Do you guys remember MoP cinematic trailer where human and orc fight and see Pandaren for the 1st time? Whats up with that dude? Outside of that expansion there is literary 0 active pandaren npcs. We have Baine, Anduin, Sylvanas even Thrall and Draka and all of the others, why don’t we get to see pandas anywhere?? I really liked MoP and that style, but it seems like Blizzard forgot about them.
he isn’t a faction leader
No but they still could do more with the Pandaren faction leader’s from each side (Aysa Cloudsinger and Ji Firepaw), they have such a small part in the story you forget they even exist.
there are many loopholes in wow story telling . in bfa they left quite alot of unfinished stories . sadly story telling is not blizzard strong point . for lore ffxiv is beating wow big time for a long time .
Isn’t it Chen Stormstout?
I get that part, but we have a main character from almost any race, we never seem to get pandaren npc that stands above the rest. Im not pandaren main, but hear me out: in shadowlands, we could have gotten a pandaren monk dude who helps out main npcs and is like super calm and that is his main strength
Or even brewmaster monk, just to be used as a comedic break when the story gets too serious… literally anything could work
i think it is. I love the story with him and his niece.
“he” as in the panda in the cinematic isnt. We do however have 2 pandaren faction leaders.
Yes it is.
Said dude was present in Legion and BFA. As for pandaren in general: Not many have chosen to side with the Horde and Alliance or leave their respective homes in general.
Isn’t Taran Zhu the character in cinematic?
It’s Chen Stormstout, he is also the one narrating it.
Welcome to Blizzard writing. This is what happens when you add a race but have no idea what to do with them in the expansions after the one where they’re in focus.
Draenei are like that too. Almost no significantly relevant characters, Velen is only relevant in TBC and Legion, and I guess we had WoD and Yrel. In other expansions when you see Draenei NPCs they’re mostly token NPCs.
Back to pandaren, last time we saw Chen was in the legion monk class hall I think. Blizzard just doesn’t know what to do with pandaren if it’s not Pandaria or monks.
Pandaren were totally forget. A pity imho.
You would have seen references to Chen in Vanilla.
In the Barrens you would have come across Chen’s Empty Keg.

Chen had huge arc in MoP. Then he had large role during monk campaign in Legion. After that he had major role in story quests during Nzoth invasions in BfA.
I think he and Lulu need a little break, no reason to drag them into shadowlands.
Tbh i haven’t seen that. We really could have used at least one monk in shadowlands, they would be usefull, monks are usually spirit leaders and they would work here perfectly. Bad writing imo.
Their spirit power would be meaningless in the shadowlands. Same as the Shamans. They couldnt do anything with it really. At best they could have served in 9.0 to tell the Kyrian that their “abandon your memories” was stupid in its entirety as well.
Other than that the fact we players are there should already tell every being in the Shadowlands that something is wrong given our canon ability to corpserun and with that stand above the laws of the shadowlands.
I guess it’s partly because Pandarians were hidden away on their Island for so long, they haven’t really got settled in to the rest of the World yet.
Yes it is and anyone can read up about him here.
This discussion also made me rewatch the MoP Cinematic. It was great.
It does give me major Po vibes though. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing.
Kung Fu panda humour and Warcraft humour are not terribly different at times.
