Delves future

What do you guys think? Will they be in future expansions or burried to the ground like other expansion “features”?
I personally enjoyed scenarios more than delves, but im a minority in that opinon i guess.

I think they are here to stay.

Blizz said they arent your typical expansion feature but an evergreen feature

It depends what people do with Delves… and how many people play it 3 months from now. And simultaneously it depends on dungeon and raid tuning as well…

I am certain they are here to stay considering how popular they are and how many that play them.

Might be tuned or changed in the future but definetely here to stay.

They’re not made to be an expansion feature. I think they’ll be here, but they might go through some evolution. Right now I think we’re seeing the most basic version of what delves can be.

To be fair that’s not for blizzard to decide. Seasonal content turns into evergreen systems because people enjoy it. Like MoP challenge modes turning into M+.

I think Delves will be a permanent fixture now. They’ve actually been great and I think a lot of people that don’t like to raid or M+ have found it a really nice addition.

Look they are short, not much story driven, poorly repetitive as you have almost zero alternatives of how to complete them. People would be bored of them pretty fast unless Bluzzard does some alterations in 2nd season. Rising up mobs HP, making em damage sponges won’t do the trick.

I think this expansion will give them a good lot of data on their take up and how well they have been received.

I think they’ll do a similar type of activity even if it isn’t delves because the third pillar of the community need more than just open world content.

I don’t like them. I like WoW for its holy trinity system. If I’m playing retri, I can DPS and not think about other stuff. If I’m playing prot, I need to have agro and position mobs. If I’m playing holy, I need to pump heals and that’s about it. Delves gameplay is absolutely different. If I’m playing retri, I need to survive, kick, kite. I guess it’s more for PvP lovers and I’m not one of them.

err. in theory no. im not a PVPer and i love em.

And Dungeons or Raids are any different?

There is more scope for variation and development with Delves.
Dungeons are now heavily constrained by M+. They all have to be a similar length or difficulty to be in the M+ roster. They can’t have differing layouts or mechanics that make them stand out from the other M+.

Delves can be longer or shorter with puzzles or weird traps.

Delves can be iterated upon far more than Dungeons can at this stage, which is probably why Follower Dungeons are not the be-all for solo content just now.

I think we’ll see them in new expansions at least until the end of the worldsoul saga.

Whether they’re still useful in season 2 when everyone just runs high keys from the start wearing last season’s mythic raid gear, we’ll see.

They might bump the gear they offer, and then we’ll have the same issue we have now, where there is a giant difficulty disparity between raiding, m+ and delves for the same gear.

Definitely not. I hate PvP.

But I like Delves. I’m hoping the system will evolve a little bit, but it’s a good enjoyable basis.

It doesn’t matter if they are or not. That’s not why delves exist.
They offer an endgame to players who DON’T do M+ or raids or rpvp.

I think they are here to stay and may give even better gear in the future. I was doing a t10 yesterday on Guardian and I was getting obliterated by casts.

It seems strange they’ve created 3 difficulty levels that don’t give anything extra above an 8.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if later there are Super Bountiful Delves that are +9 and above that give even better gear. Perhaps Blizzard are just holding back and easing people into to it.

Those additional levels should definitely be doable once you’re geared through doing t8’s. If they aren’t, then Blizzard really screwed up the balancing of this progression.

I still haven’t tried anything above an 8. I did Zekvir at ‘?’,
But I’m not sure I’ll bother with anything past t8. It’s not part of the progression system imo; and what you get from it is of no interest to me.

I think in The War Within the existing Delves will just get a Seasonal modifier and updated progression track. Blizzard might add a new Delve or a new companion NPC in a patch or something like that, but outside of that (and some balance tuning) I think that’s the experience.

Looking beyond The War Within, I think Blizzard will want to stick with the framework of a ~15 minute solo-focused affair with a boss encounter at the end, as well as a progression track and a reward scheme with endgame gear.

The nitty-gritty gameplay is a bit more up in the air. I think time will tell on that front. Like, is the companion NPC integral to the gameplay experience? Are the objectives superfluous? Should there be conditions for losing beyond dying? Is the rotation of maps and stories interesting? Are power-ups interesting? Should they be expanded? Are other power systems worth considering? Is the story emphasized enough? Should it be emphasized less?

There’s a heap of stuff there. And in that sense it does feel like a Beta test right now.

But I do think Blizzard will want to stick with the concept itself, which is really nothing new. I mean, Delves are just another iteration of Torghast and Island Expeditions and Horrific Visions and Scenarios. This gameplay concept has existed in WoW for ages. It’s just with Delves it’s the first time Blizzard have framed it as a core endgame pillar and an evergreen feature. But gameplay-wise it’s just a variation on a theme we’ve had for 10+ years.

I did clear the 10 it’s just strange in a progression style game to have multiple levels that don’t offer anything that will help with progression.

Normally if t10 is too hard, go to t9 and farm some gear/currency to gain power to beat t10. Currently it isn’t like that. Doing t9 won’t give anything to help clear t10, well not anything that t8 doesn’t already give.
