invest in renewable energy generation… you’ll soon be earning more money than you are spending on your electric bills. they will actually be giving you money each month.
It’s only good for selling services, wow token and shiz’narasz that used to be promo stuff (literally so far the Collector’s Edition mounts and pets). All this new stuff could easily be added into the game in fun ways. To give examples for each ‘type’:
Celestial Steed-the first thing that started this all? Obviously gonna be a rare Algalon drop.
Lil’ Ursoc-have druids of all races to level 50 on your account.
Celestial Observer’s Ensemble-the appearances achievements have been neglected, so collect 20 of them!
Transmorpher Beacon-defeat current bosses in WoW or complete 10 Glory metas.
The store has been in the game is some form since Wrath. If Blizzard were really “money hungry” they could have introduced actual pay to win many years ago. Whose to say it wont happen but while WoW is still hugely profitable in it’s current model I can’t see that changing for a long while.
Other games call it a loyalty reward. It doesn’t cost you any extra.
I need my gametime tho.
I avoid monthly billing as much as I can.
Never really bought anything beyond the feydragon mount as far as cosmetics go tho
I do wonder to how many months they’ll have to stretch it before people start scratching themselves behind the head.
‘Yeah I plan on playing the next 18 months anyway’
‘Yeah I plan on playing the next 2 years anyway’
12 month reward is silly and sends very mixed signals for how ready DF is for launch.
Me too. Personally I think it’s a decent enough offer. If you’re playing for the next year, which I will be due to the release of the new expac, you save money. A bunch of extra mounts on top just sweetens the pot.
I’m not a big fan of them selling seperate mounts at 20 Euros a pop, but this one is saves me money overall so, thumbs up
But I like my store mounts and pets!
Like how I like RP on my Server
From my point of view, I got what I came for; had/have fun, relax, made friends and have some nice mounts and pets for a price of what? A supersize McDonald’s order? That sub money was well spent, like the shop services/mount/pet money
Knowing myself, I probably would spent it on something unhealthy, like the aforementioned food order, or something temporary. These things at least I will have untill WoW goes out business and the servers are closed.
To be honest, I don’t have much time to spend in game - not as much as I would like - and don’t give a 's how I get what I want. Boost for the N’Zoth dragon for example or a mog? Shop? Don’t really care, I have what I want, and could spend my gametime to do what I like to do, not what I “have to do”.
Would be great if the game would be F2P like SW:ToR and with gold or rather, free I would be able to get what I want? Sure!
But let’s face it, WoW will never go that way (SW:ToR basically kept alive by the Cartel Market, not its subs, so it would work, don’t get me wrong, just Blizzard will never go be like that) and no matter how many will “state their point with their wallet” it will either don’t change anything (I mean, it is business for Blizzard, not a passion) or will enough quit to not worth them anymore to keep the servers and the game open, in which case congratulation to the pyrrhic victory over the business mindset. With that nobody really would won.
Look, it is nice to have principals, nice to figh for a worthy cause, but let me remind you what Sun Tzu wrote: “He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.” and “Who wishes to fight must first count the cost.”
But of course this is not War or some glorious cause
This is just business
The “I will not buy your product untill it will be like what to be” is totally fine, every corporation is prepared there will be who don’t like their product thus wont by it, knowing very well, there will be enough who will. If there isn’t enough who would? Then its not worth to continnue, especially if that isn’t your only product. IF (but even then it is debatable) World of Warcraft would be Blizzard’s only product, this kind of “I won’t buy it untill you change it” extortion maybe would work.
From purely business point of view? What you suggest or do (if you follow your own advice that is…) is nothing but tilting at windmills so to speak, Don Quixote style or a sisyphean task
If you were a succes game company you would make the game free for all? Spend all your time and getting very little in payout? Then please make a good game and i join almost for free.
