Death of Matthias Shaw and Flynn Fairwind

Imagine there is people like the OP that cared about crap lore even from the books

If i can admit and accept that there is nothing wrong with Shaw and Flynn being bi and being in a relationship, because bi people exist, then you too can also admit that, if not forced, at the very least Blizzard chose a very poor way to present them as a couple, since in-game they are interested in other people.

This whole ā€œand suddenly they like each other outside the gameā€ reeks of publicity stunt, and you should be able to see why we feel this way.

Now do not get me wrong, i do not want it changed and i hope that they are soon presented as such in-game as well as bi people are often forgotten and not spoken about.

But i hope you can agree with me that the next time they introduce a relationship, of any kind, and especially if ingame the NPC are interested in different people, it should be done in-game and not on extra materials.

And you just know me so well to make that statement.

Actually no i will accept them for what they are, I liked BP however i do agree its overhyped and does not deserve the aclaim people are giving it, Captain Marvel however was just bad, the actress was wooden and without charm, the script was generic and it tried to shoehorn her so much in the MCU that they retconed several things in order to do it.

Is that so ?

Iron man - 585.3 million
Iron Man 2- 623.9 million
Iron man 3- 1.215 billion
Captain America- 370.6 million
Winter Soldier- 714.4 million
Civil war-1.153 billion
Thor- 449.3 million
Thor The Dark World- 644.8 million
Thor Ragnarok-854 million

Sure these are the 3 big stars of the MCU lets see someone less popular shall we?

Ant man-519.3 million
Ant man and the wasp-622.7 million

Huh, weird these numbers tend to go up than down.

Clinton won the popular vote, she was robbed by the Electoral College, last time outā€¦ no point in doing the same thing twice, against the same opponent and expecting different results.
So, an old, white, heterosexual dude who wouldnā€™t scare any of the GOP, who wanted to jump off the Twitler-ship in the polling booth, was the smart moveā€¦ and it worked.
shrugs

No, they donā€™tā€¦ if you want to wear a pink tutu and gold lame cowboy boots in public, youā€™re going to have to man-up and stride out of the closetā€¦instead of blaming the LGBT community.

I meant why Camala Harris wasnā€™t the candidate, not why Hillary wasnā€™t candidate for the second time, that would be Team Rocket cosplay for Hillary.

By the way, you are proven wrong once again in your claim by Amonet, see, you just randomly speak without thinking :smirk:

I once sawā€¦and this is no word of a lie, at Leamington Spa train station, at about 6.p.m, Egressing from a train, a man of certain years (I only have so long I can still comfortably use that term) with a black bowler hat crammed on his head, carrying a rolled up black Umbrella, and a black briefcase as if it were a battering ram. His shoes were a rather tasteful pair of oxblood brogues, and he was clearly a chap of some bon vivant nature in his past, being somewhat jowly and bloodshot, like a bulldog given human form. He was clad in a Pink Ballerinaā€™s Tutu.

I kid you not.

And the only thing that made it better, was that he looked -FURIOUS- about this fact, and strode down the station platform as if on his way to write a stiffly worded letter of complaint to The Times and other such organs of repute as to how this could happen in a modern society. Honestly, I wanted to ask him how such a situation had come about, but he looked like he would punch me if I had

I have a weird life at timesā€¦

Black Panther was excellentā€¦ Captain Marvel was fine, the character is completely OP and therefore suffers from all the same problems as Superman, and frankly Iā€™m not a fan of Jude Law (apart from the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes films).

Much like the majority of the public, I have no reverence for comic lore, since I havenā€™t read any of them, with the exception of some Spiderman stuff back in the 70sā€¦ and one edition of The Mighty Thor, when he was a disabled bloke with Mjolnir as a transformative walking stick, if I remember correctly.

The local newsagents rarely managed to get Marvel or DC editions for an entire story arcā€¦ instead random editions would appear on the shelves for different characters, I suspect based entirely on the cover art looking saleableā€¦ which was extremely annoyingā€¦ so I switched to 2000AD.

Even Marvelā€™s unique gravy train will hit peak Superhero interestā€¦then, the public are going to get boredā€¦not least when they wake up to the fact itā€™s mostly just blokes in spandex punching each other, with cool SFX.

Now, list most other franchise sequels.

Good choice. Favourite 2000AD character or series? If your answer isnā€™t ā€œThe Ballad of Halo Jonesā€ then you are wrong, but I will accept a second answer.

Certainly Halo Jones would be in my top 10ā€¦ Nemesis the Warlock, Slaine, Strontium Dog and Judge Dredd are probably ahead, if Iā€™m honestā€¦Cassandra Anderson, Tyranny Rex and Durham Red were other favourite female characters.

Good shouts. Nemesis the Warlock was just bleak as hell, there was nothing good in that world, even the Good Guy, Durham Red was good, but Slaine always has a special place for me. Because the Faction Iā€™ve been in for 30 years now at LARP is heavily Celtic based, the plot team have taken a lot of themes and ideas from Slaine, Sometimes we actually joke to new players ā€œYou want to know the Faction history? Here, weā€™ll lend you the graphic novelsā€¦ā€

It was fine, but not excelent, suffered way oo much of the MCU formula and the CGI was clumsy.

Seriously ? You liked Woodstump Larson ? The only good thing in that movie was Sam L. Jackson, and to a small part the skrulls but they ruined them aswell by making them the misunderstood goodguys. Also the point of her character arc was resolved by ā€œJust turn off that power dampener that you know is dampening your powersā€ and ā€œI am girl I am A-mazingā€. Carol Danvers actually had an interesting story back when she was Ms Marvel, she suffered from the comic book equivalent of split personality disorder thanks to the blood transfusion she got from Marā€™Vel (the real captain Marvel, who was also retconed to be a woman in the film) and was normal during the day but once she fell asleep her MS Marvel persona kicked in and fought crime. I know it sound way too comic booky and cliche but imo it would have made a more interesting film seeing her deal with that. The only thing she struggles in the film we got was that she didnt remember who she was, but she didnt care much to begin with (or atleast the actress portrayed it that way).

You remember correcly, the person you are reffering to is called Donald Blake, however he wasnt really Thor, he was a vessel for Thor, think of it like Bruce Banner and Hulk. Also i hear they are bringing him and that dinamyc back, feel free to check it out, the current run is a decent jumping on point and the writher (Donny Cates) is decent, he cant pull of crossover events but when focused on a singular character he is the best Marvel has to ofer right now.

Now who is moving the goal post ? We are yet to see if the superhero fatique is proven right, however we are also seeing a decline in quality from Marvel so that aswell will be hard to prove. DC on the otherhand are starting to regain good faith with the release of the Snyder Cut.

Itā€™s entirely possible that may have been why I liked Nemesis so much, I also liked the way it was used to reboot the ABC Warriors, in a later story arcā€¦Deadlock was another favourite character.
Agree on Slaine, they managed to weave a lot of historical research into that series.

Depends on the scriptā€¦ it was a Superman story, so the entire film has to stymy her discovering her powers for as long as possible, hence the memory loss (although a split personality could have been interesting alternative)ā€¦because after that its game over for her opponentsā€¦and renders her MCU buddies surplus to requirements as wellā€¦just like Superman in the DC universe. I also expected them to follow through on the LGBT undertone, but they bottled out of confirming on screen, what was a strongly telegraphed gay relationship.

I hope itā€™s goodā€¦ because I liked Batman v Supermanā€¦but it may be getting overhyped due to unrealistic expectations, we will have to wait and see.

True.

The script had enough material for her to work with, in fact just reading her lines on papper provoked more emotion than the actress portrayed. She just looked like she didnt want to be there.

Huh ? Do you mean her and Monica Rambeau ? You do know they are straight right ? Why do you people only see sexual relashionships instead of ā€œwe are just friendsā€ ?

I dont think it would be good, but its refreshing to see Warner and DC listening to what the fans want and it will get my money just for that and out of curiocity, also they done did Snyder dirty when he was at his lowest so the man does deserve to see his vision come to light atleast.

We will have to agree to disagree, I felt a lot of the dialogue was very average, although not as bad as some of the first Thor filmā€¦or Lucas deciding to use the term ā€˜younglingsā€™ which still makes me cringe to this day, you would have thought with how much he mucked about with the Special Editions, that could have been ā€˜fixedā€™ā€¦#Hanshotfirst.

That was not the way it came across in the film, I didnā€™t mind whether they were straight or gayā€¦but, it deffo came across that there was more going on, than ā€˜just matesā€™.

If itā€™s no good, then I have no intention of paying to see it.

Fact is, Snyder fans are only getting their wish, because HBO needs ā€˜freshā€™ contentā€¦ anyone who imagines that in a non-Covid world, the Snyder Cut would have been green-lit is deluded. Corporations do not spend $70million, just because Snyder fans had a hissy fit, though Iā€™m sure Snyder fans want to believe they do.

Snyder was sacked because he couldnā€™t make the deadlinesā€¦ while extremely sad, itā€™s a cold hard fact that large corporations do not normally re-calendar their operations, just because an employee lost a close relative unexpectedly.

We are no disagreening here, the dialogue was bad, however she could have shown some emotion behind it. I said it had enough for it to make an actor act not that it was Shakespear.

Me and my friends who happen to be girls act simmilarly to that from time to time and we are not gay. Face it you are just looking for LGBT where its not.

No argument there but alls fair in love and war as they say.

It has nothing to do with Covid, the backlash to JoL was Huge and Warner/DC were about to lose Cavil and Aflec so the Snyder cut was a smart move on their part to atempt to fix both problems.

Alsoā€¦

Why are you so adversarial towards everyone, first the male gamers and now the Snyder fans ?

So whatā€¦actors are entirely replaceableā€¦ and if the Snyder cut is rubbish, then the film has been a money pit twice.
The logical reaction to that, is to put Superman and possibly Batman as well (if the Pattinson film doesnā€™t make bank) on iceā€¦ and focus on Wonder Woman and Aquaman instead.

Stop talkig out off your a^^, in a franchise especially in the one DC are trying to create/salvage they are not. Not only are we talking about the two most crucial parts in universe which are Superman and Batman, but we are also talking about big legue hiters like Cavil and Aflec. I see now why you are defending the WoW retcons, you clearly have no sence or do not care for continuity.

Superman and Batman are the corner stones of the DC universe much like Thor, Iron man and Captain America are to the MCU, however Marvel does have the privaledge of having more than 3 superstars in its roster, wheras DC only has its Big 3 (Batman,Superman and WW). The MCU can afford to move away from its main 3 now that they are 20+ films in, DC cannot as they only have 2-3 aclaimed films under their belt. The Pattison film is an off world story that will not be part of the DCEU so they can no more focus on it than Joker, and even those films do get sequals it does not further Warners goals which are to have a DCEU.

Like a reverse Midas.

Itā€™s robust language, if you donā€™t approve of political correctness, you should be delighted that I am not pussyfooting around pandering to a particular demographicā€¦ if I do/donā€™t agree with something, I say so.

Cavill and Affleck are toastā€¦ a Superman trilogy is quite enough for the limited range the character permits without constantly resorting to deus ex machinas to gimp his powersā€¦ and Afleck has had a trilogy of Batman appearancesā€¦neither of them are RDJ and even he is replaceableā€¦which is why Pattinson is now behind the cowl.

Superman spent 1987 to 2013 off the big screen, precisely because he is so OP.

Salvaging a franchise does not require continuity of actorsā€¦ as Joker (an excellent film) graphically demonstrated, itā€™s often a much better idea to entirely ditch everything and either start again, with a new faceā€¦or go off-world.

Expanding the Universe is going to be risky for both Marvel and even more so for DCā€¦ fact is many of the characters that Comic fans want to see on screen do not have the mass appeal or enough real difference, from well known cornerstone characters, to be worth much screen timeā€¦something the general public will notice very quickly.
Superhero movies are so expensive to make it would not take too many financial disapointments for Studios to dial back on projects.
Letā€™s face it, Superhero Series are not guaranteed long runs on the Streaming services, where they should actually be more secure.

Marvel have had an incredibly long run of success because they built a universe slowly with an incredible team of very talented peopleā€¦ but there are only so many stories to be told, that look genuinely different and engaging, especially when they are being delivered on a conveyor belt.
