I also picked the defend Saurfang by mistake, I only realised when it came to actually defending him. I just abandoned the quest so didn’t get either reward but was worth it. lol

I’m not sure if that method will work, but it wouldn’t harm to try.
That quest is just a disastrous design. They screwed up big time by not presenting both choices in the same way, especially since its a quest where there is no turning back once you pick it up. Both decisions should’ve been on the same window, neither should’ve had “!” exclamation mark icon that’s used for pretty much every quest in the game (and both should’ve “speech bubble” icon instead), and both of them should have the warning about how the player cannot progress through the other questline.
There is still a chance of devs fixing it until the next part of the questline is released, so I hope it’ll be fixed as soon as possible.

The Adventurers stay above the Faction leaders when it comes to azeroths concern. Them serving alliance or horde is nothing more but a gameplay reason. Depending on your class you hold more or at least as much political power.
Please, if anyone from the cause has a twitter account, make a tweet tagging the devs reporting the hottest threads about the situation.
