Devs you failed

13 item levels are not even close to 15% damage increase for a single item slot, if you believe that for a second you are delusional.

let me compare this to a guild raid activity. Let’s say in a raid like ICC, you really hate the blood part for some reasons, will you tell to your guild “i really hate this part i’m afk continue as 24” ? Even further you walking in a guild since wotlk Phase 1, you loved naxx, you loved ulduar but you hate ToGC, will you say to your guild “ok i’m afk 6 monthes but keep my place for icc” ?

That’s how it works mostly. Even if you dont appreciate the way to get something, you may enjoy the reward.
I do enjoy archeology in reasonable amount, but i enjoy minmaxing more, for me and for my guild. Since we are running 10 man HC roster, 1 weapon increasing my dps for 5 to 10 % is huge since we are 6 dps in raid. I agree it might be a bit more anecdotal in 25 man with 18 dps in raid.

As i said i do enjoy archeology as a casual use on the side, and it is what it was designed for : a secondary professions that you do on the side to chill.

We can take the problem on different angle, but the result is the same putting 359 items right now on a pure RNG system is not a good design. They could have removed archeology on pre patch that would be nice, they could have added a grind system (some kind of bad luck protection smh) that would be nice too but the CURRENT state is just pure frustration for people who want to push to the best for their character.

Would it really? Because I feel we’d hear even higher outrage since people would devote their time to get the most impactful BiS in an even shorter time limit.

I don’t know we have 9 days to level + gear for raid, during those 9 days we will have tons of things to do… During launch you have a choice like “Spam dungeon to get a 346 upgrade or gamble archeology to grab a 359 big upgrade ?”. At the moment the really frustrating part is the deal “we offer you 1 way to grab a HUGE upgrade for cata, but the grind is horrible, will you try it ?”

i feel like this pre patch is a bit all or nothing and that’s frustrating.

Why does an archaeology weapon become “HUGE” upgrade in prepatch but only “big” in launch ? We can’t use it yet.
Its value is the same, the possibility to get a 346 weapon doesn’t just suddenly vanish.

Feel like you discuss with a huge bias.
I personally think this is the best way, now we have so much time to do whatever we want. There’d be practically 0 time to farm Archaeology while getting all profs up, lvl char to 85, farm dungeons, farm heroics.

You’re just playing with words english isn’t my native langage, the upgrade is obviously still the same

You’re the one that is wording it that way, i’m just pointing it out.
Not my native language either, i’m swedish.

However the way you phrased it i think is valid to call out.
Considering how amazing you believe the weapon to be.

We’re getting post nerfed raid aswell, so you’ll clear normal first week, heroic the next & farm it even with 346 weapons.

optional stuff is optional, you’re supposed to get the loot only if you’re lucky, nobody said you had to grind arch, and stop asking for QQ protection

Could just skip first raid tier

I wouldn’t have worded it in this way, but I 100% agree with the sentiment. Adding bad luck protection when it no longer matters is just adding insult to injury.

So nobody was older than 16 years when playing Cata first time around (2010)? Anybody older was a millionaire or what. They were 10-11 when starting to play WoW in Vanilla? ^^

Is this going to be a running theme to the end of time? “I don’t want to do World Quests is Classic Legion, people were teenagers then and had time”.

ok lets test your knowledge then. A lot of people were playing cata back in 2010 that were older than 16 and didnt had time as now. The difference though was that archeology introduced after cata released and not on prepatch. And when people starting searching for the sword or staff , those items were already irrelevant unless used in transmog because raids were already released and live. Now in the other hand Blizzard decide to release archeology in prepatch and give access to 85lvl epics while being only lvl 80 so making them preRaid bis.

And ive never said “i dont have time, so gimme stuff for free”. What the community is asking is the Bad luck protection. Doesnt give you anything for free, it just gives you a small reward each time you fail till you succeed.
This to me its a win-win situation for everyone. If you are luck, gz you get the items in like 200 solves. If you are unlucky you get a higher chance each time and at least you know that if you do the efford EVENTUALLY you will make it. As its now you may never make it even after 2000-3000 solves because blizzard refuse to comment on the matter or even publish some numbers of %.

Why people are flaming the #fixarcheology people when then only thing we ask is that if we put the time on it, and the grinding that is required to at least know that at some point we will claim the rewards???

p.s. People at this point still exist with 2300 up to 3500 solves with 1 epic or even 0 epics. You believe those people didnt grind enough? didnt put the time and the efford for it? or what devs said they enjoy the feeling of the yellow dots??

we believe the drops have never been guaranteed, works the same with raids, you could kill a boss 100 times and still dont get the item you’re after, so what? QQ protection for raids too?

If you’re a caster in a guild who didn’t get the staff but others in your guild did because RNG was in their favour but not yours then it’s a bad feeling to start a new expansion on since it already feels like you’re playing catch up before the raids have even opened.

I don’t think it’s “QQ” to feel like that. It’s just a really poorly thought out situation from the devs to put 359s into the pre-patch like this.

There are people existing that have been doin ZG since Vanilla and didn’t get the Tiger Mount. There are probably people that crafted couple hundred Darkmoon Cards and didn’t get the deck required for Greatness. There are likely people that failed every single roll for their preferred BiS during raiding so how is this any different?

surely it’s poor game design, they shouldn’t have made those items accessible before cataclysms actual relase but rng is rng

Are you talking about grinding some random worthless epic before expansion even released?

i totally agree with the ZG tiger and the darkmoon cards. The main difference is that in ZG and in darkmoon card or any other drop craft etc you know the chance you have for it, if its 1% or 0.1% you know in what type of grind or farm you put yourself in it. Right now with archeology you DONT know the chances or the %. That my argument. If blizzard posted few weeks ago " Look the % of epic 85lvl items is 0.5%" im pretty sure no1 would bothered. But if no1 bothered the activity time on prepatch since they launched nothing else as they did 14 years ago would be so down and that would look really bad on the numbers for their investors. That why they are not posting any numbers and refuse to reply in ANY POST considering archeology. Doesnt that seems a little SUS ?

They definitely would have grinded it just as much. It’s not like people didn’t already know from original cata how grindy those are to get.

Technically you don’t since most drop rates are really estimates made by community. And I’ve been through Darkmoon card grinding putting both time to compete against bots on my alt to gather Herbs and Essences needed for the craft and using gold to provide for them in emergency and buying cheaper cards outright. I did manage to save a bit compared to buying finished deck outright but it’s not a grind I’d like to repeat. It also costed same amount of materials I’d have to use to complete Northrend Research for Glyphs. Best joke? I got the deck roughly two weeks into Ulduar Phase (I was still denied those raids due to low GS and no prior experience) and in Phase 3 the upgrade which was Meteorite Crystal was available at Vendor because Titan Rune Beta existed. Yaaay?

But you know what? I do agree that Devs failed by not protecting players from themselves. They suck at it when they try though like when they decided to merge lockouts between Normal and Heroic raids with ToC which lead to those that were geared in increased ilvl Stuff from Ulduar to completely ignore Normal Difficulty forever preventing those unfortunate enough from catching up.
