Can you explain how reaching Revered with 1 million factions and completing all Lore quests has anything to do with flying?
If Blizzard wanted us to explore the outter world first, then why isnt there a single requirement to explore Kul Tiras and only? Also, whats the purpose of time gating? cause at this point, once you trully unlock flying, you dont even have enough time to enjoy the view from up there. Maybe for 1-2 patches before a new expac is released?
As a genuine Explorer/Parkour lover, i cant thank MoP enough for giving access to flying so early. In Legion/WoD, if i wanted to climb a high spot, i had to make nitro boosts explode on purpose, then immediately use my goblin glider. Also, dont forget that paying for flying for each toon works as a gold sink, and if they wanna keep balance between flying and not, they could just add non-flying zones like isle of thunder or timeless isle.
Explore and partake in a fair amount of content. Nothing too major, and nothing too minor.
Thereâll be plenty of months to get a good use out of flying. Considering the amount of time that flying actually saves, youâll get enough worth out of even a couple of months I reckon.
I like having all the little goals to work towards and I donât mind being without flying so much so it doesnât really bother me having to wait even though I do enjoy flying when it eventually arrives too.
Yes. I do prefer this way of getting Flying. It is something to work towards with little-to-no RNG.
You will get the requirements done by just playing the game. You donât need to bend over backwards and most achievements are done by simply doing the story.
I definitely donât mind the pathfinders, but 6-10 months after launch for the launch continents is way too long for my tastes.
Flying for the new main continents should always be available at the launch of every expansion, with the requirement being the usual complete all quests, explore all zones and get all reputations exalted (instead of revered, why stop halfway?) etc.
Then when a new patch with a new continent like Nazjatar comes in later patches that probably have their own reputation make having that exalted the requirement to fly there and so on.
Itâs just a too long of a wait currently, like Iâve put absolutely zero thought on the reputation and have them exalted on my main, Iâve done the world content, make it less of a bore already.
Flying in this type of games is a mistake imo. But yeah⌠I enjoy pathfinders, because i simply love lore and exploring every little things such as for example easter eggs. I dont mind dont having it either. But in case of mop⌠As far as i loved this expansion i kind of hated the way to unlock Flying⌠Just⌠Imagine how much Gold would you have to gather in bfa if some mounts costs around 300k-5000000m Gold. Aint farmer of Gold, its nice to make some Gold, but id rather spend it on⌠for example Mount than on Flying, i think its better to unlock Flying just by simple playing the game.
I donât mind the Pathfinder requirement, but I feel the time between the launch of an expansion and flying becoming available is too long.
Iâd prefer more difficult requirements that do not have a time-gating element. By the time flying became available in WoD and Legion, the use of it was limited because it was so late (and in Legion flying was still disabled in the zones that were relevant at that point). It looks to be similar in BFA.
I do enjoy Pathfinder and I think itâs an excellent way for us to enable/earn flying. What I detest, from the bottom of my heart, is the fact that I have to wait EVEN after completing Pathfinder. There should be no wait whatsoever.
May be an unpopular opinion but yes - I do prefer pathfinder.
It gives me a greater sense of achievement when I obtain the ability to fly. Also, being grounded for a while first makes me appreciate it more when it finally is available.
I do feel that they should perhaps loosen a bit up on when it becomes available though.
The problem is that blizz is unlocking the flying faaaar too late.
Like some people already suggested, it should be available as soon as you complete the required reputations, ect. and not wait for some specific patch where blizz finally allows the said things to unlock flying.
I have leveled many characters to 120 already (one of each class) and I have seen and done the outdoor content where flying is used. Why cant I fly there? I have seen the content.
I have not âenjoyedâ pathfinder over âbuy flying at max levelâ. I would rather have to buy it on each and every character than have to do various achievements and wait for them to deem us worthy of flying.
I have explored it all, Iâve seen it all. By the time they finish gating us from flying Iâm well and truly sick of being grounded.
Most of Pathfinder isnât something you have to go out of your way to do (if youâve played one character consistantly from the start) but inevitably a small part is requires some kind of grind.
Personally I would rather flying wasnât added to new zones at all - I intentionally never got flying in Legion and Iâm not super excited for it in BFA.
It saves a bunch of time and itâs great fun, sure, but itâs also making the game feel so small. The whole âhuge open worldâ kinda dies with it.
i originally thought "go the old tbc-cata way (didnât play mop. it was same as tbc-cata?) but on reading peoples replies here, i spose i can agree that i dont see a problem with the ACHIEVEMENT of pathfinder:
doing the main storyline at least once and discovering all the zones are ok as requirements.
doing 100 wqâs⌠meh, silly, but ok iâll allow it as on the broken shore right now, (im on a 111 as i write this) there are 45 wqâs up in the original 5 zones that were available on release in legion, so this could be done in 2-3 days tops. ok, weâll allow it.
rep⌠rep has gotten harder and harder to farm since wotlk, with mop maybe being the best. having to get exalted in 5~ factions each expansion can be painful, with not many ways to get rep outside painful wq grinding, and with factions like the tortolan. either make it exalted with the âmainâ faction for that expansion, or make rep easier to get from dungeons with tabards, or better tokens. and dont make them exclusive from each other, like zanda rep doesnât mirror proudmore rep atm if you get one exalted on one faction, but not the other.
The MAIN problem people above seem to have, and i 100% agree, is the wait for this to come out. most dont seem to have an issue with the ACHIEVEMENT of pathfinder, they have an issue that they have to wait a year or so to be able to get the flying reward. make flying available on one of these options:
The moment you hit max lvl.
The moment you achieve pathfinder, no time gating.
The moment that the first raid is opened/cleared OR
a set, but minimum time after release, ie. 2 months.
not massivly true. by the time we get flying, weâll mostly be spending all our time in the new naga zone, which will prob be no flying, like by the time most people got flying was mid/late ToS, so after that we spent most of our time on argus = no flying. while the amount of TIME we will have flying will be sizeable, the areas we will be funneled into for content will probably not allow flying.
iiiiiiiiiiiiish. maybe. it still takes a fair while to fly places, and its no different (i believe?) time wise than getting a gryphon ride from one side of the country to the other. the only time saved is that you go in a straight line, the speed of the ride is about the same as a mount.
AND if rng wasnât so stacked against us, people wouldnât mind not having flying as much cause they wouldnât have to keep flying to the same X instances/areas EVERY week to try grind out what ever drop they are looking for.
It really does. No more walking, choosing routes or maybe getting into small PvP scrims/clusterfest of mobs dazing you. Just fly over everything at over 420% speed in a straight line to each objective.
The only obstacles/delays are how long it takes to fly in each straight line. Iâll still fly because itâs extremely convienient but it really kills off the world exploration. That said, the way they do new content (aka grounded areas) is nice and Iâm looking forward to the new one.
People care about that? I think people care more about the repetition of WQâs rather than dungeons.
Pathfinder isnt bad, having some mini event quest chain to unlock flying would be even cooler, if they wanted to remove boring âpay to flyâ then adding explore achievement or similar lame stuff didnt help âŚ
But the realm problem is that you get flying after you pretty much complete whole zone, flying should help you unlock reps and finish war campaign faster not the other way around (you wouldnt be able to complete netherwing or shatari without flying).
And we are going to get flying in pretty much same time when we get new location, and you cant fly there again, so all the content like WQ, incursions whatever gets immediately forgotten as you need to complete new locations, and with that flying becomes pointless again âŚ
For me, that âopen worldâ feeling goes away after a few weeks of ground travel anyway. Iâll pick the WQs that are close to flight points or otherwise easy to get it, and ignore the ones that require additional running around. I also use the whistle a lot, and the various hearthstones.
When I have quested through all areas and done a bunch of WQs in them, the zones become mere backdrops. I donât explore anymore at that point, and I donât experience the atmosphere of the zones anymore. I do love exploration and the âfeelâ of zones, but neither element is present after a few weeks of daily running through the same areas and getting dazed.
But the thing is, if flying doesnât enhance your experience, you can still use a ground mount even if itâs available for others. Flying is not mandatory, so you can ignore that aspect. Back in TBC I had a friend whoâd always walk everywhere, he didnât even use a ground mount, because he enjoyed that aspect of the game.
At the very least, the ability to fly will kill off flightpoint camping in WM. Aerial combat anyone?
I prefer pathfinder rather than it being just another silly amount of gold which of course can be a barrier to newer players. Pathfinder evens up the route to flying for everyone but itâs taking far too long to appear. I just hope it doesnât become yet another thing gated behind content such as mythics.
Itâll be interesting to see how flying copes with sharding. As it is, thereâs an issue crossing zones in flying areas on a 2 person mount where often the passenger falls to their death. I expect it will show the maps up as being very very small compared to previous expacs and will likely lead to redundancies being given to the Boralus ferryboat staff.
Iâm indifferent. A lot of things will die with flying too whereas I donât find that Iâm having too much trouble navigating around the expansionâs areas even without it.
