When I started roleplaying several years ago, I wrote my first night elf as a pretty ugly woman. Since I was quite young, I thought this would be a deterrent for anyone trying to hit on her.

Didn’t work, someone tried to get into her pants the very same night.

Yes elaborate, i have similiar problem where i require a trebuchet to see perfect, this makes my love live quite difficult for it requires quite the time to build and the girl i want to hit on is gone by the time it is loaded.

I’ll throw in my two cents. I think it’s natural most people want to play attractive characters, and while I (even though I tend to do it with reason myself) cringe about it sometimes, I don’t think it’s necessarily more boring, but you don’t have to be Stormwind’s hottest woman. About the hourglass shape, ofcourse it exists in real life, but you don’t see the exaggerated photoshop version walking around every day.
I also think, what others already have lifted, that you should take into account what the different races sees as beautiful.
