Do you have a lot of alts or focus on just one or a few characters?

I have for the past few months been working on leveling every class to 60 including my old retired characters, but I must say after reaching 60 on most of them it has gotten tiring relogging a lot to send Torghast currencies, grind anima, actually having to do Torghast for the mission followers since having multiple characters run missions gets you some decent gold. So now I have decided to have my oldest character as my main and a druid just as a gather monkey for my main characters professions lol

What way do you work your characters?

I play one, slowly gear one.
Level another one if I am really really bored or too tired to do content.
Ignore all the rest.

I’m with Kiyouraah here. Altoholism is seriously detrimental to solid character development.

I mainly just play my main, I have others I level for the professions and achievements. I would do everything on my main if I could.

But I don’t gear alts, or rarely.

Just a couple characters. I really don’t like having to worry about too many alts (and having to level them).

I used to play 2 or 3 chars but I simply don’t have the time and Blizzard does not want me to so I just stick with 1 char.

I have all professions (I think) across 5 or 6 characters. I don’t do any content with my other characters, it’s too time consuming.

I have 8 level 60 characters.

This season, I’ve had 3 that I play ‘seriously’.

My feral druid is the one I really want to play (with a bit of balance and guardian on the side), but feral is so weak in my favourite content (M+) that trying to play it exclusively is soul destroying.

So, I have a warlock that is my ‘M+ main’ (has the highest score) and that helps my druid get into keys.

And I have my DH that I raided on when my guild was still raiding.

Plus I have a few other characters that I play a bit (they all have double leggo and 4-piece), but usually I play them just to chill if I don’t want to push, or if someone is looking for a dps or tank for a low key.

My preference would be to have one main and a bunch of others that I play a bit and casually, but that would require me to choose one that isn’t the one I really want to play.

You guys seem to have the right idea. I must say, the idea of having multiple characters for the mission table gold sounds good, but the amount of anima you have to farm is insane. I know you can send 1k anima across characters via the Oribos NPC but the amount of anima the table goes through if you want to maximise gold is crazy and takes so much time out of your gameplay.

Maybe I will come back to my other characters to grind professions on them some day but I really want to be more of a completionist on my oldest character, got so much old content and stuff to collect on him

I am running the missionboard on 5-6 chars and i got over 100k anima on 2 chars (and plenty on the others). Anima is far from a problem anymore. It isn’t season 1.

On topic; i play 1 main char and have 1 main alt, which can change during a season.

fair play but I have other responsibilities than farming anima, its certainly not as abundant as war resources in BFA either

I used to play 12 alts in BfA, one of each class, same for start of SL, but the leggo prices and the renown grind just put me off. :frowning_with_open_mouth:

So now it’s my forum main for endgame, my 2nd priest for an occasional RP or mog/mount farms (as well as checking De Other Side, and by that I don’t mean the dungeon, more like the faction), or rarely log my blood knight or huntress for fun.

Same for classic, all the resources go to my priest there, and the rest do things like making money.
Oh, and I like to level alts there, because why not. Is actually more enjoyable than the endgame…

I just play M+… And do ZM-patterns on 2 or 3 chars.

I have the full 400 anima combined on all my chars .
Just spend 8k gearing my alt on ZM greens though.

Any game that I play, if I can’t find a class/spec that I like, then I can’t play the game.

Playing alts just tells me that you don’t care that much, which is fine if you’re not investing the amount of time that indicates that you should.

I see, and sorry if that came off as rude I am just reading back over my reply! I only raid and do 4 maximum mythic+ dungeons (and max level of those is like +17) a week for my vault just. I definitely have to start working on mythic+ then just for those anima rewards, I was looking at the 3k rating since it seems the most appealing way for me to max out conduit levels

the answer to OP is ‘‘yes’’

My Shammy does the main content and the grindy stuff, reps, console, main campaign.

I have a handful of alts that will do the skips and get the catch-up gear, currently getting 233 gear in ZM.
Some of these are doing the other covenant campaigns and side quests too.

Then there are a bunch of alts stuck at 50ish, some do old dungeons and raids others do nothing.

I’m a one character kinda player. Sometimes, I’ll try out a new spec to see if I like it, but none of those stick with me for more than 2-3 weeks before I return to my main. I also used to maintain a Horde mage at semi-decent gear level to run stuff with Horde friends, but that’s not something I’ll keep doing now that we have cross-faction as an option.

I will leave you this info here, because I had the same issue as you did before: Do not do the gold mission that costs 150 anima. It is not worth it for that measly amount of gold it gives.

Once I stopped doing that specific one my anima economy normalized. Currently I feel that there are less anima missions showing up in general, but that may just be observational bias from my end.

As to answer your question in your OP: I was playing three characters actively, but I only did so because I was raiding mythic on ranged DPS (mage) and I was helping out in M+ content on my monk (tank/healer). I am also raiding with an Alliance group, so I needed a separate character for that one up until now (warlock).

I have a bunch of alts on the side whom I used to unlock the covenant armors, but their main goal is to be mission table slaves (only have hunter left to do, in order to get the mail transmogs).
