[Discord Community] Argent Dawn Gnome Discord - Arclight, GAC, GRS & You!

Welcome one and all, thank you for click on our topic. This topic is an advertisement for a new Discord Community, one that will embody the Gnomish values we all know and love; openness, fairness and kindness.

While there are other communities out they we at the Gnomish Air Corps and A.R.C.L.I.G.H.T Association feel they do not represent the true Gnomish spirit that both our two guilds were founded on and stand for. As such we welcome you all to join the Argent Dawn Gnome Discord for interesting, open and fun discussion of Gnomish matters and cooperation to further the Gnomish agender!

We would like to point out that toxic behaviour or racism regardless if it is portrayed as a joke is not permitted and will be dealt with swiftly. No one should stand for such behaviour and we will not let it stand in our Discord.

The admins, for now, are made up as Myself (Gronvin/Tienie - GAC), Quizley (Arclight), Ozisus Warpwrench (Arclight) and Frigga (GRS).

We have also managed to wrestle the good old timers (please don’t kill me) from the Gnomish Rescue Squad to join up as well. So why not join up today for a super swell old time.

The Discord Rules:
1 - Please respect each other and treat each other with kindness and understanding.
2 - Chat is in English as it is a common language everyone understands.
3 - There will be no racism, sexism, homophobia or abuse of any kind.
4 - There will be no NSFW images or content, including text/ERP, of any kind.
5 - Banter is okay, but don’t try to be a smartass and say your harassment of someone is “just banter”.
6 - Please do not discuss politics or religion, it only leads to problems.
7 - Trying to exploit a loophole in the rules will be treated as rule breaking.

I’m in this discord and it’s been very useful for making contact with other Gnomish guilds and arranging RP and RP/PVP with them. I do believe sometimes multiple discords will pop up because different people have different tastes in social atmosphere.

In all seriousness, we just decided to make this server because most of us didn’t like the lenient moderation style of the other one. It is absolutely subjective which one is preferred, and I wouldn’t want to belittle Ryder’s work for those that are still more comfortable in his one.

As for the peonposting, it wasn’t done with any ill intent as we believed everyone already knew they were our alts. It was a bad decision in hindsight and we will try our best to be more transparent moving forward to avoid any more mixups.

Pretty much this, it was a major slipup in hindsight and wasn’t done with any malice or cruel intention. It was a dumb move of mine that shouldn’t have been posted and I have nothing else to add other than it won’t be done again.

As far as the peon posting goes there have been far, far, FAR worse things posted on the forum with much more malice actually intended.

I don’t want to turn this into a thread about bashing on the other server because that’s not my intent at all - it’s entirely optional and free to join either or both, and the fact remains that there’s a large enough group of people interested in a more strictly moderated community to warrant it existing.

If it dies out due to lack of use, then I’ve made a miscalculation but it’s not the end of the world. I know I and a lot of people in my guild weren’t inclined to use the other server for said reasons, with many leaving or straight up not joining in the first place.

I’d like to address this here so everyone can read. Let me start by saying that I tried and am still trying my absolute best with the discord. My plan from the start was to create a friendly environment for EVERYONE while remaining a neutral mediator to try and calm the waters if arguements or discussions were to happen. That was the core concept of my discord, try and get all the gnomish guilds togheter in a friendly community that could help us organize events on a racial scale.

Now, it’s obvious that I knew it was gonna be a hard task from the start. Everyone is different, some people are more sensitive and others are more abrasive. I’ve seen complaints about the fact that I didn’t kick people right off the bat, but that’s because I -NEVER- kick or ban someone from my server without giving them an ultimatum. I always give people a chance. There’s been an instance in which someone was banned because he did not respect the ultimatum. This is how I handle troublemakers, some people may call it being “too permissive” or being “spineless”, but I think it’s just fair to give everyone a second chance.

I really don’t want to derail this thread because I’m friends with many of you and I’d like to keep that bond strong. I really don’t care about the creation of a second discord, but I felt insulted after my own discord was put down to try and elevate your own. That’s pretty much all there is it to it.
