Hey, I was wondering if anyone can confirm that the Greater Scarab Coffers despawn after clearing AQ40 even if not looted?
My guild clears it on Wednesdays and this past time we barely got any keys so we left several unlooted with the intent of returning to loot them once we got keys off the AH. When I am there now it seems they have all despawned and I highly doubt that someone from the guild came in and looted them(but who knows ^^).
Seems strange since it’s a pretty big potential loss for guilds just for clearing it on first night as I know they don’t despawn if you only clear part of it on night 1 and the rest later in the week.
They despawn if you killed certain bosses I believe so if you don’t kill Ouro for example then the coffer in his room won’t despawn and it will actually respawn after 3-4 hours if you do loot it.
Also you can farm the first mob in AQ40 (Obsidian Eradicator) with a team of 5 taking a tank, hunter (to viper sting), healer and 2 melee dps you could probably do it with 1 tank, 3 melee and a healer too as this is the mob that mana drains - the less people with mana the less it can drain) and these drop Idols, Keys, Mounts plus the small chance at trash epics. I’ve heard that BM hunters with turtle pets can also solo these. There is no reset limit so you can farm these for as long as you like (5 resets per hour doesn’t apply).
That seems like it’s rewarding guilds who are unable to(or choose not to) clear the full dungeon on night 1, doesn’t it?
The guilds who have to return several times in the week get several chances and even respawns whereas the guilds who are able to clear on night 1 but got unlucky with keys don’t get respawns but actively get despawns.
I wouldn’t expect a level 25 hunter to know or care so not too surprising, but ty for input
I mean that’s one way to look at it but if you are not able to clear the full raid in one week it’s a poor consultation prize in my eyes. For example if you can’t kill Ouro or Twin Emps then that reset is a missed opportunity in my eyes - How many times have you killed Ragnaros and seen certain items like Band of Accuria drop since release? Or any other “big ticket” items. I’d rather kill everything and not miss a chance to upgrade the raid overall than get a bunch of idols. Plus guilds that leave them up then have to reform a raid of 30+ people later in the week to kill that boss I’m sure many guilds would just prefer to buy from other guilds or wait until they drop rather than having to reform the raid to kill 1 boss. Also nothing stops guilds from not clearing in one night and just farming trash over and over again but most don’t do it because it’s more convenient to clear it in 1 night which frees up their schedule for the rest of the week.
Idols can be bought from other guilds or from AH early on - I bought my idols for my T2.5 it’s not a big deal really. It will get to the point in the next month or so that guilds will have so many idols they won’t know what to do with them anyway and at that point the prices will drop drastically and for your guild will only be used for alts or monetary gain in AH.
Also I’m not entirely sure if they despawn, they just stop respawning if you kill everything.
I agree that it’s better to clear it in one day and annoying to reform raid for last few bosses etc, which is why my guild clears it on night 1 followed by BWL.
The other guilds can still clear the whole thing, they just do it in 2 runs and therefore get more Idols(some of which go for 1000g on my server) for their gear which leaves them able to gear up faster than a guild who clears all the bosses but doesn’t get any idols cause bad RNG with keys.
I’m not saying anyone would not clear the raid just for more tokens, but they could delay it so they kill all the bosses but not during 1 night.
So Guild 1: Full AQ40 clear on raid night 1, then other raids on raid night 2.
Guild 2: Half AQ40 on raid night 1 + BWL, then rest of AQ40 on raid night 2 + whatever.
Guild 2 is also clearing everything, but they get more idols.
I mean, at least let them stay imo so we can come back after we buy the keys, see no point in despawning them. We are essentially getting like half as many idols as a guild who clears it in 2 nights, unless we bring extra keys in case we get bad key drops.
We cleared C’thun on night 1, I got my shoulder token on week 2, still don’t have my shoulders cause tons of ppl got token but not enough idols and I don’t have the means to drop 2000 gold on AH for shoulder idols(Sun)…
You wouldn’t believe how many key you don’t loot per reset if you have master loter threshold rare and above set. Find the script for group loot threshold uncommon and never miss a key again. Last reset we used it and looted 2 extra keys of the coffers in the instance (I think we looted 12 keys total)
If you did the method I mentioned in my first post you would have more keys than you would know what to do with them. Killing the first AQ trash mob with a 5 man group and resetting is massive and not a lot of people know about it or know that you can reset it infinite times per hour. I did this method and farmed it for 2 hours - it takes 2 minutes per kill. We ended up with a key each and on our first AQ run we left Ouro, Viscidus and Bug Trio to another day so I went in and got a coffer with 3 Idols that sold for 600 (Night), 350 (Death) and 200 (War) which is 1,150g for 2 hours farming. Of course you could do it with your guild and keep the keys for your runs too. If you do this method you don’t have to buy keys, you can farm them for free.
Also, yes, guilds could delay to get more idols but I’d assume most guild banks could afford to buy Idols for their guildies rather than add another night of AQ to the roster. It just depends what the guild prioritises.
Yeah we switched the loot thing for week2 and some weeks we have gotten tons and some fewer. This past week we didn’t get very many and even made sure the loot was correct!
True, farming the 1st mob could work but we clear it on wed night so kinda hard =/
Still think it’s weird that they despawn since it punishes fast guilds… oh well.
Would be nice to have a GM confirm/deny this so we know! Sure it would help a lot of guilds with planning and making sure they don’t miss idols!
