I’m still a noob to this game, both live and classic so bare with me.
I’ve been doing a hell load of quests to level, and they seem to be SO boring in the long run. I notice you get a lot of faction reputation from them though, and I can imagine that being a big advantage in the end, or does it really matter that much if you’re just honored with your factions by the time you’re 60?
I’m thinking about running a lot of dungeons as I always seem to enjoy leveling that way rather than running around doing all these quests by my own. Would it be very disadvantageous to do a lot of levels through dungeon exp and missing out faction reputation in comparison to levelling by quests and having a higher standing by the time I’m 60? Or is it possible to grind reputation in other ways by the time that I’m 60 than going back and doing the low level quests I skipped?
In short; Can I level in dungeons and skip majority of quests without worrying about having a poor character in terms of end-game content?
I don’t think too many people will be able to recommend this strategy you’ve suggested (especially if you’re new). Off of the top of my head:
You will need to catch up on questline attunements, imagine doing BRD so many times to level up, and then having to go back there to do the Onyxia attunement
You miss out on some decent gear by skipping all quests.
There will be points where there is only 1 or 2 dungeons which award exp, then the grind becomes worse than questing.
Faction rep is a factor but an incredibly small one imo
There are some excellent grouping/community experiences in the world that unfortunately dungeon groups just fall short of

Yes, but I would highly recommend not doing that. Many quests can be boring, there’s no denying that. I don’t imagine running the same dungeon tens of times over is going to be that much more enjoyable however. Some quests are very enjoyable to group up with friends in, such as the orcs in redridge, morbent fel, khan hratha and many more.
You’ll deprive yourself of some really fun times if you don’t at least do a good amount of both. Ultimately if you really do prefer to do dungeons then go for it! Sorry for the essay.
Very detailed and helpful response, exactly what I was looking for. So generally I shouldn’t be worried about running a dungeon a couple of times in a row, then jumping to a new zone suitable for my level if say I started SM Library at 34, levelled to 37 from that, I can just hop into the new zone fit for my level without any worries that I didn’t do a specific quest in the previous one?
I just googled, I can see questline attunement starts at level 54. I get your point, it’s a good idea to pick that up as soon as possible …
Then again i still have to find a better reward then the WC staff from quest.Just the recent one from Tanaris quest line 46lvl fell short to something you get from a lvl 18 dungeon.
Dont want to mention all the try hards with there ravager dungeon spam inv.
U can skip the elite quests if u cant find groups for it, and then run dungeons all day long and level that way… but u wont expierence the old azeroth questing. Some leveling places are also full with gankers like strangelethorn vale. And YES the quests are indeed boring from old azeroth. It is mostly kill/collect quests, there are maybe a few nice quest chains but thats it really. Most quests require u to kill/ or loot certain mobs to complete it. If u dont like those quests u can try dungeons.
Hey again. That sounds like a very sensible approach. No need to force yourself into things; the spirit of classic imo is that you do what you want, at the pace that you want whilst being able to play with your friends all the same.
I think everything has been covered really! I tend to do quests in an arew until they turn orange then i head off to a dungeon to get those quests wrapped up and off to a new zone . Id also recommend taking 15 or so mins occasionally and just grinding the same kind of mob (the ones that just seem to melt in front of your class). This is a great way to fill up bags to sell and almost passively build gold towards your mount
To me Classic is all about the world map - questing/exploring/gathering resources and of course, PvP while doing all of that.
If you’re not going to experience the game as a whole and are interested solely in dungeons/raids, there’s little point to play Classic as content design/class balance is nowhere near Retail.
