For me delves are not what I was hoping them to be. I would have expected them to be larger and have more freedom to explore around.
I would rank delves below torghast and visions at the moment.
Having to pick up an item ever 1 min or so does not make it harder or require any skill, it is just annoying. And making 5+ versions of the same mechanic is just lazy game design.
I also wonder how long the people that do like it actually keep doing this, because to me it looks like something that get really boring really fast.
They feel a bit unrewarding? Did a bountiful and had a key, got some gold, a few stones… the usual, plus an item to go unlock some memory thingie that had me rack up kills on a counter… got more of the same + key fragments. Think I also got a useless green cloak somewhere on the way too, am I missing something? Doing it wrong?
What are the crazy fun factors of boreghast ? That was probably the worst most boring feature they ever added to wow.
And btw it was originally advertised as a timed group content in an endless tower. Turned out as nothing of the sort.
The highest vault they provide is 616 heroic gear which goes up to 619 with Harbinger crests (same as adventure gear which drops from delves with keys) and the hero gear can be upgraded to 626 with Gilded crests if you can somehow farm them.
And before you say “but that’s too slow”. This is literally what solo/casuals asked for after content like zaralek cavern: something they can farm for months for a constant sense of character progression all the way to near-bis ilvl.
The powers that allowed you to create builds, the freedom to approach it as you wanted. There were people who literally fully cleared every corner of it and there were people who speed ran to the last boss, killing only what was necessary, the lack of strict objectives allowed that. Every run had something different, and after the overhaul (which many people are completely ignoring and thinking about the very first version, which was mandatory) it was much better.
The gauntlet was a massive challenge and complete chaos gameplay wise, it asks you to play the game and your class, and to think fast, entirely optional too. Delves by comparison are on-rails, there are actually some powers but they are few and far between, they play no real role. You’re basically just running around completing mandatory objectives (many of which are annoying chores) while Brann spends half the time being nothing but a burden.
Delves lack the need to play the game that Torghast had, effectively you just walk around and go through the motions, if you do get challenged it will be a gear check and nothing more.
The first alpha/beta versions were never that so I’m not sure where you got that idea, but they were better than what launched. But the overhaul they did was great. And I can appreciate that some people didn’t like it, but I also remember for a fact that a lot of people did it once or twice, got killed, complained about it being too hard, or just weren’t interested to begin with and didn’t like being forced to do it for Legendaries.
A huge factor during Shadowlands was that Torghast was too hard for many, most complaints were direct frustration from failing it and feeling like they had their time wasted. Hard mandatory content is never popular.
You might be right, I’m not arguing, I just don’t remember it. For me what Palistar said above is a good summary, basically torghast without the fun builds/randomness.
I would say they delivered what was advertised. What I saw at the start was casual content to give loot to people who dont like playing the other stuff.
Dull and boring like worse mop scenarios.
I am not sure if they make it more challenging or with a timer would be better also not sure so will wait till they get higher difficulty and give a final verdict.
For know they are just aimed for solo players and most of us who are negative against it are not.
P.S. Loved visions in Bfa and Islands, thorghast wasn’t for me so I am not sure if I can rate all of the bonus stuff in the later expansions.

9… Warfronts
Couldn’t let warfronts to be only one place behind delves since it was the worst.
Delves are indeed not like they were advertised cough false advertising by Blizzard cough.
Anyway, being more serious, I think Delves will not be a thing many will do for fun, as they’re extremely boring and lack any real effort of creative design to them.
Once people get all the customizations that Delves can offer, they will stop running them to only do them once per week to get their great vault items, and then they will sit there to collect dust until the next reset.
I like the idea of Delves, but not their implementation. There are too many tedious and annoying elements in them.
Examples are the candle light circles that shrink as you move and the entire underwater mechanics. Everything “underwater” they ever did before was also unpopular, so no idea why they keep doubling down on mechanics players don’t like.
The solo experience also differs vastly from class to class. Doing them as a healer is downright frustrating, doing them as a squishier ranged class that has to hard cast they are not very much fun due to some HP sponges that also hit like a truck (where is there no tank option for Brann?), doing them as a tank takes forever (but is less annoying).
Doing them on a melee with decent self healing, like my Frost DK, was a much better experience.
I think for me they’ll be group content and I’ll do them with the same people I do M+ with.
