Dimensius as a last minute final villain is pathetic

God forbid we have a female villain for once, no, let’s make her suddenly change sides, and replace her with… literally a boring nothingburger of a random void mob from a Burning Crusade quest.

You know, some other games are memed for sidelining their main villain in favor of some random eldritch thing at the very end, but usually there is some sort of justification like it was some puppetmaster, or the manifestation of hate or death (thinking Zelda Twilight Princess and Final Fantasy IV and IX), but here it was literally… “Never mind the whole expansion, let’s pretend that never happened, now here is this enemy you may remember from Netherstorm 18 years ago. Well, that’s your villain now, and look we even brought Netherstorm 2.0”.
(at least Netherstorm 2.0 looks cool)

I hope the next expansion’s main bad guy will be Zenn Foulhoof.

We also killed Queen Ansurek in this same expansion. Not female enough for you?

Euuuuuh… ‘sure’
Want spoilers?

Xal is a multi-expansion main villain! Even better.

She quite literally betrays you at the end of the raid. She even tells you that she will betray you during the raid.

Its a trilogy. She wont be killed until The Last Titan.

Mmmmmaybe.
Or maybe Midnight will throw us a curve ball.

Something something she becomes void lord. Something something she noms on the pantheon. Something something azeroth sargeras. Something something Iridikron being the bad of Midnight. Something something.

Or something like that.

I don’t share your Viewpoint right now Xal’atath clearly seems to be the big Bad for the world Soul saga , killing her Off after the 1st act would be stupid.

Which is, funnily enough given this thread, something people heavily criticized the Jailer for. No buildup.

I would expect it the other way around. We deal with her in Midnight (but maybe she’s not ‘gone’ but rather imprisoned again or something - to keep that ace in Blizzard’s pocket). And then in Titan, we have Iridikron returning to kill the titans. He has the issues with them; not Xal.

“I wanna DESTROY the Titans!”
“I wanna ABSORB the Titans!”

“RAWWR!”
“RAWWR!”

Xal was built up in BFA though.

Also I highly doubt she’ll be the main villain of the trilogy, since they are HEAVILY telegraphing that the titans will be the final bad guys (boring, btw). If anything she’ll be the equivalent of a Darth Vader / Zuko type character.

And this is the exactly what happend, when you don’t listen to the story or don’t give any attention to the game …

Xal sided with us, just to betray us at the end
She was also never meant to be a final boss of the first part of World Sould Saga.

Just FYI “God Forbid we had a female villain”

… BFA - Azshara (she’ll most likely return for Midnight too), Lady Ashvane
… Shadowlands / BFA - Sylvanas
… Dragonflight - Raszageth (female primal incarnate)

Next time, when creating a weekend post, try to be more creative … I give it 1/10

You feed her some power. N’Zoth frees her. And she buggers off straight after. Much buildup, much wow. She didnt receive much buildup until now. Even during legion its debatable while she was just chilling in the dagger with her priest buddy.

Aha. What telegraphs other than Azeroth not liking anybody that isnt native to Azeroth (not just titans) and the Earthen being the last race on azeroth realizing the Titans have blueprints with hardresets build in? They realized something the other titantic races learned when the curse of flesh hit and even the biggest numbskulls (mogu and co) realized it when Sargeras oneshot the pantheon.

At least Blizzard is learning now and is Building up Villains Like Xal’atath and Iridikron , butni guess some people Just wanna cry

They’re telegraphing that there’s no ‘truly good’ side in that ageless cosmic war.

I think it’ll be ‘us’ against the light AND void.
Maybe with the help of ‘death’ (hello Sylvanas) since void fears that (been told as much twice now). And my personal theory is that ‘life’ is feared by light - for one reason or another. And that is how the Haranir are tied to the Last Titan - as protectors of the world tree Elun’Ahir.

We’ll see what happens. Next week we’ll know a little more.

Which we are aware of since wotlk as far as we players go. We also more or less had to deal with a world wide reset mechanic every expansion since wotlk and Algalon saying hi. The Pantheon have been in a “please leave us the beep alone. You just cause problems” light since well over a decade. This isnt a new trope.

I don’t like them trying new tropes anymore since they went with ‘the entire universe is programmed by ancient beings’ in Shadowlands. How’s that for self-aggrandizement… The devs put themselves in the game as the ultimate creator gods.

I hate it.

Looks like a first solid villain after Legion to be honest.

Ragebait thread detected!

Maybe.

But I didn’t expect so many people actually agreeing that this is good storytelling.
