I finally managed to get engineering and starting soloing DMT for buffs/items etc. Then i realised there’s massive competition(on golemagg horde side at least), hunters are undercutting their fellow mates for 1-2g in order to make money.
This isnt cool at all. Soloing DMT times time and effort and we shouldnt undercut this.
I believe if all hunters agree on a price standard serverwise, we can all make money out of this. Here are the price lists that i propose;
-Selling dmt buffs without the need of invisibility potion = 8g
-Selling dmt buffs with the need of invisibility potion = 5g
-Selling dmt buffs with second guard frozen in place= 10g(this is up to debate obviously)
Now these proposed price lists doesnt really include rogues and druids since they can stealth either way. So for them, it can be 5g.
Also a proposition for DM tribute items(buffs will be free with anyone who buys items);
-Tarnished elven ring = 30g. Prebis for many classes, hence the price.
-rod of ogre magi = 30g. used to be prebis but zg came out,so there are alternatives, hence the lower price(used to be 40-50g before zg,so)
-ogre forged hauberk = 20g. Still a great item, but its not a big demand like the ring.
Rest of the tribute items are garbage, so if you have a customer for em, put whatever price you see fit.
Thanks uncle lenin, but there’s one crucial thing about cartels you seem to be missing on your post, which is coercion. This isn’t a thing in wow, nor in many civilized western nations.
you guys seem to be missing a crucial point.
dmt buffs are ALWAYS in demand, especially more when aq and naxx comes out.
hence putting a standard price will be a win win situation for both the customer and service provider(which is hunter). Customers wont need to /w many hunters to get prices, and hunters dont need to compete with each other.
it has nothing to do with communism(lol) or cartel. this isnt colombia.
5g is the standard price that everyone use. Doesn’t really matter if you have to use an invi pot or not, because the players often doesn’t carry an invi pot and they will kill the mob that prevent them to go into king, with you. They are easy 2-man-able.
Sometime I saw some undercut at 4g, but 99% of time player use 5g to sell the buff. 8g is way to much, unless maybe if you have a Warlock that sum you and a Mage that port you after.
Your server has way lower prices than most. almost certainly because there are too many hunters selling buffs. under your scheme the odds are most hunters won’t be able to fill there groups. They will always be better off undercutting your list price and getting more customers.
The price fall will no doubt put some hunters off selling tribute. This will lower the supply, and push the prices to an equilibrium
That’s not quite how economy works. When prices go up, fewer people buy, because some cannot afford it or will decide they have other priorities. There are whole Ph.D. theses around how to find the sweet spot that maximizes profit.
You’re also ignoring DMT runs are not a limited resource and the moment you make DMT more profitable you attract more players that could do it today but don’t bother yet because they don’t find it worth it. Your “massive competition” will necessary get worse.
Other practical problems:
You need to contact everyone doing tributes for gold. You’re not reaching a lot of people in these forums (let alone from your realm).
Everyone must agree to apply the same prices (which may not be exactly your proposal)
When two or more “tribute runners” are available at the same time they must organize themselves to split their clientele or profit
Everybody must resist the temptation of offering lower rates to attract a larger part of the cake, even if that means going home empty-handed after clearing DMT if nobody accepts their prices at the moment they offer their services.
Large guilds often do their own DMT runs for buffs and gear and even sell it once done. Making DMTs significatively more expensive will attract even more guild runs.
