"DONT PLAY ALLIANCE if you wanna PVP"...?

Why people everywhere says to me: dont play Alliance if you want to play on a pvp server ? or dont play alliance when your goal is to pvp?
That are people from Gehennas almost 50:50 server that telling me that. I mean is it that the 3k+ people on the server getting bullied and destroyed from the horde day after day ?

Srsly i cant play a 60 alliance on that popular servers , to see how it is and experience myself. Thats why i ask people in forum or just google it or ingame whisper. And thats 99% of the time the answer: DONT PLAY ALLIANCE.

Last days/weeks that took away all my motivation…so…is it true ?
And pls i like challenges i like the faction with less people on a server, im not scared of beeing in the minority…but it seems like its unplayable on every server as alliance ?

It makes more sense to play alliance if you want to pvp most of the time. Playing in the underdog faction will give you more opportunities to pvp. Joining the dominating faction is a sign of weakness and it will just further increase the faction imbalance…

that’s just not true, Alliance is alright

Sign of a true pvper. People saying that pvp-> horde are just sheeps

i agree 100%, but at some point u cant fight them all ^^. If its true what people say its like alliance run away always and rarely fights back. They even let you die and run away.

In TBC you are all in few zones. Dominant faction will dominate those zones making it P2 just for the whole expansion. 10 vs 1 is not really a PvP you want to have.

People won’t handicap themselves joining a faction that on current realm will be in constant disadvantage and costantly “farmed”.

If the realm manages to sustain a balanced active playerbase from both factions then it should be ok. If it will shift towards one faction - that faction will be overrepresented on the few new zones the expansion provides. And as Classic has a lot of sweaty players you then can epect P2 ganking fiesta.

Also the racials meta for PvP favors Horde, so people wanting best arena meta may reroll Horde (and for Arena faction balance doesn’t matter).

TBC meta, especially for private servers that started fresh, was super heavy Horde. 80%/20% or worse. Better racials, broken elves, better palas. Private servers had to faction balance and Blizzard did one of changes those servers did - both faction Palas get both seals. Private servers usually also gave some convenience buff to Alliance (better rep/exp) to get it roughly 50/50.

Classic TBC will be based on Classic playerbase so pre-existing Alliance players have some barrier to rerolling Horde - their pre existing characters. So we can expect more Alliance to stay Alliance than when it would be fresh but still some will either reroll Horde or server transfer to a PvE realm or to PvP realm where Alliance is the super-dominant faction.

On top of that it’s a meme so you should take “don’t play alliance” with a grain of salt.

i mean its a meme but if its 50% true, why would you play alliance on a pvp server?
Dont get me wrong now but people like you take away any motivation for me to play and level my alliance characters. I know its not about “winning” or wpvp. But who has fun getting camped while farming ? whene you even can farm vs 20 hordes farming at the same time? Yeah i can still raid or pvp(i heared alliance loses nonpremade every bg) but every minute between this things you have 0 fun.

Horde players act like this as well from my experience ^^
We can’t really generalize the faction that much, it comes down to individuals…

People handicap themselves all the time - it’s a way of increasing difficulty/challenge. Why do people play hardcore modes where 1 death means delete character? Some people play for a certain experience that you can’t get without handicapping yourself. “look mum, with no hands!”

that with the handicap is true.
But at the end i try to figure out is it worth for me ? I dont wanna level up on 60 farm gear and at the end i dont find enough similar minded people in the alliance. i cant fight them all ^^

Sure, you have to figure out what you want to do in this game.
You don’t have to fight them all at once if you know how to choose your battles.
The server population is not homogeneously spread. It’s still possible for alliance to outnumber horde locally/temporarily. You can’t just camp one spot and expect both factions will send the same amount of players there. A small organized group that changes location frequently is hard to handle for those zugzugs

thanks man. srsly nice to hear somebody who is not doomtalking alliance especially for tbc launch. Im still not sure about it but thanks :*

These players are min maxers and looking at it from a sheer advantage PoV which to be fair is Horde favored when it comes to racials and PvP things like Hardiness/WoTF and War Stomp are just overall more useful than Alliance counter parts. Because of this you do tend to get more skilled PvPers rolling Horde and players who are more focused on PvP but that’s not to say Alliance doesn’t have PvP focused players or skilled players, we just have less. You’ll get some Horde players claiming that Alliance racials are better but these are just deluded narcissists who want to feel like they are special snowflakes, ultra skilled and the ones at the disadvantage and don’t want to be seen like they have chosen the faction which gives them every advantage in PvP.

Also players who play on PvP servers with a massive faction imbalance for example I play on Gandling and the A:H ratio is 30:70 but not all servers are like this currently although I predict most PvP servers to become Horde dominated again come TBC at least until later phases but if you don’t mind being outnumbered out in the world then it’s not a problem. Currently it doesn’t make much difference in Classic as the open world is kind of dead but come TBC everyone will be back riding the hype train.

Do whatever you enjoy doing though, if your playing Human Rogue then come TBC they are arguably one of the better Class/Race combo’s for Arena and if WoTLK classic ever comes they become even better.

If your goal is to PvP the best thing you can do is look to befriend other PvP focused players on your server or even find a PvP guild as even queuing with a few extra people can make all the difference in PvP when you are all on the same page and have people to watch your back.

TLDR: Do what you enjoy, your the one paying the sub!

Not in a sweaty MMORPG.

That’s not your average player. People do it once for fun, or for stream content, they don’t play like this normally. 99,99% will not roll underdog racials of an underdog faction on a PvP realm where they are severely outnumbered.

Depends on realm faction balance. Few realms are quite Alliance heavy and may become Alliance monofaction - good pick

It’s like “why play on a PvP realm?” - either you want a PvP realm or not. PvP realm is not something of “better quality” or “must have” nor “true experience”.

That’s the description of mega-pop PvP realms with faction inbalance (and even with 50/50 mega-pop will have players on every square meter of each zone unless absurd layering).

Strange no one mentioned Battleground waiting time. For Horde it’s about 25 minutes in lvl 60.
For Alliance sometimes about 2 minutes.

For TBC with Arenas it won’t be really a problem as you can get your own faction in arena. So if BGs will be slow and less rewarding people will do arenas (of the drama videos will be fun).

They should say: “Don’t play alliance if you want to easy-mode PVP”. The overpowered racials and resulting faction imbalance makes it easier to PVP as horde. But a true PVP-er doesn’t want things easy. I would not call a fight a true fight if you don’t play on equal, or even lesser terms. As horde you never do, you get your victory conditions handed to you. And that’s why I don’t play horde.

Some say that arena in TBC will cause a lot of Classic PvP wannabies to cry every week

And you are probably right about that, but arena ladder is a very scaleable thing. Probably I could have like 100 higher arena rating having WOTF, and buddies with hardiness etc in the team. I don’t think we should exaggerate it to the extreme, it is a strict advantage, but it is not gonna matter 400 arena rating. I am not gonna cry over it and instead just suck it up and have some pride in playing the underdog faction. But yes. Probably I am the odd one out.

Play a Rogue, and you will choose your battles. Or play with friends (even better).

I hope to manage, once in these 15 years, to level an Alliance character. So I can see the opposite perspective.

It’s the same but with pretty character models and less convenient travel and hub locations.
