I’d like to hear your opinions on Duskwood RP and both its positive and negative sides. Which part of it do you like, which not? What you you think can/should be improved, and what is realistic to improve?
I’ve personally always been interested in Duskwood as a zone, due to its unique atmosphere and story within WoW and would like to know whether you guys also think that it has a great potential regarding RP.
The few interactions and sessions I’ve had as a Horde player RP’ing in Duskwood have been grand, thanks to the Elixir of tongues and accomidating RP’ers of the Alliance.
when newly arrived druids in the twilight grove create rules of who is allowed inside and who will be executed on place by the duskwood militia lyrebird associationonyxguard random noble houses
That’s actually an interesting subject. Who, in your opinion, actually holds the Grove? The Dreamweavers/Cenarion Circle or the Alliance? We know that the green dragonflight held the Grove before Emeriss got killed by the adventurers, so is it likely that the Alliance had laid claim to the Grove afterwards?
It’s a fantastic zone. One of the very best in the game, imo, atmosphere-wise.
But the players who inhabit it ruin it. Now, I don’t really even mean the cringey DKs and stuff - they’re just having fun and being unintentionally silly. It’s more the ones who try to control the zone and dictate what should and shouldn’t happen there that have really turned me off.
Granted, both of these types have made Darkshire itself relatively difficult to use.
Duskwood setting itself isn’t bad, but the majority of people there are, I am sorry to say, just terrible, and since beginning of Legion I stayed out of the zone…
I agree that it is silly to fully dictate who is and who is not allowed in the Grove. Do you think that the Druid RPers, if they are truly neutral Cenarions tending to the Grove and the Dream Portal (which is after all a big deal) should be welcoming to both factions and let in everyone but the hostiles who seek conflict?
We’ve seen something like this in the other neutral Cenarion bases on Azeroth, like the Cenarion Wildlands in Desolace after all.
I’m mostly curious because, I believe that the Grove is a good place for neutral, cross faction Cenarion RP, and the concept is also good. A small number of Druids tending to the Grove surrounded by dark and cursed woods full of horrors who threaten them daily. It has potential in my opinion.
It’s in the heart of Alliance territory, it belongs to the alliance, no doubt. Sure, the druids can make their little grove, but that doesn’t mean the land is now some bastion of neutrality. That is, enforced neutrality. I’m fully on-board with some crossfac whatever there, but to just stand around like nothing can hurt you (because you OOC know nothing can without your permission) is big un-cool.
Not you as in Uruk, you as in an abstract nameless individual.
But is it that way? Remember that the Grove was formerly held by the green dragonflight, even before the Alliance had laid claim to Duskwood (forgot its original name). And they held it all the way until vanilla.
And what’s the green Flight gonna do about it? Lose their specialness rlly hard in Cata?
I get your point, but there’s pretty much no reason to RP as though it’s some safe-haven for all. It’s still alliance territory, visiting hordies should still stay on their toes.
The reason why I’m asking is because I’m interested in RPing as a neutral Cenarion there (as I see great potential for such a RP there) and would like to know how it should realistically be done.
darkshire/raven hill = dk edge rp all day every day
militia/PMC’s/guards = “we conktrol thiz playce, u do as we sey”
grove = should have been sylvanas’ real target. that place needs to be incinerated and cleansed of the people that try to control it
Actually, I’d like to avoid drama. I am merely interested in people’s opinion and suggestions regarding the Duskwood RP. I hope the discussion shall remain civil.
A noble endeavor, though I question how possible it’ll be.
Well, step one, don’t force Red & Blue to co-exist. You know the neutral finger-wagger I always complain about, don’t be that.
Don’t act as a dome of untouchability to all Horde. If they’re naughty outside the Grove, they can’t just run in there and claim diplomatic immunity when guards come a-knockin’.
That is fine. But it is also acceptable to not wish to be involved in the faction conflict and merely tend to the Grove and guard the Dream Gate, yes? After all, if you take sides, then you are not neutral after all.
