Please no, just no, find a different server and find one suited for raiding.

Um, sorry? Is my guild a problem to you somehow?

I reckon its a problem that your guild isen’t a guild intended for RP at first glance, Argent Dawn being a RP realm.

Oh. I didn’t know that was a problem. After all, there are plenty of guilds not intended for RP. In fact, I’d say the minority of them are purely just RP guilds.

Yes, and it is a problem.

Again with the idea that you can’t do any other content if you’re a roleplayer?

Why couldn’t people RP even if they were in a non-RP Guild? Have seen plenty of that.

Geez… This is a bit surprising. And imagine I’ve been all these years on an RP server not doing any serious RP and now you tell me everyone should abandon their social community guilds, raiding and PvP for RP?

You should give RPing a try. It’s fun!

I’ve seen plenty of it myself too, but the issue here is that it seems there’s going to be no effort put towards RP when it comes to the guild.
It’s already a good start if there are people within the guild who participate in roleplay, so why not go a little further? Have a dedicated group of people within the guild who host roleplay for people that are interested? The same way you would have dedicated raid leaders…

I don’t know what your idea of “serious RP” is but even casual - maybe you happen to roleplay once a month - is enough. No one expects someone to RP 24/7 because that’s just ridiculous.
Abandoning your already existing communities is not necessary, as long as you understand that this is a roleplay realm first and foremost - not PvP or PvE, but RP and it’s what your main interest should be when you decide to make a character on this realm. Being a roleplayer doesn’t stop you from getting Curve or grinding ranks in arena (I don’t personally PvP, so I don’t know what it is you do.)

I know what RP is, I have done it and I know it’s fun. It’s just that at my age I don’t have the time or the energy play this game so seriously anymore, so I thought I might as well make a guild to meet with other Finnish players and make friends.

But oh well. Maybe you are right. Maybe this is a stupid idea.

It’s less about you as a person and more what the server is intended for. The suggestion to include a RPing subgroup in the guild to expand it and conform to the server function was a good one.

Especially now at launch it’s actually pretty disheartening to see 90% of players with joke player names & guild names who obviously don’t RP, yet are somehow hanging on Argent Dawn. You’ll find that other raiding guilds, which explicitly mention they also have RP as another activity within the guild, get a pretty warm welcome on the forums. The fact is your mere presence contributes to the decline of the last “living” RP realm on EU. There’s really no reason for people who have no interest in it, to not just go on one of the countless non-RP realms.

I find it a little bit odd how so many times, people prefer to just delete/disband the thread and guild idea rather than just include some RP in the guild.

Like, why?

An overwhelming sense of unwelcomeness and refusal to cave to the requests that they make a token effort to use the server for its intended purpose.

I really don’t get the mental process though. You see Argent Dawn. Then in green uppercase text is “RP”. Yet you want PVE, but you pick RP.
Hello???

I agree with what you’re going for. It is an RP realm first and foremost.

But some people don’t care about that and rather care about the aspects of the game side of WoW and just go for PVE / PVP type content. Still dumb to go for a RP realm.

I know it’s not fair to blame the existence of these sorts of guilds on one person.

But frankly I blame Asmongold for deciding to come over to EU and treat Argent Dawn like his own little stage to perform on.

I have nothing against that. I decided to abandon this idea because after this backlash I started to rethink my approach to this game, and be me being as casual as I am, I thought that making my own guild (of any kind) was a bit against that.

I’m unwelcoming and being refusal? Huh. I could take that as an insult. I know it’s an RP server, I do occasionally RP and I picked it over normal server for many reasons, but I find it very unsettling that you people are now here condemning me as some sort of anti-RP’er. I simply thought I would make a casual guild for casual Finnish players. Never thought I would get this kind of treatment from this server, which I have thought to be more of the kinder ones with a bit more mature people (talk about unwelcoming… :upside_down_face:).

Anyway, the guild doesn’t exist anymore. I am not making any kind of guild and I’m out of that game. Can we just, please, drop this? And I guess I have to emphasize that I certainly have nothing against RP—in fact quite the contrary—but you have probably already made your minds, so just forget about it.

No, I’m saying people who shut their threads down after suffering the usual critique do so out of a feeling of not being welcome. It’s a bit of an overreaction. People can do their pve’s and pvp’s but in the context of knowing, accepting and to at least some extent participating in what is intended to be a RP server.

We’re protective of our server because it’s functionally the one last roleplaying server in the game after every other was overwhelmed by the pve and pvp people who had no interest in participation, viewing roleplayers as quaint entertainment to watch at best or nerds to be bullied at worst. We don’t want that on AD. Many of us migrated here to get away from that and keep a community. That’s all it is.

If you join a pve server you’d be expected to pve. On a RP server you’re quite reasonably expected to RP.

First and foremost this is an rp server of course. While the guild idea itself isn’t nowhere bad, guilds here are usually formed for roleplay / casual, but usually by people who do roleplay. Their point so far is, that while we have raiding guilds. They do not advertise on forums, but in the game instead.
