Dispell character?

i have heard allot of people talking about making a priest/shaman and lvl them to the lvl where you get purge/dispel magic and just going to major cities and dispel people is this a bannable offence or does it go under the fact its a pvp realm? this happens allot on my server and idk if im valid on reporting them for it?

It’s only bannable if you wall jump into an unreachable place and dispell from there.

The act of dispelling by itself isn’t bannable.

it does say under the TOS for pvp it says that it can be griefing if you cant defend yourself or do anything about what’s happening like they res next to you and instantly dispel you you cant defend yourself against that so wouldn’t that go against the terms and count as griefing?

The TOS is incredibly vague and the rules in Classic are enforced differently to the rules in Retail.

In Classic, the general rule of thumb is “pvp activity against the opposing faction isn’t griefing”. The only time it’s considered griefing is if you and your guild charge lvl1s into Kazzak to feed him whilst others fight him.

You can dispell as much as you want. People will hate you for it, but as long as you’re not breaking other rules (I.E. walljumping and “safespotting”) you won’t get banned.

There was a case earlier this year where a player was banned for dispelling a streamer. Blizzard then jumped in and unbanned the player and I believe the GM in question will have faced a disciplinary.

Long story short. If you seriously want to waste your time dispelling people’s world buffs, Blizzard wont stop you.

That really is a way to move the goalposts.

We could make it so killing a lowbie is griefing. How would a lowbie defend himself against a 60? Or a geared player killing a fresh 60. In fact why don’t we just go further and make it griefing if someone who is skilled kills someone who is unskilled.

Nah make it so everyone has to come to an agreement to be able to attack each other like duels but just for opposing faction!

Cool… We have reinvented PvE realms.

You can defend yourself , don’t get any worldbuffs or go an a pve server , or hart into lakeshire or westfall , drop pvp there and you will not be able to be taged for pvp when you get to stw

op lives up to his name

i don’t get why people are mad at me? i was juts asking a simple question i don’t try to parse every week and and go for record times but i have guildies that run DMT often and set up groups for songflower and such so i just join to help the guild run go smoother and im a healer most wolrd buffs don’t benefit me either

that wasnt really my point basicly people complain in world chat everytime it happends o nnormal buff times and they keep telling people to report the dispelers so they can get banned for it and such was just wondering if they actually would cuz of the drama with the streamer

The streamer thing was a mistake, or corruption, or whatever. You have to pretend it never happened.

yeah i get that but still so manny people are saying they will get banned for it i guess that’s just a reaction you get when you irritate people

I doubt ToS are so specific, are they? In practice, nothing is griefing except same-faction griefing.

Unless you do it to a streamer. :joy:

I got dispelled in BB earlier this week and it was awesome.

This pretty much.
Unless the player doing it is actively breaking other rules they are well within their right to do it, PvP problems have PvP solutions.
If you don’t like it your choice is either suck it up or consider transferring to a PvE server
