I am totaly confused… did I just lost 45 crests upgrading my 1 Hand Weapon and Shield instead of a 2 Hand Weapon?
How is that fair?
First of all due to a bug I lost 15 crests that you get from reputation, Blizz never gave those back to me. Now I think I lost even more crests since I used them to upgrade my 1 Hand Weapon and Shield (off-hand) instead of a 2 Hand Weapon that cost only half of the crests to upgrade and counts towards both slots… off-hand and main-hand.
What is this Bull S_t? How Is This Fair? Why Do I Play This Game? I really need to stop! This is unfair and anoying.
I think OP is trying to say it costs more crests to upgrade a 1 hander and shield than a 2 handed weapon. Which would be unfair to duel wield characters.
That and once you level a slot to a certain ilvl, all future upgrades for that slot cost less valorstones and crests. If he levelled a 2hander, the later he could swap it for 1h/shield and upgrade those cheaper. IMHO upgrading 2H and 1h/shield should cost the same but you DO get more stats out of 1h/shield and well … you get a shield as a bonus on top of that so I see Blizzard’s reasoning.
Or you could drop one, upgrade it / use it early, then look to replace it later. Sucks a bit for ele with that imbue shield mechanic but there’s not really a reason resto can’t use a staff for now.
Yea its realy stupid system , if u play for example a prot pala , who is definitely only playing 1h and shield and nothing else, u are better to get any 2h and max it out, then upgrade your 1h + shield.
Does it really work? I tried to do this with veteran-track gear out of curiosity, yet equipping higher ilvl staff (I was experimenting and used agi staff on a warlock, but I’m not sure if it matters) didn’t give discount for 1h/oh.
The PvP currency costs for gear don’t match up though, and that benefits some classes / specs. If you buy a sword and shield on a Prot Pally it costs a total of 1300 bloody tokens, but if you buy a two-handed sword for Ret it costs 1750 bloody tokens. Also, if you dual-wield as Warrior, DH etc you get two weapon enchants.
That’s always been accounted for by the tuning of the specs themselves, it’s not an advantage. If anything it’s a disadvantage cuz they have to buy two of them.
I had a 606 delve staff last week and got a 616 off hand in my vault. I had a veteran 1 hander in my bag. Was able to upgrade the 1 hander to 606 without crest-costs.
Can some kind person confirm if I have this correct: -
If I upgrade an item in a particular slot to a certain iLvl (let’s say head to 610), and later equip a different helm of a lower iLvl in that slot, it won’t cost any crests to upgrade it to 610. It will cost me valor stones, but the valor stone cost will be discounted until I get to 610, after which point it will cost me the normal valor stones and crests cost to upgrade further.
If my main has a 610 head slot item equipped and my alt has a 594 item equipped in that slot, my alt will get a valor stones discount to upgrade that slot, but will pay the normal crest cost. After my alt gets the slot to 610, there is no further discount, but point 1 will apply if my alt changes head slot item to something of a lower iLvl.
From what OP said: if I upgrade a 2H, the discounts will apply to 1H and OH.
If you upgrade a ring/trinket, does the discount apply to the other ring/trinket slot? Or are they treated separately? Same principal for dual wielding 1H weapons?
TIA. I’m trying not to waste them, as I don’t have a lot of time to farm them.
