Does any one here know how the mind of undercutters actually work?

Hey.

So i have been happily selling like 4-5 gems every day at the 90-95g price for a few days now.

But now when i went to check my auctions

Why… just WHY do people undercut by so much ?

For any one wondering, this is the spell power + int gem.

Because noone has time for auction house bots, to fight the price by 1 copper, when all the stuff gets instantly reposted by 1 copper lower in a second with bots and addons …

So you put it up for “normal” price, still make money from it, and everything sells …

Because your price is too high. I want to sell at a fair price now, not at 2 or 3 G more tomorrow.

It did at the 90g price as well, sold plenty.

No reason to dumb it down 20g.

I undercut because i wanna get it sold, rather sell it quickly than to sit on it for a day or 2.

Also this mentality helps me, the more people who undercut the better deals i can get on whatever i need to buy on ah (atleast thats how it feels like)

I do that from time to time when I feel the price is simply too high. If I can seel mine for, say 50g, its better than having it up for 90g and not sell it, right?

But they did sell fast even at the 90g price.

So that argument is pointless for this.

I usually put my auctions slightly below the cheapest one on auction. Say a stack of Saronite Bars go for 39g buyout, then I post mine for say 37g. It’s just a minor loss, but it’s a guaranteed quick sell. Almost all auctions I post are bought within seconds. Then I don’t have to worry about the item not selling and me having to repost them.

Edit: Barnemonster also makes a good point. I also buy stuff from the auction house, and if I push the price down I can also buy cheaper things when I need.

On your screenshot it shows lots of gems velow 90g, they obviously havent been sold, so no - that argument is not pointless.
But if your 90g auction sells anyway, what is the actual problem then?

Because that is the person who undercut by 20 freaking gold + 3 AH bots that undercut the new price.

and i am annoyed that they even did that, Because now the rest of us have to reduce our price just because 1 guy decided to be a douche.

because they can and probably because they want to sell it fast?

i allways do that,if i want to sell the item during the same day i put it very cheap to sell fast.

better some than nothing!

so if he wanted his stuff to sell first, he would put it there 1c lower, came to it next day, all his stuff back in mailbox, because overnight 5 looped bots cut down the price by 3 golds …

Yeah just get out of here with your AH minmaxing garbage …

I just want to sell stuff… I don’t want to spend months trying to sell 1 item. Cut the price by 15-20%, it gets bought instantly by one of the sad bots that will repost the item for whatever they were selling it at. I get my gold at a reasonable price, no longer my problem. Whats the point in cutting a 95g item by 5g when you come back the next day and there are 20 listings for 10g less than yours. Don’t wait for the market to move the price, move it yourself and bail out.

Because people follow like sheep, putting theirs for minus 20g in the AH too and the guy who downed the price will happily buy all out and put them back up for 90 for profit.

Yeah noticed this happened on meta gems on my server. The price got so stupid it was actually lower than the cost of the raw mats…so I just waited a couple days and guess what? Price was back up to what it should be.

Some people want a quick sale…it happens.

It isn’t bots so much as people that just sit and AH for hours and will repost continually…when I see this I just wait and come back. My stuff sells eventually.

Trick of AH warrioring is don’t just play with a few items. Get 50+ items up on deck and something will sell.

I do this and do you know why? To sell my stuff quickly, and not be a greedy git.

It’s a variable market, if you don’t like it then wait to sell your stuff when mine has sold.

Which would I rather sell, 2 at 90g or 7 at 70g? Kinda obvious.

I hope the less educated people continue to undercut like this. Whenever I see stupid auctions posted like this I buy it all out and undercut the original by a copper or two and I make a quick buck.

To get ridd of items i dont want. I dont play the AH so i dont give a F. I just dont want it returned in the mail from the AH.

People with low iq do this supposedly to sell cheaper, but things are sold even if the price is reduced by 1 copper. They reduce the price by 20-30 gold, a few minutes after they put up the same things even cheaper for a couple of copper ones and, of course, the latter are bought. Just buy everything and put it up at a normal price, earning on fools.
