket resolved count per day and can’t access the inventory and so on and so on.
I don’t think that was the case. In worst case scenario the GM could involve some1 who can resolve the situation. There was a time where GM would wisp you in game, help you out, ask if there is something else he can do for you and part with a GM joke.
Now a soulless - Go * your self corporate auto answer, F* your hard work. Ticket checked, resolved, lets do the next one. Daily ticket quota fulfilled.

Those sure were the days.

Sadly, they got rid of a ton of their costumers support staff, I do not recall which year it was, but they got rid of several hundred staff(during record profit year btw) focused on customer service in favor of automated support systems - which would be just as good if not better, we now know that the automated bot responses are pretty much useless, but they are cheap so…

The only thing they care about is profit, they grew too big until they started looking down on those that brought them there.
Worst part is, no one responsible is ever likely to suffer for it, they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Yes, I am bitter about how one of my favorite game companies ended up.

That’s tough man, kinda strange the loot from world bosses are not tradable like raid loot is. It should be

Man that’s some nostalgia… I miss the days we had GM’s in the game teleport to your location floating in the air like some sort of super heroes with that dark shadowform like aura… Anyone remember GM island? Went there on my resto druid and a GM congratulated me on the trip before kicking me all the way back to Westfall Graveyard lol.

Anyway, sorry to hear that OP. This would definitely be easily resolved by in-game GM’s. They used to do it so often in the past. I’ve even used their services for that 2 or 3 times. Sadly everything is become automated corporate and soulless all in the name of profit. It’s disgusting. Hope your next Kazzak spawn drops them and you get them.

I love when people refer to World of Warcraft as a “sandbox”. It is far from a sandbox, infact its popularity rose because its not a sandbox.
