DF is worse than SL

Maybe the Dragons not really tursted the “mortals who inherited the world” - can’t blame them - and thats why we need to prove ourselves (grind renown) and slowly they reveal the truth
Fit in nicely with the Dragons are mysterious and have a streak of superiority complex trope; “'kay murderhobo, you don’t need to know the details, just go there and do what you are the best in; killing stuff when ordered for a handfull of coins. Chop chop, the ship awaits!”

Whilst I appreciate that might make sense when you look into it deeply.

But from the experience whilst playing the game through, it feels empty 1) Not know why the Dragon Isle re-opened, 2) Having no real sense of impending doom in the background.

Now It doesn’t need to go full Shadowlands, here’s Death in your face as you’re running through hell, kind of impending doom. We can still have the side quests where we are picking up rabbits and flowers. But a little more urgency to matter at hand would have felt nice.

No real biggy though, I’m still playing the game

So, I guess you’re quitting then

Not having an impendig doom is not that bad
The looming - and quite vague - threat is enough most of the time
Take Lord of the Rings for example
We not even seen Sauron, tho’ he had a body (Gollum seen him during his torture and described having only four fingers, missing one that was chopped of with the Ring) and actually an army of Orcs and other nasties wasn’t that “the sky is falling” level of doom. Even in his prime when he had the ring, Sauron gratest threat was his manipulation and words *cough * Númenor want Atlantis *cough * not his, well, potential to cause the end of the word  We “feared” Suron because a few people, Galadriel, Elrond, Gandalf basically said so
This is the same, the Aspects said so
But I get what you mean and agree to your point of view too, just have another myself :beers:

It’s a breath of fresh air after SL, which was mostly monochrome in places, pea-soup green for Maldraxxus, grey for the Maw and Korthia, red for Revendreth, purple for Ardenweald, at least there are multiple colours on screen at one time in DF. (And that’s leaving aside that the “Corruption from within due to the Jailer’s 6D chess plotting”-plot was used in three out of four main zones)

Or Legion, where everything was fel-green (Makes sense with the expansion, but still…), DF may not be the prettiest, but it’s certainly not the worst.

You mean this one??

DF made me miss every single bad expansion before that. I still play the game for reasons, but I have embraced the fact (personal view) that this is not WoW anymore but some WoW-themed game.

Some points are spot on.

Thats just not what we’re used to in Warcraft. I can’t think of a single time where the expansions narrative hasn’t been driven forward by something going on in the background.

Dragonflight just felt like we were all preparing to go away on a holiday.

But that’s it. It’s just too vague.

As I say, it just feels like we’re on Holiday. Now, if we were on Holiday and “Oh no, these Primalists are causing a spot of bother, lets deal with them.” instead it’s “here take some photos”, “now lets kill 10 Primalists”, “lets go pet some rabbits”.

Now there are alot of really cool stories in the Expansion. I love the Djaradin, the Centuars are awesome, and my absolute favourite is everything to do with the Gnolls down to tiniest details like how you might see 1 but there are usually 2-3 more in stealth.
It’s all absolutely awesome.

It just misses that little bit of string tying it all together.

Just like in Shadowlands “Well here’s the Jailer, he wants to kill us all and destroy the world”, “Yeh, but why?”… “Why? Oh we’ll get to that later, for now you just want to hate this guy!”… and then when we finally get to it, we’re all let down and disappointed.

It seems they’re great at making the little stories, they just can’t really tie them together into a great story.

Just gonna add my to cents to this.

To your first point, personally i dont care, i haven’t paid attention to the story for a few expansions now. So this isn’t really a negative for me.

I think the dungeons are quite cool, i think the balancing needs a bit tweaking, there is to much difference between say something like SBG and Azure Vault for example…

As to the music, i’ve had music disabled since vanilla, so i couldn’t say one way or the other. I prefer my playlists either way.

There’s plenty to do outside m+ and raiding. It’s just a question if you like that kind of content, but it is very optional, so coming from SL and BFA it could to some feel like there’s nothing to do as the game doesn’t “force” you to do it.

Visions Torghast point, i am gonna add mage tower to that, and quite agree, i would like to see more resources put into solo challenges. While i think torghast was poorly implemented in the final product of SL for this, there was at least something like that.

Borrowed power and legendary items point, i couldn’t disagree more if i tried. For the first time in years, my class actually feels complete, and fun to play in a .0 patch.

To big zones, disagree, it actually feels like a world to explore now, instead of a densly packed fiesta of SL.

Too much sharding… That’s a hard one, with the removel of snap shotting in WoD the servers just can’t handle to many people at ones. The amount of calculations that needs to be done now for every spell is insane compared to the more simple way of MoP and before.

Pvp gear, i dont pvp, it doesn’t impact me at all.

Professions, some people find that kind of content fun, personally that’s not me, but those people exist, and i do think that kind of content should exist for those kind of people, so i disagree with your point, but agree professions aren’t fun for me

Overall i think it’s a really good expansion, at least for me.

On this one, I would say that Torghast was a failure and probably killed off the idea. Unlike Visions, there was no worthwhile reward for repeated runs once they became boring and repetitive through multiple plays. Also, Visions were only “live” content for a few months, but Torghast was intended to last the whole expack and it was nowhere near interesting enough for that.

As someone who doesn’t do rated PvP, the new gear is great and my guess is that a lot of casual PvPers have returned to non-Rated PvP having not played so much in SL. I don’t get the need for becoming OPed in PvP. Please show me a successful PvP game where hardcore players can massively out-gear causals and roflstomp them, because I do not know of any.

We were at the point where NOT having inclusivity was becoming a political statement. How can we be having same-sex relationships in popular mainstream kids TV shows (The Prince of Dragons on Netflix, How to Train Your Dragon: The Nine Realms on BBC in the UK) and not have any in Warcraft?

Lets be honest here. Lets compare an orange with an apple. I personally compare a start of an expansion with another start and not the begging of one with full fledged one.
So in my opinion the start of DF is leagues better than BFA and SL ever were. We will see how DF progresses but the start is much better than what SL and BFA had.

It’s way better than SL. I stopped my sub after a month on SL yet am still here and enjoying it.

I enjoy the story and voice acting too. Nice to be able to follow it without looking at wowpedia every 5 secs to know what is going on.

Obviously having a few same-sex couples in the game is an absolute travesty and bigots’ sense of escapism being even slightly affected isn’t worth checks notes normalizing homosexuality enough that ppl stop abusing, killing and discriminating against gays

Let’s be realistic - I am a gay man myself and the gay representation in DF is borderline ridiculous, I was playing and thinking ‘‘ANOTHER gay couple?’’ it feels like every single couple is gay.

And it feels like an absolute token gesture.

I agree that it feels like they were put in willy-nilly to fill some diversity quota and not because Blizz actually cares, but I’ve seen people go on entire tirades about “woke” like a few gay characters, no matter how poorly written, are somehow the death of WoW. It’s a bit overkill

WOD will cry soon, that he lost the No1 spot of the most No Feature and NothingToDO Expansion . DF will take the lead.

DF will go down faster than Shadowlands.

Plus, we still don’t have DF sales numbers. Its a first lol.

well i leveled 2 charthers to 70 and they do less dps then a level 58 or 60
so why will i level up to become weaker ? dont thing so …

Can highly relate to your first point here, the others not so much. Garbage lore and cringe woke agenda are basically the fly in the soup of this expansion.
